Johnnys Painting & Drywall Service

Johnny was prompt in responding to my request and was at my house to do the work in a few days. He was very punctual and always on time. If he said 7:30 he meant 7:30. His workers were also very courteous and good workers. Very thorough with their cleanup. I would use and recommend this company again if the occasion arises.

Johnny patched up some drywall that was cut out after some electrical work. He did it two days. One day o plaster and tape and another to paint the entire wall. He was on time, clean and no nonsense. I asked him to use low voc paints and he got the right color and paint. He even patched a couple of other places for me. He and his team cleaned and finished the job early in the morning such that both days I would be able to get t o work on time.

Johnny and his crew did a very good job with this work, which took the better part of 5 days, including a Saturday and working as late as 7pm. They arrived always on time (actually usually EARLY), worked hard, with few breaks and were neat and tidy to the extent possible with a dirty job involving sanding, scraping, painting, etc. All workers were friendly and responsive to all questions. Johnny himself can be a little slow to respond to email and phone messages. His cell voice mail reported as full a couple of times I called. But he does respond within a day or two, even faster if you're persistent. He's a busy guy. I think a lot of the "less than A" rated reviews had to do with those $99 coupon jobs, which understandably can get made low priority if a contractor gets busy with profit-making assignments. Johnny had no problem with adding a coupon of minor additional pieces of work which came up during the process. Again, this was appreciated. Johnny knows his stuff, as does his crew. I would gladly have him do work for me again. Important note: Johnny carries full insurance, including the always important workmen's comp, and had no problem with providing me with a proper and current certificate. This is very important and one which all Angie's List subscribers always need to consider when comparing contractor quotes. A contractor carrying workmen's comp is not only protecting himself but you, the hiring party, as well.

It actually wasn't a very good experience. The guy who did the plastering wasn't aware of the $99 deal and he refused to accept it. I ended up having to pay him $200. The drywall guy and the guy who runs the painting business weren't communicating. The drywall guy didn't know anything about this discount. He finished the work and I tried to pay him, he said he doesn't know anything about the discount. I paid him his hourly rate. He didn't do a great job. He didn't honor the discount.

I wasn't thrilled with the service. He didn't use a paint that was appropriate for the bathroom, so it peeled off very quickly because of the moisture. The interaction with them was okay. They charged a little bit more than the big deal. Everything was fine other than the type of paint used, and he should have known that. The price was fine.

He was fine. He did what was appropriate to both of us. He's very good and I have no complaint's.

It went fine. It was my first time. The quality of the work was fine. I had no problems with what they did. It wasn't a whole lot different than what I could have done myself.

The job went well, preparation was good, paint colors and finish were chosen and discussed beforehand. Johnny was very accommodating and his workers were efficient and aimed to please. the preparation for the job was great and everything went well including the clean-up. I was very satisfied.

It was an excellent experience. The price seemed reasonable at that time. They were excellent about their clean up because I didn't have to clean up after them. It was a combination of price and recommendations that I decided to go with them. I usually base it on recommendations.

We had put up our own drywall & had them come & skim coat it for painting They came in and did the job quickly, cleanly & professionally

took a while to schedule and in the end might have been more convenient for him to have done it in the winter, when he apparently prefers to do coupon work, but i wanted to get it out of the way and he was very cooperative about scheduling. Project was straightforward, they had to work around a gas dryer in a small space, and so some plaster repair, but the room itself was small so it wasn't too big a job. They worked efficiently, came back for the second coat after the plaster had dried, and it looks great! I will say that Angies List still doesn't make it clear on the painting coupons if the square footage is for total wall surface, or the square foot of floor space and this resulted in a serious problem for me with a previous contrctor. To me, an 8 x 10 room is a room that is 8' in one direction and 10' in another, so 80 square feet. But the painting coupons sometimes calculate the height as well, so an 80' square room would have 640 square feet of wallspace. I anticipated this and chose a small room for him to paint, but it needs to be made clearer in the coupon.

Mr. Kelly responded to my email request very quickly. He even came on a Sunday to quote the work. However from here the communication was very poor. When the work finally began I had no communication about when it would be finished or when he would be working. The day of the final work I had locked the house expecting to hear from him about when he would start. I was very surprised when I casually walked over to the apartments and found him working. Having lost my phone number he had crawled through a window and unlocked the house to begin work. I had been up waiting for his call, I would have appreciated a call instead of a break in. The two workers he hired were sanding down the mud on the doors. The walls were poorly leveled and the new molding he attached to the walls was fit was so poorly fit it had a 1/4 step. I complained and he applied copious amounts of bondo or some kind of filling compound to the joint. He offered to sand it down but at this point I was so upset at his lack of skills I paid him and told him to clean up. After paying him the agreed upon quote for the work he told me I had to pay for his materials. In the quote process I was going to provide materials and the items I didn't have he told me he would have something. I would have happily paid for materials if it had been part of the quote, but instead he purchased items I had not agreed to pay for and charged me. No mention of materials cost was ever brought to my attention until the end of the job. I took him at his word that the quote was the quote. In the end my walls & molding were finished in an unprofessional manner and my house left filthy. I would NOT recommend this contractor. I am planning on having the walls fixed by a reputable company.

It went well. He was quick and did his job. He was neat.

Arrived exactly on time - set up quickly and went to it -- me and my husband are absolutely thrilled with the level of quality and professionalism -- we have an older ranch with some "quirks" and it came out amazing!

No service was performed. I am trying to get a refund for this "deal".

I was unable to schedule work on my living room ceiling around caring for my infant twin grandsons despite a number of attempts.

First class!!! Always came to the house to work as planned. Always cleaned up at end of painting. Performed extra carpentry work over and beyond expected. Johnniy takes great pride in his work; we wer so impressed, and fortunate to have found him through Angies List. Johnny was a pleasure to work with at all times. Thank you Johnny & Angie' list!! Johnny promptly returned my call and we scheduled a convenient time for him to review the work I wanted done. Within a day I had a quote from him, which was reasonable so I hired him. He originally told me it would be about 6 weeks before he could get to my job which I said was fine with me. He called a couple weeks later and said he had an opening, so I gladly accepted the earlier date. His crew was on time, professional and cleaned up after themselves during the two day job. The work was of terrific quality. Johnny was very responsive and professional throughout the entire process. I will absolutely hire him again.

Overall it was good. The one issue I had was with his workers who basically just didn't respect the property.

A few times he said he'd call back to schedule the service but never did. I even tried to use Angie's dispute resolution, but he never called back. Now I just want to move on.

It took over 9 months to contact him. It took a long time to get him here to do it. I’m overall satisfied with it.

We went back and forth several times. He never followed through so I never had the work completed.

I contacted them a month after the purchase by email and the guy was booked solid. I emailed a few months later and it was the same situation. I emailed a few months after that and never received a response. The follow-up could have been better on the service providers part. I would still be willing to work with them if the service could be provided.
