MACKINNON & SONS CHIMNEY SERVICE

I had them come out for a routine cleaning and inspection of my fireplace. While they were there I had him give me an estimate for a new flue damper as the existing one was not sealing and functioning properly. The owner is very friendly, professional and his price was very reasonable. I had him come back at a later time to install the new damper. He discovered a repair was needed for the damper to work safely and to do the job the right way. I Would definitly recommend him.

I was left in the lurch by another service provider on Angie's List who attempted to fix this problem and were unable to but charged me anyways. I called MacKinnon and Sons to see if they could squeeze me in and help me out. They responded promptly and set up an appointment. They were professional and gave me a full, detailed explanation of the work that was going to be performed. They then went ahead and finished the work as quickly as possible. The work done was high quality and they gave me a fair price. I have used them in the past for chimney service so I knew they were honest and did great work. I am so glad I learned that they also do heating!

After I first called them (in July), they came to my house to take a look at my chimney. They called me back because they wanted to take a look from inside the house. I was away, so we scheduled for them to come mid-August (that was the earliest they were available). When the day arrived, they didn't. I called the company, and the lady on the phone told me she was going to call me later to tell me they couldn't make it because they had to finish a job from the day before that was taking longer to complete. (That didn't sound right since they were supposed to come at 7:30 am, and I was calling closer to 8:30 am.) We scheduled for them to come the 1st of September. I called them a couple days before to make sure they would be coming this time. At that time, the lady on the phone told me they had forgotten about my appointment the last time, and that was the real reason they missed the appointment. They arrive at my house on Sept. 1 at the right time, and they explain to me how the original chimney wasn't affixed right. They gave me a rough estimate of the cost and told me they'll look into parts and try to get to this as soon as they can. (I had expressed some urgency in fixing this because a strong rain storm the week before led to minor leaking and a circuit breaker triggering.) I had to go away for a few days, but a couple days after I returned, I got a call telling me they've put on a new exhaust pipe and cap. The cost is a little lower than what they quoted, and they'll be sending me a bill in the mail. I was a little surprised that they went ahead with the fix without checking with me first, but perhaps that's because I expressed urgency in wanting this fixed. Also, I can't really comment on the quality, since I can't even see the chimney / exhaust pipe from the ground.

I'VE BEEN USING PAUL FOR YEARS AND TWO HOUSES IN THE AREA. HE'S GREAT.
