They were prompt and extremely tidy and polite. They worked incredibly hard to complete the project. There were a few details that I was not pleased with and Phil came right out to correct the problem.

The kitchen looks amazing. We worried that the new boards would not blend with the old. No worries. Looks like it has always been this way. Thoi (not sure about spelling) really knows his craft.

Phil responded quickly to our call. Was able to schedule service around our schedule, and was done in 2 days. He left the house clean. The floors look great! Thanks.

I would highly recommend Phil and his crew. The woman who answers at the office listen to our situation with having to move in to our new home soon, and she figured out a way to accommodate us. Even when the closing was put off three days, they still were able to get in the next day to begin. I'm sure this won't always be possible for everyone who ever calls, but for us, they listened, made the effort and then: made it happen. When we bought the home, the floors were darkened in color and down to bare wood in high traffic areas. The refinishing process Phil did took years off the floors. Again not always 100% guaranteed for all jobs, but our floors look nearly brand new now. Another quote I got was three times the price. VERY happy with the whole experience. Highly recommend!

Phil just completed hardwood floor finishing throughout my house. The house was built in 1930 and has its original oak floors. They have not been refinished for at least 20 years if not 50. We hired Phil to redo the floors before moving into our house, so the house was empty when the job was done. Phil sanded the floors (dustless) and finished them with 3 coats of polyurethane. This included our living room, dining room, office, stairs, upstairs hallway and 3 bedrooms. He also replaced a section of flooring where the hardwood had buckled and was lifted up from the subfloor (the subfloor was fine). The floors look amazing. I literally don't think that they could have done a better job without replacing the whole floor. There was also very little dust and no mess left around my house. The floors look gorgeous, and I couldn't be happier with the work. I received 5 bids for this refinishing project. Three of the contractors (including Phil) came out to the house to do a quote in person, and two gave me a quote by email. The quotes ranged from $2,600 to 4,000 with Phil's being the lowest. Three of them came in at $3,000, so Phil's was $400 less than the average quote. At first I was skeptical because it was the lowest, but having read all of the positive the reviews here, I decided it would probably be fine. I'm so glad I did because I saved some money and got amazing results. As far as the process of working with Phil goes, he is very good at communicating with this customers, which is very important to me. He answered the phone each time I called, or called me back right away. We also communicated by email, and he always responded to my messages within 12 hours. Also, after my initial contact, he came out within a few days to measure for the quote and then sent me the quote right away. There were other contractors I had contacted who never got back to me and some who came to the house and then never got back to me with the quote (a waste of everyone's time.) I never met Phil in person because we weren't there while the work was being done, but my husband met him during the quote, and said he was all business and seemed like a good guy. All in all, I could not be happier with the job that Phil did on our floors. He's a great communicator, offers a great price, does what he says he will do in the time promised, and most importantly makes your floors look fabulous.

Let me start by saying that I've used Angie's List for almost as long as they've been around and swear by them. I've had a few OKs, but almost all the people/business with recent great ratings have been top notch. That said, Phil was even better than that. I am one of the most detailed people you would find anywhere and I often hate hiring contractors because I always worry they won't put as much TLC into a job that I would. Phil is an exception to that rule. The floors are off the charts good - much better than I could have imagined. I could probably walk around my first floor and nit pick a few minor things that might be done a little better, but that would be a stretch. And we live in an very old Victorian house with some funky angles and that had some "unknown history" under the layer of old hardwood. Additionally, there was one small coat closet that I didn't ask him specifically to do when he was here quoting me, yet her did it anyway. To say I am pleased would be an understatement. And he did a great job cleaning it all up. I received 4 quotes and he was #2 of #4 in price, but in this case, the bang is worth the buck. I recommend Phil without reservation or doubt.

Phil did a terrific job for us. He came right on time, did the work exactly as discussed (for example, cut up the carpet and stacked it in neat taped rolls where it could be set out with the trash, as we requested), and did a careful, thoroughly professional job on the stairs he refinished for us: complete work into the corners, even coats of finish: fantastic result. Finally, he even fixed some small imperfections in other woodwork that we had which we asked him about after he had started our job. We offered to pay him extra for this work, but he said they were such small requests it wasn't a problem. Great service.

I was very pleased with the punctuality, response time and ability for Phil to meet all of his stated deadlines. His work is truly amazing, we inherited some floors that were very very worn and I was suspicious if they would be able to be reclaimed. They look like new and are seamless in their transition to the brand new hardwood he put in the bedrooms

Showed up promptly and went straight to work. Very professional. Only minor glitch was that they forgot alligator clips for the breaker, but they also were prepared with an extension cord that worked just as well. They came back the next day, again on time, for the final coat of poly; they finished the job well and fast. The results were excellent, and they even provided me a small amount of extra poly for another project!

Went great. The floors are BEAUTIFUL. Phil did the work exactly as described, in exactly the time specified, for exactly the price quoted. My one suggestion is that Phil should probably keep track of his appointments in a more systematic way. We had scheduled an initial appointment to meet at the apartment; when I called Phil to see whether we were still on, it turned out he'd forgotten both the time and the place. I was calling him on his cell, so it seems like he just needs to add appointments to the cell phone that he already has. I gather that a lot of his scheduling is done on little slips of paper in his pockets. But other than that, everything was perfect. I would use Phil's services again in a heartbeat, and I would surely recommend him to my friends.

Phil responded to my request for an estimate the same day I called, and we made arrangements to meet one evening later in the week. He arrived at the appointed hour, thoroughly explained the process, how long it would take and how much it would cost. We discussed the timeframe for doing the job (a one-week window while my tenant was away on vacation), and Phil confirmed that he could get the work done within the specified timeframe. Since his price was 20% lower than the other estimate I had received--coupled with the fact that he had been so thoroughly professional and easy to work with--I hired him on the spot. Phil and his crew arrived on the agreed upon start date, at the agreed upon time, and set to work immediately. They clearly knew what they were doing--they used plastic sheeting to control dust (very effectively), and the electrical hook-up for their machines was done quickly and effectively as well. they sanded the floors (oak, and maple), applied a seal coat, and two coats of poly. The floors look fabulous! Phil did an outstanding job. I will use him again when we do the floors in our section of the house, and I would recommend him without reservation.

Phil was excellent to work with. He was punctual for his estimate appointment, extremely professional and knowledgeable about his trade. His pricing was not the highest and not the lowest we got, but we felt like we were in good hands with Phil based on what he explained with the process and his recommendations. The work was done on schedule. There was never an issue with clean-up, noise, etc. The floors are beautiful, and we are actually having Phil come back to do the second part of the estimate (we had to delay the rest of the work in the hallway and the stairs - had nothing to do with Phil). Based on the work Phil did in our sons bedroom, we are not going to ask anyone else for an estimate, we know we will be happy with the work. I would highly recommend Phils service to anyone looking for work to be done with hardwood floors.

Phil and his crew were fantastic! We needed the floors in our new condo sanded (to get rid of the yellowed finish) and redone. The price was very reasonable, the work was immaculate. He was very knowledgeable. He has done floors for us before and we were well set with him. He was good. I recommend him because he calls right back and is punctual. He seems to know what he is doing with the product.

Everything went as promised. The only issue was after Phil and his team left, I found a couple of area that didn't seem to be quite right. Phil came back, explained (rightfully) one issue was actually not from the floor - but actually from my wall but the other issue was a flaw in his work. He returned as promised and repaired the work and it looks great. I never get upset when a mistake is made. Things happen. What separates a good provider from the bad is how they respond to the problem, and Phil absolutely took ownership , and made sure the job was done right.

Phil's Floor Services sanded, stained, and refinished the oak floors in 6 rooms in our house, plus a hallway and staircase. We are extremely happy with the price, the quality, and Phil's willingness to fit us into his schedule. Phil refinished our floors on short notice (we had just a few days between closing on the house and our move-in date), and gave us a great price. The floors look absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't find any noticeable dust in the house after they finished. His crew was very clean, very prompt, very professional. I will call Phil when we need to refinish other floors, and I will definitely recommend him to others.

Phil got back to me promptly and uses email. He speaks good English. He gave me a quote over the phone based on room dimensions. He and his worker were polite and courteous. There was not a speck of dust left when they were done. The floor is like glass! Beautiful. Having floors sanded can be stressful and disruptive but he made it much easier.
