Doug is an outstanding example of someone who loves his craft. While I busily took notes, he took all the time that was needed to explain the details of several refinishing projects for items I was concerned about and gave excellent pointers as to what I should expect during the course of their restoration. I had emailed Doug asking to get some silver appraised for insurance purposes. He called me right away and suggested a cheaper way to get my silver appraised for insurance purposes. I appreciated that he made that suggestion and was not trying to make money off an unsuspecting consumer. I would definitely use him if I needed to get something appraised.

I found him to be very personable, respectful, fair and particularily sensitive to the family's feelings about the items that we were selling. I would highly recommend him! He is a very honest and kind person and I would work with him again in the future! He has a great personality!

Doug Stinson got back to us right away and we sent a picture of the sideboard. He said he wasn't interested. but told us what we could expect if we were to sell to a dealer. He gave us the general background on it and the approximate age. He also mentioned it might go for "substantially" lower than what he quoted. In any case, it was good to have some knowledge to talk with another dealer instead of going in blind. We asked Doug what we owed him for his consultation and he said "nothing. Bottom line; he gave us the info we needed (including a picture of a smiler piece with the price), was responsive and we not only recommend him but will put him first on our list for future antiques to sell.

Douglas Stinson came and was wonderfully professional and yet considerate. Because of depreciation in the antique market and wear on our furniture we needed to be presented with a realistic picture. This he did with great tact and compassion. He was well able to back up his appraisals and facilitate the purchasing of most of the items. We could not have had anyone better.

We called Doug Stinson in preparation for our estate sale. He provided friendly and professional service, giving suggestions as to how to display items and offering information on what items would be popular with the public. He was respectful of all our treasured family knick knacks and interested in everything! His engaging manner helped heighten our enthusiasm for our sale. I had initially contacted him to obtain a written, in-person appraisal on the set's market value in order to price it correctly for sale by a furniture restorer. After reviewing history and photos I sent to him by email, he sent me information about how the desk had been altered long ago and about its market value, which was much lower than I had hoped. I have listed the cost of his services as $100 because, even though he provided this estimate for free, the service was worth well more than $100 to me. I have numerous other items that I plan to have him appraise in my home this Fall or winter, paying him for his time spent at that time. I would not hesitate to recommend his services.

Douglas Stinson is the man I dealt with, and called before he arrived. He was very polite, he was very fair and personable. He was very easy to talk to. He counted the money in front of me for each individual piece he bought. I feel he went above and beyond. I would recommend and use him again.

Excellent experience... I sent Doug Stinson photos of everything I wanted appraised. Within a day I got a response from him saying we could go through everything over the phone. Not even 12 hours of that response, I got a personal call from him; he was knowledgeable, courteous and took time to go through each of the 20 items with me. I would highly recommend his services to anyone having questions about antiques. We didn't find anything of great value, but I did get some historical facts and suggestions on how to proceed if I want to do more research to sell on my own.

Called and Doug answered the phone. I asked questions and he responded in a very educated and respectful way. It was a wonderful interaction.

Douglas couldn't have been more knowledgeable, interesting, or helpful. He has been doing this kind of work since he was a child and he has an amazing fund of knowledge, connections, and wonderful stories to tell. He told us many things about our home we didn't know. He also helped us find a home for our baby grand piano. I cannot recommend him more highly.

He called me back within an hour of my sending him the pictures even though he was out of town and it was a Sunday. Although the antiques were not something he was interested in, he spent quite a bit of time telling me about them and what he thought they would be worth. He suggested various ways of selling them and then gave me contact information on another dealer that he thought would be helpful. It is rare that you meet someone with such love for his work that he gives away information for free and to be helpful. I would definitely deal with him again.

It was a Great experience. He didn't even charge me for the 1st Phone "Consult" The information was spot on and he was a pleasure to talk with. I didn;t feel rushed and the amount of knowledge the had was remarkable.

Overall it went extremely well. The woman who first spoke to me was friendly and helpful, telling me just what to do,. Her son, Doug Stinson, replied immediately and talkd to me at length about each piece of furniture. He was very friendly and professional. He also had a wealth of information about antiques, value, time periods, etc. There was no charge for his service on the phone but I will definitely call them again in the future.

I was VERY pleased. I was so surprised to receive a phone call back from Doug just a few hours later. He was extremely pleasant and professional and said he would be happy to provide an estimate. He suggested that I send a few photos of the piece to him. I sent the photos the next day and again received an incredibly quick response (within an hour!) with very detailed information about the piece - approximate age, quality, where it was likely originally sold, and an estimated value. I would definitely use their services again and highly recommend them for their prompt, professional and very knowledgable response. There was no charge for the estimate and Doug encouraged me to contact him again for any other pieces I may want to have appraised.

I am thrilled by Doug's service. He knows his business like the back of his hand, but in addition, he has a passion for his work, and an appreciation for the context of the antiques. He also has an appreciation for the people with whom they have spent their lives and a sensitivity to the people who must release their possessions into the world. Doug Stinson and I had several phone calls about my "stuff" before Doug came to the house to look at the china and dolls I have inherited. We agreed on a set price for an afternoon of appraisals. Doug had told me on the telephone that probably none of the stuff was valuable and he confirmed when he actually saw the stuff. Knowing that none of the stuff is valuable and why, was worthwhile to me--now I can use some the things I like and donate the rest to charity.

I submitted the request for the appraisal about 9PM on a Thursday evening via e-mail, and I received a call at 7:30AM the next morning. After I described the items, Mr. Stinson indicated that he would not be a good person to provide anything more than a general appraisal, but he suggested a general price range for the item and referred me to a specialist who dealt with that specific type of clothing. He didn't charge me for this advice, which gave me enough to eventually be able to submit the items for sale on eBay. Excellent and professional service, and I would absolutely recommend him for anyone who needed this type of appraisal done. Could not be happier with his response time and useful advice!

I emailed Doug Stinson photos of 3 items I was interested in having appraised as part of my father's estate settlement. I explained to Doug that my intention was not to sell the items but rather distribute them amongst my siblings. Nonetheless, I was interested in learning more about the items and their general value. Doug called me that afternoon and proceeded to offer a detailed "Antiques Radish" style description of each. We spent about 1/2 an hour on the phone discussing the items after which we decided it wasn't necessary, given my purposes, for me to bring them in to him for further study. I offered payment for his services but he politely refused. The next time I have something to be appraised, Doug will be the appraiser I seek out!
