The work was top quality and the crew was extremely polite, professional, and respectful of my home. They did fantastic work and cleaned up well. They showed up on time and on schedule. I am hiring them agaim to fix flashing on my deck and to replace an atrium door. They are really good at pointing out things that need to be fixed so that you can alleviate more expensive problems down the road. They even sent a nice thank you gift! Top quality firm!

+ -1 moreGot a couple of estimates on the windows and patio door. The price was pretty good for the project. They suggested Harvey windows and we were able to agree on Harvey slimline windows which reduced the cost a little. I chose new construction because the sills and outside trim were all rotted. They also installed a French patio door which required some extra work enlarging the opening, but they did it within the quoted price. The quality was outstanding and the finish work was what I was hoping for. It took about 3. 1/2 days to finish and the entire crew was professional. Recommended to anyone looking for work.

+ -1 moreI have been meaning to rate Band D on this project for over a year and just kept putting it off, you know how that goes. Anyway all went well. The guys did discover the wooden chimney was partially rotted and needed to be rebuilt. Of course I was disapointed to find the wooden chimney rotted and the added expense to repair it. In the end they did an outstanding job and we get comments on the quality of their work often. I must give credit to Marty and his crew. Marty asked me every day if I had any questions about the project. We love the look of the new siding and the chimney is, well, .....WOW! Thanks to Marty and crew. Thanks to Dan for and quot;throwing inand quot; the super corners too.

+ 1 moreMy husband and I were not really pleased with them. We spent more than a $100,000 on their services. As far as we were concerned, there was only one man that really met our criteria and that was the person who initially put the frame up. He was a framer. They had to do the roofing over because it was horrible. It was certainly unacceptable. They were really upset with us because we weren't happy with it. My husband and I had proved by looking at the roofing of all kinds of houses, and definitely we saw that I was in the right. My husband doesn't want to complain but I pick up on things if there is a lot of money involved. We thought their price was alright.
Description of Work: We used B & D Construction Inc for making two additions to our house. One was on one side of the house and the other one was on the other side. We had the roof done over and the entire house was completed as well. We also did the roofing on the newer part.

New window was installed on 11/14/2012. VERY happy with results. Workers doing the job were extremely friendly and professional. After work was completed area was cleaned of all debris. I would recommend this company.

+ 4 moreI found this company on Angies list, Thank you Angie list, I called the company and asked if they gave free estimates, they did, and they came to my home, took measurements, looked at everything on and around the house and within 5 days I received an estimate in the mail. I called them back because I knew I got a very fair estimate for all the work to be done. I also picked this company because they were rated 5 stars with certifications on applying CertainTeed roofing and siding. Not many companies out there have there certifications, beware, this company knows what they are doing when working with CertainTeed products. thiscertification has to be met by CertainTeed trained professional standards. This vinyl siding is not like the old days, this is a great product. I went to Band D 's show room to look at what I would be purchasing, Well let me tell you, from the moment I walked into there business I was warmly meet by everyone, I brought along my brother and sister-in-law and they too were very impressed with our greeting. My family was introduce to everyone one who worked for this company, I was made to feel very important as a customer to all, it was a great experience for me. I was taken into the show room and I was able to see all I was purchasing, every product I picked was explained on its durablity, warrenties, they helped me pick out colors on the house, I got to see and test the windows I picked, I saw the construction and felt the sturdiness of my decking and railing systems for my new front porch and back porch. I saw my gutters with the gutter guards, It was a wonderful experience to see what I would be paying for. I had hands on on every material used. My contract was throughly explained and wriiten up for me, I went over everthing with the project manager before the job was started, there were no hidden costs. There was a forman on every job with there crew from start to finish, then the job manager woud come by frequently to check on the crew and progress of every job, asking me if I had any questions, if I was satisfied with the work, he was great. All the crew from the roofers, window installers to the siders were professional, courteous and friendly. They were always on time, very neat, cleaned up after themselves, I can not say enough great things about all the great, very hard working men I meet working om my home. This company really cared about me, they knew I had been ripped off by another contractor for thousands of dollars of poor, shady work, this company made it right, I can not say enough wonderful things about this company. Now I know my home is safe and very comfortable to live in. And they assured me if I have any problems with anything I can call them and they will be there for me. + 2 moreThe following month and a half I ended up working with the insurance adjuster Band D to make out an estimate for the work. After the first two weeks nothing had been done.I followed up with a call to the insurance adjuster and he stated Band D had not completed the estimate. This took almost another two weeks. Then Friday myself, the adjuster and Band D met to go over the estimate and the adjuster stated he needed more of a break down on a large sum of money on the estimate. This was Friday, Band D stated they'd have it done Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and Wednesday called the adjuster and the break down estimate had not been compeleted. So it has been over a month now and nothing had been started, I decided this was a signs of delayes and excuses to come and ended my business with Band D. Good Luck to anyone who hires these people.

+ 4 moreI got several quotes and B and D were in the middle. I chose them because they were nice and answered all my questions plus they were local. They arrived on time and started right away. They cleaned up everything after leaving. I am happy with they work they did and would hire them again.
Description of Work: Replaced rotting fascia board and installed gutters on the back of my house. Replaced kitchen window, trimmed out window inside and out. And rebuilt rotting doghouse entrance to basement. Fixed crumbling concrete to support it and put gutter and new siding to outside of entrance.

+ 0 moreIf you are considering siding do it just once rather than twice. I made the terrible mistake of going with spray on vinyl wasting thousands of dollars. The vinyly trapped water behind it keeping the cedar shingles wet. After six years they rotted. The chimney was rotted so much that we could pull it apart by hand. In the end it is more economical to pay a little more once than having to do it twice. I sure I could have had the job done for a little less but I did that last time and Band D, I think, are honest and fair.
Description of Work: We hired B&D Construction to remove the bad cedar shingles from our entire house and replace with Certaineed Cedar Impression siding. The crew arrived promptly as promised every day. During the job the crew discovered our chimney was rotted. This was caused by previously applied spray on vinyl siding. After it is applied it is similiar to a swiming pool liner. The mosture got trapped behind the vinyl causing the rot. Don't ever use spray on vinyl siding. Anyway B&D repaired the chimney, covered the entire house with house wrap and applied the new Certainteed Cedar Impressions. The chimney was covered with siding that looks JUST LIKE stacked stone in granite gray. I actually had to touch the chimney before I confirmed it was not real stone. The Cedar Impressions looks just like real cedar shingles from ten feet away and the chimney looks outstanding, when my wife first saw it she said "WOW" that looks great. I agree. Marty, the crew boss, and the entire crew did an outstanding job! Marty spoke with me every day and answered all of my questions. If fact he would ask me if I had any questions because no question was too small to answer. Lastly I had them replace all the gutters with seemless and include leaf guard. In summary they replaced all the siding, fixed the chimney, covered all the trim with aluminum coil, and installed gutters. Overall they do great work. The guys actually take pride in the job and we can see they are profectionists, just like us. Great job guys!

+ -1 moreThe windnow crew arrived as promised and completed the job in a couple of days. They introduced themselves to us upon arrival. The windows are excellent quality, actually better than we expected. The finish carpentry skills of Chris and Rick are excellent. They took the time to do little extra details that we did not know to ask for. Nice wide window sills instead of what we commonly see. The fitting of the interior window trim is excellent. This is the third time we have purchased replacement windows although the first time for this house. Band D did the best job by far of the three. Excellent quality windows and outstanding attention to detail. When was the last time you saw the finish carpenter using wood glue (along with finish nails) and a level on interior window trim? All the crew were very personable and spoke to us a lot during the job. Great work guys, thank you!
Description of Work: I obtained three estimates to replace 14 windows. B&D proposed new construction, triple glazed Harvey windows that included replacement trim inside and out. Four were double glazed Harvey windows for the basement. Both of the other companies proposed replacement style insert windows with double glazing without any replacement trim. One was using Harvey windows and the other Pella. Although B&D's quote was priced between the other two they were offering a better product. In addition I had B&D replace my roof a couple of months earlier and their craftsmanship was excellent so we decided to go with them again.

+ 1 moreBand D completed all demolition in one day - cabinets, counter tops, and floor were all removed on a Monday. Preliminary electrical work was completed mid-week and by Friday all our new cabinets were in place. The following week was mainly for flooring installation. Granite counter tops were installed the Friday before New Year's weekend and the plumber connected the sinks, faucets, and toilet. A few finishing items were installed in the following weeks. Total project time from start to finish was approximately six weeks. Everyone associated with our kitchen remodel was top notch. Band D provided exceptional service, responded promptly, and were true professionals from beginning to end. A few days after each payment was made, we received a written, updated record of our account through the mail. Everything went very smoothly.
Description of Work: We completely remodelled out kitchen. B&D designed a new layout to add a penninsula / breakfast bar to our former galley kitchen. They did all demolition work: removed all flooring, cabinets, countertops, and a pantry closet. They then installed granite countertops, tile back splash, tile floor, all new cabinets, sink, faucet, microwave/range hood, dishwasher, under cabinet lighting, and pendant lights above the penninsula. A floor to ceiling cabinet was installed where the pantry closet was removed. This involved removing sections of wall and ceiling and making repairs once the new cabinet was in place. which are seamless. As part of this same project we replaced the floor, vanity, sink, faucet, and countertop in the 1st floor 1/2 bath.

+ 0 moreDo get several proposals Don't let a contractor tell you what you want. The highest quote I received was from a contractor in Fairhaven who told me what he would do and how he would do it. They were the only one that did not want to strip off the original roof, yet they were priced thousands more that the others.
Description of Work: I contacted seven contractors to obtain estimates to replace a shingled roof on my house. Five of the seven contractors provided proposals. The responses ranged from $7,500 to $ 11,500 (the first four were all within about $1,400). All except the highest proposal offered to remove existing shingles, renail plywood where needed, apply 6' of water and ice barrier to all lower portions of the roof, cover remainder of roof with 30 pound felt paper, and attach 8" drip edge to entire perimeter, and finally apply max def Certainteed Shingles. Following the original proposal I had them add a new Velux skylight to replace the original on the roof (it was fogged) and replace a section of trim which added a few dollars to the project cost. B&D arrived on every occassion as stated (actually a few minutes early) and provided the lowest cost. Dan, the owner of B&D, was my first contact with B&D Construction and was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. He told me at the first meeting that he may offer suggestions but they would never be forceful. He kept to his word. The crew arrived on the day and time as promised and the supervisors (2) both introduced themselves to me. The entire roof and skylight installation was completed in just one day. I am very fussy about projects and do most all of them myself because I always felt "if you want it done right then you have to do it yourself". Well, I must admit, B&D proved me wrong. They are easy to deal with and, in my case, always called me back and arrived on time. They did an outstanding job for a great price. Dan & Nicole were my primary contacts and both were a pleasure to deal with. If you are looking for a roofing contractor do yourself a favor and get a proposal from B&D Construction, you'll be glad you did.

Description of Work: B & D Construction gave us a bid for a kitchen and bath remodel. It seemed to be a fair price for what we wanted done, but, since we are novices at remodelling, by the time we were ready to start, they were no longer available. We were impressed that a whole group showed up for the meeting. We got to talk with not only the contractor, but the plumber, electrician, and carpenter, also, so that each representative could answer any questions we had.

+ 1 moreThey put the window in but they came without the inserts. They realized it and they apologized several times and they ordered the inserts. They will arrive in a few weeks. They did a beautiful job of putting in the window. They did more than I anticipated they would do. They built a whole new window frame around the window and put in a new windowsill. They said they would be here at 7:30 and they were here exactly at 7:30. They were very conscientious. They worked all the time they were here. They fixed the siding outside and he sided the outside of the window and he fixed the clapboard. They were extremely, extremely good. I ordered 4 additional storm windows and they are going to put those in when they come to put in the inserts. Their price was reasonable. It was a Harvey window, which is one of the best windows you can buy. It has Argon glass. Today it is windy and snowing and there is not one draft coming in the window. They were very good and I would highly recommend them. It was a very reasonable price for the work they did. I will use them again.

+ 2 moreThey did quality workmanship. They were consummate professionals and did an excellent, excellent job. I liked their windows and doors. I went to their showroom and saw the windows ahead of time. There were no hitches. The windows are tight and they work seamlessly. It was a perfect insulation job and they insulated the walls when they put the windows in. They did a wonderful job and they measured to perfection. There is no gapping on the sides and they did a really exceptional job on the installation.
Description of Work: I used B & D Construction to replace 21 windows, doors and garage doors.
