Metropolitan Plastering & Painting

We hired MPP to paint our newly constructed porch. Rafael was responsive to my initial request and I thought the price was very fair after getting 3-4 other quotes. The crew came as scheduled and did an amazing job. I was nervous about the paint job since it is a brand new porch, but MPP exceeded expectations. In fact, they did such a good job that we had them back to scrape and plaster over some popcorn ceiling in our living room. Not surprisingly, they did a great job with that too. Looking forward to working with MPP again!

They were very on time, super friendly and even performed the job quicker than expected. The owner Rafael is also a very nice dude. Highly Recommended!!!!!

I was especially impressed by Metropolitan's prep work. They started by scraping, then used a power sander, and finally pressure washed everything. The actual painting went well, too. House and outbuilding look 100% better, and because of the prep work I expect the paint job to last a while.

It was a pleasure working with Rafael. He always answered his phone, was up front and honest with his pricing and the quality of his work was excellent. We had some electrical work done in our front foyer and Rafael made it appear as though the walls hadn't even been touched. Would highly recommend Metropolitan for any plastering/painting jobs. I had even called some other local plaster companies in the Milton area that came highly recommended but they were double the price of Rafael and didn't even offer to paint (which Rafael did). AND he did it all the week of Thanksgiving so that we were able to host!

Like many in and around Boston, we live in an old house with plaster. We had some areas of water damage on the third floor, and some additional plaster repairs necessary after remodeling on the second floor, including fixing some areas we had tried to repair ourselves. We also had a bedroom in need of some repair and painting, and as if that weren't enough, we had a skylight installed and needed new plaster filled in around that. Rafael got in touch promptly, took a look at our laundry list, gave me an estimate way before I expected one, and made our house look amazing. He repaired everything, made the skylight look original, and even made sure to match the texture of the existing plaster - not easy! He also painted our bedroom, including the ceilings - and this is a bedroom built in to an attic space, so there are sloping ceilings and a lot of corners. He took measures to keep the rest of the house clean, and cleaned up so well when he was done. We really could not be happier with his work and how quickly he finished, and would absolutely recommend him.

Rafael and his crew recently did fantastic work on our Victorian home. We hired him to repair the aging, damaged horse-hair plaster ceiling in our bedroom that has been neglected for many years. Rafael promptly responded to my request for an assessment and came over the same day. He sent over a quote in a timely manner and we booked the work to be done. He completely redid the bedroom ceiling, putting up new drywall and painting it. He also put in crown molding to match the rest of the home and replaced the ceiling fan with a newer unit. Additionally, we had some water damage in our bathroom happen around this time and he was able to tack this work onto this project without any issues. Patching a large hole in the bathroom ceiling left by a plumber, installing insulation and painting. Even for such a small project, Rafael took great care and pride with his work, going above and beyond what most contractors normally would. He truly appreciated the house and saw the potential in it to be properly restored. I knew we were in good hands throughout the process and was not disappointed with his work at all. I very much look forward to our next project with Rafael and his team at Metropolitan Plastering & Painting.

Rafael and his crew did an amazing job painting my 200 year old home in the historic district of Lexington. Spend half the time doing great prep and half the time carefully painting. The crew was hard working, efficient and highly skilled. Rafael is extremely easy to work with, and a great communicator. He is also very open to learning new methods and approaches. Do yourself a favor and hire Rafael and his team!

I live in a building over 100 years old. Three rooms needed plastering and painting badly. There was a lot work needed and they did an excellent job. They even scraped the radiators which haven't been scraped in who knows how many years. You cannot tell where the cracks in the walls and the wooden door frame were.

Estimated job based over the phone based on my pictures and measurements. Arrived and finished quality job in time committed. Did high-quality work. Kept dust contained and left everything very clean. Noticed insulation wanted replacing and did the labor without extra charge. I will be hiring for more jobs.

Rafael is great. He has now been to our home three times and done several projects, and each time has done a wonderful job. He and his helper Marcus are punctual, do the proper prep work before starting work, and do an excellent job cleaning up. Their work is meticulous, I would hire him again and recommend without reservation.

Rafael is a nice person, but his work is terrible. I hired him to plaster walls and ceilings. The plaster started peeling off the walls when I painted. He came back to repair the plaster, but it is still peeling and is now so uneven that I need to put up wallpaper to cover his errors. I also have cracks forming in multiple ceilings. I also hired him to paint the woodwork in my home. He and his team barely sanded and just slapped another coat of paint on the woodwork. It was so bad I asked him to stop painting before he finished the job. Save your money and hire someone else.

Wonderful work. These guys are great professionals, who arrived on time as scheduled and were finished with the work in less than two hours. Perfect job. No patches or stains.

Metropolitan is a gem. Excellent work, and especially outstanding attention to detail. They won't do unnecessary work and will decline work that isn't in their wheelhouse. I highly recommend them.

Rafael and his team did a great job on our porch painting. He is very professional, on time, and nice to deal with. His suggestion of power washing the surfaces and adjacent stone pathways was a good idea as we had a lot of moss build up. The prep and painting went smoothly, and Rafael even went the extra mile by removing an old eyesore basketball hoop from the nearby garage roof for us. Also he helped us by replacing some missing vinyl up in the roof eaves where birds were getting in. We were very happy to have this job done, and would highly recommend Rafael and his team. A+

I can’t say enough good things about Metropolitan Plastering and Painting. Our old Georgian three story building went from looking tired out to looking elegant! Rafael Vasconcelos the owner of the business is thorough, conscientious and a great communicator. He always did what he said he would do…and more. He added a few extra touches like power washing the brick portion of our garage, adding to the overall beauty of the project or changing burnt out spotlights which were too high for us to reach ourselves. If there were any rain delays or changes, he immediately let us know and explained why. My sense is that Rafael went above and beyond what the project called for because he takes such pride in his work. He and his crew did a beautiful job!

Prompt response to inquiry. Arrived on time for site visit and provided quote right away with a written proposal follow up. We scheduled the work and Rafael kept us appraised of when they would do the work. They arrived on time and completed the job the same day as promised. Work was excellent quality and they did a very thorough clean up before leaving. Rafael is very professional, friendly, hard working and I highly recommend him to anyone with plastering or painting needs.

We were happy with his work for our dinning room, so we asked him come back and help us again for our living room, basement and closet. He is amazing! He turned an ugly, dirty, disgusting living room into a like new room. It was hot and humid on the days that he performed his work. I have to say that we appreciate his help a lot because he took very good care of our house. Thank you for making this 100 years old house shine again! Very happy with work done. Hard working contractor who is meticulous about the detail and end result of the work. Doesn't cut corners. Quality work. I had both plastering and interior painting work done. Owner knows his stuff. Very happy to find this contractor for present and future work.

We have a hallway that is at the top of the house with no insulation or ventilation that Rafael was scheduled to paint on a 90 degree day (had to have been at least 100 up there that day). Rafael did wonderful work despite the conditions and even came back on a different day to finish the job since it was too hot for the paint to cure. Will definitely have him back to do another project soon (hopefully when it's a little cooler for him.)

Rafael was very responsive and did great work. His communication was great and we'd definitely use him again.

I can't speak more highly of Rafael! The job turned out to be much more complicated than originally expected and took twice as long as planned. He found more sections that were loose/about to fall. He removed all the loose plaster, did a new rough coat and then a finish coat. It looks fantastic. Matches the original texture perfectly and is solid as a rock! I wish I had known about him before I hired someone else in the first place! And then he cleaned up and wouldn't leave until everything was spotless! I highly recommend him!

On the first day that he came to my house to take a look at the room and give me a quote, he called me in advance to let me know that he will be late 10 or 15 mins. I was impressed by that. Then he patiently explained to me what he will do for the wall and ceiling. He was very polite. He had done a good job with putting up blue board on the ceiling to cover the popcorn, plaster both ceiling and the walls. There were many big racks on the wall, but now it looks like new. My parents usually complaint at everything but they both agreed he had done a great job and they keep saying how nice and polite he is. I have another room that need to be done and I definitely want to him to come back and work on it. Thank you very much for giving us a high quality job. I definitely recommend you to my friends
