Johnny was great! We had a problem with our air conditioning unit in our attic and water seeped through the ceiling in our dining room. This ruined the plaster and left water marks. I contactetd Johnny and since it was a small job he was able to fit me in right away. He was very professional, greeted my mother-in-law, covered the work area, completed the job, and cleaned up. All before I came home from work! It looks great and is ready for painting. We tried to fix it ourselves before calling Johnny... we like to DIY! But there is a true artform in what he does. Once painted you won't even be able to tell there was a problem!Thanks Johnny!

I purchased a "big deal" from Angie's list for plaster/dry wall repair from Johnny's. After a few e-mails to Johnny's over a few weeks asking for a call, I received a call with a plan to schedule a visit to look at the work proposed. This never happened and I didn't receive a reply to 1-2 follow up e-mails. It's been 3-4 months, total, since I bought the "big deal". Last week, I send a note to Angie's list via the "contact us" option, and sent another e-mail to Johnny's, telling them to forget about the work, I'll get my money back from Angie's. I haven't heard from anyone at either company. My previous experience with Angie's list has been good, I hope this is an uncommon exception. I'm initiating a complaint, in an effort to get a refund.

The plaster wall in my living room had a bulge in it from old water damage. After getting the leak fixed months ago, I got the Angie's List Big Deal for 4 hours of Plaster Repair from Johnny for $99. I scheduled the day and time over email with Johnny to get the wall fixed. Johnny came in the morning and quickly got to work. He tarped off the floor below the damaged area and began stripping away the damaged plaster. Once all the damaged plaster was removed, he replastered the wall. It ended up being about a 3' x 3' area. Johnny then applied the coarse coating over the replastered area to match the rest of the wall. He cleaned up and told me to wait at least 24 hours before painting over it. Overall, it took about an hour and a half from start to finish -- still worth the cost per hour for me. He was very efficient and cleaned up nicely. I recommend Johnny and would use him again.

I left messages for three contractors and met with two who provided us with bids. Johnny's bid was less than half of what the other guy was going to charge, so we contracted with him. Another factor in our choosing to work with Johnny was his demeanor. He's friendly and down to earth, not cocky like the other guy we met with. He showed up on time, was curteous, and contacted us promptly when we left messages for him or wrote him an email. He was able to fit us into his schedule quickly, which was good because we were working on a tight deadline. The rooms look great and we can't tell that the drywall was replaced in the ceiling. The job ended up costing us more than the original bid for two reasons: 1) Johnny forgot to factor the hallway into his original bid and 2) we picked out top-of-the-line Benjamin Moore paint. We plan to use Johnny again.

I live two hours away from the house that this service was being provided. It was very important for me to get great responsivness and reliability. He took care of the problem, did a decent job, and it was worth my money knowing he would take care of the problem while I was not there.

He was excellent and the job went great. His quality of work and professionalism were both great. He was very good. He said what he was going to do and he was on time. His price was excellent and he was very cost competitive.

Johnny did a great job at a very reasonable price for the entire project, and completed the work quickly before the end of the painting season. The trim that needed to be painted was the result of poor priming by the original contractor. Johnny provided a very good quote for the work, significantly lower than other contractors. In fact, his rates were low enough that I might have been suspicious were it not for his good Angie's List reviews. Johnny's crew did multiple coats of primer+paint on a fairly elaborate four story building, which means moving ladders again and again. While working on the paint job, he found one piece of trim that required replacement, and worked with us to find a match (turned out it required custom fabrication). He also observed that the windows themselves hadn't ever been painted. He gave us the option and price, but didn't pressure us into doing the work. We chose to include the windows, which meant he had to go back and move the ladders all around the house two more times. He fit it into the schedule seemlessly, and his crew even helped us remove and reinstall the screens. The result looks great, Johnny was non-nonsense and straightforward, and we saved a substantial amount of money working with him. Highly recommended. Perhaps the only caveat would be that he has a relatively small crew (at least this late in the year), so exact day-to-day scheduling might be a bit hit or miss. That wasn't a problem for us; we were more worried about the weather and the end result than the exact finish date.

Johnny replied to my original request for a quote promptly, and after describing the job to him over the phone (and subsequently emailing him pictures of the hole) we set up an appointment for him to do the repair. It was during the holidays, but he came out within a few days of the initial call. I had purchased an Angie's Big Deal for 4 hrs. of work for $100, and that was all it took for him to completely patch and replaster the hole. At the time, he gave my wife a quote to come back and repaint the entire bathroom, which we quickly agreed to. He came back a couple of weeks later and had his helper do the painting. The overall quality of bothe the hole repair and the repainting is excellent, and the price waas very reasonable. The total for both the repair and repainting was around $400 I would not hesitate to use Johnny for future projects, and recommend him highly.

Great job! He arrived on time, worked hard and then cleaned up. He let us view the work to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction.

I called to set up the appointment. I even left a couple voicemails, and did not get a response. I decided not to use them, and I got a refund.

Seriously, although painting is his primary business, Johnny did a fantastic job on my plaster repairs. I would hire him again or refer him to friends in a heartbeat.

It went well from start to finish and I would recommend him to anyone in need of such services.

Very happy with the results. Johnny was able to match the textured ceiling plaster very well. Once we paint it, nobody will be able to tell that the duct resides in an opening made for a much bigger attic fan.

He was very reasonable, very fair, and did an excellent job.

We had a few guys come out and give us an estimate for the work and Johnny was right about in the middle as far as price. He's not the most talkative guy around but I felt like he had a good amount of experience and knew what he was doing. He came out the day he said he would and showed up on time. He was here with two other guys who I saw doing most of the labor but they put in a new ceiling in our dingy basement and came back the next day to sand and paint and it looks great. The job was a little complicated as there were a large number of heating pipes hanging down from the ceiling they had to cut around. It looks seamless I'd definitely recommend them.

He was fast, professional, and the finished product looked good.

Since this was a small job, he did not give me a lot of advance notice and often called the day before. I had a problem with the exterior door lock (he took the lock and knob off to paint the door -- the right way to do the job) and he had to come back and unstick it. He even offered to install a new lock for me at no extra charge. When he came back to do the ceiling, he painted another coat on the door since I did not like the original color and had the paint tinted a shade darker. Johnny is hardworking, thorough, neat, polite, and honest. He provided the best service and had the lowest quote out of all the painters I contacted. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- I plan on rehiring him for more work soon. Update: I had a small plastering job in the garage. Johnny said he could do it at a reasonable price in Aug. 2012. After months of calling he kept giving me excuses. We finally gave up and used someone else, 6 mos. later. I think he really just wants to do painting.

Everything went well overall. Johnny was very responsive and the price was very reasonable. He was punctual and completed the job in less 8 hrs over two days. The reason for the second day was only to allow the new plaster to dry overnight. The new paint job matched great as well. He was also carelul to rule out any possible additional water damage within the interior of the wall/celing as he was repairing the area. A good experience and I would recommend him for anyone needing drywall/plastering work to be done.

John Kelly was very responsive. He returned my initial call the following day as I had called late in the day. We set up a time for him to come by in the following day or two. He was pleasant and he listened to exactly what I wanted and made insightful comments and suggestions.I received the proposal the day after his visit. I found his price to be quite reasonable, it was the lowest of three A-rated Angie's List providers and it included the carpentry work. One provider didn't do any carpentry work and the other who did, wanted several hundred dollars more on top of the painting proposal which was already several hundred more than Johnny's all inclusive bid. It's getting late in the season for exterior painting and I was comforted by his promptness that they would do the job before it got too cold. The paints used were top quality. All metal surfaces were painted with anti-rust paints. They did a very thorough scraping job. I was struck that they got down to the bare wood around a doorway that was badly chipping. I knew that this would ensure the paint job would last a long time. He and his crew came when they said they would and kept me apprised on a day that they wouldn't be coming due to inclement weather. His crew was professional and friendly, thoughtful and accomodating. They made sure they replaced the house street number after they painted or primed the surface. The cleanup was quite thorough. After I had already accepted his proposal, there were a couple other details that needed to be done that I didn't know about when I spelled out what needed to be done in his initial visit. He didn't charge at all for one of the extras, and the one he did charge for was quite reasonable, just the cost of materials. To me, that is the sign of his integrity. He could have charged more for the extras but he did not. He also came back a couple days later to do some touchups and asked me if I noticed any other spots that needed a touchup. I didn't see anything that did, but I thought it was a nice touch to ensure I was completely happy with his work. I was delighted with the quality of work especially at the price he charged. He does high quality work at a great price. I would hire him again without question or hesitation and will call upon him again for some interior painting later.

We had difficulty finding another company to give a quote for the job so we were impressed that Johnny came to our house on a Sunday to view the deck for a quote. He suggested some wood repair around the lattice and I asked him to quote that part as an option. He asked what color we wanted for the stain. We had not owned the house long enough to have stained it. We weren't particular about the color be he asked for guidance on the color. We found a can of stain in the garage and suggested to use that same color. We decided to skip the wood work. Because of frequent rainy days, the work wasn't done immediately. Johnny completed the work within a reasonable time given the weather. We were disappointed in the results. There were many areas were a patch of stain was very different than the other areas. It wasn't along a particular board or surface. It looked like it was applied differently or haphazardly. It is very unevenly stained. Some parts of the stairs, deck and railing had this problem. Some stain was mistakenly applied to the house. We sent pictures to Johnny. Johnny's response, "I just looked at your pictures, and can understand, what you are saying, but because your wood, has a lot of cracks, we applied a heavy coat and in certain places it penetrated the wood more than other areas,its oil so it make take longer to dry, but it is the best product, for protecting your wood." I tried to fix the problem myself but further application of stain wouldn't be successful without stripping the previous work.

He was very good. I got him from Angie's List. It turned out great. His prices were really low but he did a good job. He cleaned up well. He just did a good job. He will be painting my front shortly.

Johnny was very responsive, gave us the best quote that was simple and exactly what we asked for. He was honest about what did not need to be done and easy to deal with. We got 7 estimates so we dealt with a lot of people and while he didn't show up with the uniform and the brochure - we didn't have to pay for all that extra stuff that didn't matter!!! He was there when he said he would be, the job was done quickly all in two days and he was with the crew at all times. He did not nickle and dime us about a number of little extra minor things that he did in order for the job to look really great even though I know they probably made it take a little longer. He used top of the line materials and left all the extra with us. This was a great experience with zero stress that left all members of the condo association feeling as though we had gotten a great value for our money. Couldn't recommend the service highly enough.
