went well; we realize the best option is to replace the system but that is not an option at this time

I didn't get what I was hoping for, but I got quite an education and it appears the smarter option for me, is to purchase a new system. I was so shocked that a system has an average life of 12 to 15 years these days. We have only had the system for 12 years but it has always seemed problematic. I will get a detailed estimate for a new system, next week. I guess I am in shock over having used air conditioning so little (our third floor only...and used when kids are home in summer only!) I felt like my service person, did everything he could to convey the options, for trouble shooting and repairing vs. installing a new system. I thought he was first rate!

It went well, but a few things needed to be fixed, so it was expensive. I didn't feel like they were selling me useless services or parts. They explained everything they were doing and why.

Job took 5 days when they said it would be one. They were messy leaving cigarette butts on my lawn and construction debris all over the house. They spilled water on furniture and did not wipe it up. They did not pull an electrical permit as required by the town. they had to come back twice to fix installation problems.

At my house for close to an hour, replaced filter, inspected everything. Had a good, honest conversation on recommended repairs. The technician was nice and helpful. When my AC kicks the bucket (it's over 20 years old) they will get the first call.

Excellent, prompt, professional service.

The technician was nice and polite. He came on time, did the check very quickly and concluded that the AC was broken, there was cooling fluid leak because wild animal made nest inside the outdoor machine and chewed on the pipe, and we need a new one, arranged his company to give us a estimate.

Jason, Cooling Unlimited technician, was scheduled to come between 2:00 and 4:00 PM arrived promptly at 3:00 PM, spent over an hour making a thorough check of our home air conditioning system working from a 20-step checklist. He did a thoroughly professional job including finding and cleaning filthycoils other companies had missed which had greatly decreased the systems efficiency.. Cooling Unlimited is best company I have ever had and are now under contract to provide biannual inspections of our cooling/heating system.

Finally, a long winter over at last! Time to prep the A/C for the summer. Except... my A/C is only blowing hot air. Turns out my outdoor compressor unit is making an unusual noise and the fan is not spinning. Embarrassingly, we haven't had this unit serviced since we moved in (aka a long time), so it was well overdue for maintenance. Setting up an appointment with Carol was simple and pleasant. Ivan arrived promptly and got to work immediately outside even in the on-and-off rain. He made sure to wear clean booties on his shoes every time he entered our home (a nice touch). Turned out the capacitor in our compressor outdoors was near death and required a replacement. He walked me through the various tests he was performing and telling me what the optimal ranges were for results. I then okayed the work to be performed to replace the capacitor. Because my original hope was an overall top-to-bottom maintenance service, the repair outdoors needed to be completed first in order to have the system working well enough to be tested. Once Ivan had everything running smoothly outside, he then turned his attention to the inside unit. It was immediately noticeable that the fan portion was not only incredibly filthy but it had some mold on it. This required him to remove the entire fan and motor from the unit, take it to his van and clean it with special cleaning solutions. He re-mounted it and it looked almost brand new! It felt like air flow was easily doubled through my vents. Being unaware of just how old our A/C system was, Ivan was able to tell that our system is actually running pretty well for a system that is 22 YEARS OLD! Slightly past its 15-year life expectancy, right? My wife and I were shocked! He rightly so recommended getting a new system sooner vs later, if not for it becoming a money pit in eventual repairs but because modern A/C units are more energy efficient and therefore less costly in the long-run. As he was leaving, Ivan gave me a few quick pointers on how to make the DIY installation of thermostats I had already purchased go smoothly, as well as some troubleshooting tips. A nice touch. I'm looking forward to a hot, hot summer this year... with my elderly A/C running smoothly thanks to Ivan, Carol and Cooling Unlimited! PS - I do give them a "B" rating on Price only because I do believe their prices are on the average-to-higher side for services. But I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND them because you are truly getting the service you are paying for: I felt as if they cared as much as I do about getting my A/C running and clean. Attention to detail, caring, effort and friendliness go a long, long way in a service industry... and they have all that in spades. You couldn't find a better company to help you. I plan to use them again in the wintertime - they also do heating! I am even considering their yearly maintenance plan.

We were told that the office would call us with an estimate to replace the blower motor. After four days and multiple phone calls, I was finally quoted a price of $905 to perform the work. THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF. I hired another Angie's list contractor to perform the work. Upon inspection, they determined that the blower motor was fine and there was simply a loose connection that needed to be reattached. This company should change it's name to "Greed Unlimited".

They do very good work and they are thorough. I have used this organization for a good many years. The price I quote in this review is for an annual contract.

I have not yet had the service done. The company has been very responsive. The scheduling has been very easy so far and they gave me a 2 hour time frame for when they would show up.

The worker, Jason, was very punctual, he did a thorough job, he removed the filter and cleaned up the unit. He explained what he was doing and answered my questions and so the service was very satisfactory. I didn't spend anything extra.

I got the Big Deal for an AC system inspection. AC systems typically last about 12-15 years and ours is 20 years old and has been sluggish at cooling the last couple of years, so I knew it was probably on its last legs. It was very easy to set up an appointment for the following week. I mentioned that I knew the rusty condensation pan needed replacing and expected it would be extra. The man came a little earlier than scheduled :-) First he replaced the dirty filter and then turned on the system and checked the evaporator and the drain lines. The main drain line was clogged, so he blew it out with compressed air. Then he went outside to check the condenser. He found that in addition to the evaporator pan, the capacitor and a contactor needed replacement and he quoted that the parts would total about $475. The sluggish cooling was probably from the freon being low (possibly a slow leak). He said that he could add freon to the system (at least $190, probably more), but couldn't guarantee that it would last long if there was a leak. As I expected, he recommended that we replace our 20-yr-old system with a more efficient one. My husband was at a doctor's appointment, so I told him we would talk about what we wanted to do when he got home. The serviceman said that, if I didn't make the decision while he was there, if we did choose to replace the parts, it would cost extra for the return repair trip and some another fee, that I can't remember now. When my husband came home, we talked and decided to just replace the system. I called the company back early afternoon of the same day (Wednesday) and said we had decided to replace the system and was told I had to talk to "Meghan", but the woman I spoke to said Meghan was busy with another customer and would call me back. No call. The next day, no call. So Friday afternoon, I called again asking for Meghan directly, but was again told she was busy and would call back. I told the person that it had been 3 days, that she was always busy and hadn't called back. After a brief time on hold, I was put through to Meghan. I told her they had inspected my system and we wanted to replace it, and she set up an appointment for someone to come out the following Monday! We'll see how it goes from here.

The technician was very knowledgeable and explained what he would do and the cost. I agreed with his assessment and told him to make the repairs.

Tune-up of both units was done in a timely manner. One unit was done with Angie coupon and the other unit done for $99.00. The tech suggested some additional work to prevent future problems. He cleaned both condenser coils and installed new turbo capacitors on both units. This additional work cost $1000.00- this came as a shock but I believe it will prevent trouble later. Not knowing much about A/C systems, I have to trust Cooling Unlimited that the work performed was necessary and that the price was fair. Having a high rating on Angie's List made me feel a bit more confident that the service was justified, done expertly and at a good price.

Jason was very efficient. After the inspection he explained all that was going well with my air conditioner and what needed to be replaced. He also changed the filter on my furnace. He was prompt. I was able to get this appointment scheduled for the day after my first contact with the company.

Good work, ontime, good quality, friendly and would use again.

I had to contact the company to set everything up and they said they did not service my type of air conditioner. I think that should be noted in the Big Deals. The receptionist on the phone was unclear about if they did or did not work on my brand.

Great experience from initial consult through installation and final walk-through. Each step of the way, our sales contact, lead engineer, and install crew were available and professional. Cooling Unlimited has been great to work with.

I was looking to remove a broken Mitsubishi split system and install a new central ducted HVAC system. Charlie from Cooling Unlimited came out to provide an estimate on the removal of the old system and installation of the new system. Charlie was very prompt and knowledgeable during his assessment of my condo unit. Charlie presented me with several options including both the installation of a new split system as well as a ducted system. As an aside, many folks within the industry seem to advocate for the split systems given their reliability and efficiency. Unfortunately, that had not been my experience because while these units may be reliable for most owners, when a part/component breaks, multiple repair technicians were unable to fix (or even identify) the cause of the problem (for a unit that was less than 6 years old). Charlie turned around a proposal for a ducted system in less than 24 hours and at a very competitive price (relative to three other quotes). While I ultimately did not use Cooling Unlimited for my installation, I would not hesitate to contact them again or consider using their services in the future.

These people we worked with were kind, prompt, and professional. When they finished, the cellar was cleaner than when they began. They had to go through brick and stone to vent the system. They came back several times to show us how to work the digital thermostat and to regulate the system. Our bedroom which had been cold for the last forty years is now warm. We have hired them to service the system on a regular basis.

After contacting service, repair technician scheduled appointment, arrived on time. While one service call, technician relayed all options, found problem and repaired issue.

Contractor has done work for us in past (spent $10k+ with them finishing attic). Asked them for quote on new heating/cooling for basement project. Took a couple wks to get an estimate, we asked for clarification and despite several calls/emails, it has now been 7 weeks and no response. What's up? Found another contractor who gave a clear quote in a day. Life's too short, if this is their definition of service.... I cannot recommend them at all.
