I hired DiOrio Builders to build an addition onto my house with a living area, master bed and bath and additional bedroom. The moment I met Derrick I knew he had knowledge of what needed to be done and the character and integrity to make it happen. He asked the right questions and made suggestions which helped a lot. James coordinated all the activity kept on schedule despite some unforeseen set backs and was able to get subs in when needed. This all happened in the height of covid where supplies were delayed but they were able to stay ahead and account for lead times. They always wore masks and ensured their subs did as well which helped. What I was mostly impressed with was their attention to detail and craftsmanship. The end product looks amazing and I am extremely happy with the end product.

We have nothing but great things to say about Diorio Builders! James worked at our house most of the time and he went above and beyond. We could not be happier with how our kitchen turned out and would recommend this company over and over. Thanks again guys!

We were really pleased with DiOrio's work. We needed a storage platform built in our attic to make room for new insulation. We were concerned a carpenter wouldn't take such a small job so also decided to ask to replace some damaged siding we had here and there around the house. I called DiOrio, and they agreed to come out that week. I had assumed I'd have to make a lot of calls to get someone to come out in the timeframe we needed, so was really happy there. DiOrio was upfront that taking off siding could reveal some underlying damage to the house, which happened to be the case for us. The job went from a $3K estimate to an actual cost of $12K given the extent of the damage. While the cost increase was overwhelming, DiOrio seemed to really know what they were doing. Everything appeared to be done in a high-quality and detailed way, and they communicated with us throughout the process. They were also able to finish the work in a timely way and not keep us hanging on for weeks or months. We're planning to have them back in the spring to check for damage under some additional areas of siding.

The craftsmanship was good but all else was mind numbingly painful. If you are considering this contractor be sure to carefully inspect the contract as this contractor will 'nickel and dime' you. Every detail needs to be called out even drilling holes, as I learned, is expensive. You will need to be thick skinned as well as I was insulted several times but I just wanted the job to be over.

Derek and James were very professional and communicated well throughout the process. James told me when he would be coming and what his plan was for each day. The work he did was expertly done; he was very polite and left the area clean of all debris.

It was a long process due Covid. Meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent. We had a great experience and are more than satisfied with the work they performed. Derek and James remodeled our bathroom several years ago and we were very pleased then and immediately thought to contact them when we had some water damage to part of the exterior on the back room of our house. In addition to replacing the damaged clapboards, there was underlying structural repairs and carpentry/insulation work needed on all the windows. Derek and James responded immediately so we were able to get the work done before more water damage could occur. They do quality work, are attentive to detail, communicate well and clean up their workspace everyday. While here, we also had them repoint the stone foundation of the house to prevent and water leaks/rodent entry. They did a great job on that project, too. Couldn't be more pleased.

This was my second time working with Diorio Builders and again they were stellar! We hired them to finish our large unfinished basement into a rec room, bedroom, bar, and bathroom. This was a big project that covered a lot of areas and Derek and James excelled at every stage. They were always straightforward, polite, and very hard working. They wrote up a detailed contract describing the entire project in phases so everyone's expectations were clear, and kept me updated as to their progress through each phase. They brought issues they found to my attention right away along with ready options for how to fix them. Their attention to detail is superb - their team tiled almost a thousand square feet and there isn't a single one out of place. They have an excellent eye for aesthetics and offered ideas when I was unsure how to integrate the existing structure including a gorgeous and functional knee wall with trim around the edge of the new bedroom, and elegant columns enclosing the rec room supports. They always offered ideas without any pressure or upselling. I was very impressed and happy we picked them and highly recommend their work.

We were very happy with the price, product, and process that DiOrio delivered for our project. We had a fairly extensive remodel that required a near demo of our second floor in addition to a complete bathroom remodel with an extended floor plan. Derek & James estimated 2 months for the project and they hit that within about a week, which was appreciated because I know these projects can drag and we were temporarily living offsite. James did most of the work on our project, with support from others as needed. He's a talented carpenter with broad knowledge and good attention to detail. Communication throughout was truly excellent, which is also extremely important for a project with lots of moving parts. Construction projects are typically not typically "fun" but these guys are highly skilled and they work fast. Go in with a clear idea of what you want, realistic expectations (especially if you have an older hours), stay organised, and you will be very happy with result. We would definitely work with DiOrio again.

I decided to install a finished room to the unfinished space in my basement. I reached out to multiple contractors including Derek and James at Diorio. I asked for quotes to finish the space and received a detailed contract from Diorio, which included a timeline for completion. Diorio structured the contract with stages and payments once they completed the outlined work. Diorio managed the project including permitting and sub-contractors (for me electrical, plumbing and HVAC). They do not take payment for sub-contractors, instead I paid them directly. Eliminating any concerns of subs being paid. They also dealt with the building department, who were challenging to work with in my town. The staging went as planned. James and Derek did an excellent job managing the project and scheduling the subs. My house was built in the 1930's, so the basement presented some challenges, which Diorio handled without any issues. The finish work is excellent. I'm very pleased with the final results and would both recommend Diorio to family and friends and work with them again myself.

Derek and his people were excellent. As a person in the law enforcement field I tend to really depend on my gut instinct about people and I liked Derek instantly. He is very easy to talk to and really listens to what you want. They were professional and conscientious. Always cleaned after that day’s work. Derek always told me exactly what was going on and concerned about what I thought. He always checked in to see if I had any questions or concerns about the project. And their work is impeccable.

We hired Di Orio Builders & Designers to completely replace our lower gutters as well as to scrape and re-paint some exterior trim on the front and back of the house that had been peeling and exposing wood to the elements. We were having difficulty in finding a company willing to take on a smaller job like this, and so we were glad DiOrio agreed to take this project and complete both the needed gutter work and exterior painting. We couldn't be happier with the results of their work as well as how quickly they were able to finish. Our new gutters and the paint work look great. The gutters were installed properly and securely with screws, and are a big improvement over what we had previously. We were also very happy with how well they matched the colors for both the gutters and trim, which shows their attention to detail. It was very clear to us throughout the project that Di Orio takes a lot pride in the high quality of the work that they do. The cost was also within our budget and much more reasonably priced compared to other estimates we received. We would definitely hire Di Orio again for future home improvement projects and highly recommend them.

DiOrio was excellent. They came out for a quote within a few days, their quote was highly competitive, and the work done was outstanding. Throughout the process, they gave me updates on how the work was progressing, and they always did exactly what they said they would. Will hire again the next time I have work that needs to be done around the house.

This company lowballed their bid to get the job. Critically, they said they had three weeks work to finish existing job, then would give undivided attention to this project. They contracted to start work July 1 and finish in early August. Required 1/3 deposit up front (presumably for materials). After a month, scant material delivered to the job. When asked in June if they were progressing to July 1 start date they sent pictures of their unfinished project. When told it didn't appear they were going to make the start date unless they did some "overtime", they responded with insulting, rude, "mind your own business email. Finally showed up August 7th, two men took a day to dig two holes for foundation and asked for more money to dig a third (extra) hole. Unforeseen septic tank problem, requiring specialty contractor delayed further work 14 days. Diorio returned five days after that and completed five piers. They complained of bad weather delays but made no effort to compensate for the time they lost in June and July, employed hand tools over machinery, losing further time in August, never worked two full days in a row and never worked a complete five-day week. This company was overstretched, disorganized and appeared to be using my down payment to capitalize their other jobs. When confronted about needing to modify their methods and schedule so they could finish and accommodate the other trades before the Autumn began, they again became abusive, accused me of interfering and made threats to sully my reputation if I attempted to recover the funds advanced to them. Attempts at compromise resulted in a "take it or leave it " ultimatum from them. Their plan was unworkable and I chose to leave it, My father was a construction project manager for 50 years and both sides of my family are in construction, so I have a good idea of how it works. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in 60 years of professional and business experience.

Derek and James consistently have done great work for us. This was our third time hiring them (previous: full bathroom remodel and full bathroom/kitchen remodel). We love our new enclosed porch/entryway. It added both curb appeal and functionality to our home. It’s clear that Diorio Builders take pride in their work and truly care about a project’s end result. They communicate often about work progress and next steps. They keep the site incredibly clean and they’re always respectful of our family’s time. We have full trust in them, whether we are staying home during the project work or going away for the weekend. They always seem to go above and beyond- and this project was no exception. We highly recommend.

DiOrio did a very organized and through job of demolition and reconstruction of three different projects outside our house. We were given a through estimate and timetable of the work and Derek and his crew took on and completed each project in a timely and professional manner. The craftsmanship and design were exactly what we anticipated based on our conversations with Derek and we're thrilled with the finished product.

Derek, James and Ritchie were all straightforward, polite, responsive and easy to work with. They checked in with me regularly on progress and if there were any questions about how I'd like something done, and offered good advice when I was unsure. Great experience. $9500 was for for the construction work by DiOrio and the plumber they worked with invoiced separately for another $3225.

We had a fantastic experience working with Derek and James. We had a number of small projects around our house that we were trying to get done. Derek came out within a day or two of my phone call to survey the work we needed and walk us through the process and gave us an estimate for the work the next day or so. All the work turned out great, from the smallest project, installing a screen door outside, to the bigger projects, knocking down a wall to install a pocket door and doing a complete renovation of an old dirty garage. The team was fantastic - they were great about letting us know when they would be there and the work that would be done that way. They were always careful to clean up. When i noted some additional clean up that needed to be done, James came out right away the next morning and cleaned up. As expected with an old house, we encountered some unexpected issues requiring additional work - James and Derek were totally upfront about the pricing, why it needed to be done, and showed us exactly what they would be doing. I really appreciated the constant communication, upfront pricing, and commitment to the job. At the end of the job there were a couple more things that just needed to be touched up, and they were attended to right away without much follow up. Will certainly hire again for other jobs.

Derek and his crew were very communicative and professional throughout the process. They laid out the project in a thorough contract and kept us up to date on any needed changes. Their knowledge of the trades and eye to detail resulted in a finished project we are proud to have in our home.

Derek and James did a great job on my attic and worked extra hard to get it done one time. They were very respectful of the space and paid careful attention to detail. It looks great now and I can't wait to furnish it. Would hire again.

We hired DiOrio Builders and Designers to take on a massive project: full gut renovation of our master bathroom and powder room, and a partial renovation of another full bathroom. Like most big projects, this took longer and cost more than expected because of unanticipated events, many of which were out of our control (eg, mold, new code regulations, supply backorders, etc.) However, Derek and his team worked extremely hard to make it all come together and deliver 3 beautifully renovated bathrooms that passed inspection with flying colors. In addition to being professionals who truly took pride in a job well done, the team was pleasant, considerate, and extremely careful of keeping the work area & surroundings clean. This was particularly important, as we moved out of the house for 2 weeks during the demolition phase, but were back during the rest of the construction. With 2 young kids, we appreciated the care the team took to keep dust and dirt under control. Derek also kept an open line of communication, and we were able to have open and honest discussions of some difficult next steps. Thank you for doing a wonderful job!

We needed it all done in a hurry. They responded immediately, gave us a full itemized schedule and got everything done on time. Moreover, they went above and beyond, pointing out a few problems and then fixing them with our approval. For example, there were several unsightly bulges in the walls - big ones - and they made everything smooth and even, carefully checking before proceeding. Place looks great1

We contacted DiOrio Builders to get a price on a dormer and rear-addition. They called me later that day and asked me to send them the plans. Dennis and James came out to meet us and take a look at the house later that week. They were both easy to talk to, down-to-earth and not at all “salesman” like which I appreciated. I was impressed at how responsive they were to my initial inquiry and the short amount of time it took from outreach to sitting down and discussing the project. I was clear with them from the start that we had a budget we were limited to and they were understanding of that fact. Within a week from our initial meeting, James came out again to sit down and go over details of the plans and the options available to us. After that meeting, James was in touch every few days with updates from what they were hearing from their subcontractors. In the end, the cost of doing the work was more than we can currently afford. James took the time to break-down the costs and was patient with us as we discussed our options. While we did not go forward with the project at this time, I will be sure to contact DiOrio in the future when we have saved more. They were upfront about the entire process, kept us in the loop the entire time and were very pleasant to deal with. I also appreciate the time they spent putting together an accurate and itemized price.

Derek and his team painted the entire interior of my house. Very reasonable on price, great punctual communication and most importantly they did a great job. I just had new floors installed and they treated them with care. His guys finished on time. Everything came out great!

Working with Diorio Builders and Designers has been a pleasure. Derek was honest and upfront regarding all of the work to be completed, along with the associated costs, as well as ensuring that any details in the contract were understood and agreed upon. He was contacted when a water pipe burst during the sub-zero temps in January (thankfully damage was minimal due to the leak being caught within minutes) to re-insulate and replace a wall that had been damaged. Before we even met, he contacted and then put me in touch with his plumber, who was able to come on a Saturday morning to repair the pipe so we could turn the water back on! There were several additional issues that came up during the restoration (we live in a 200 year old house, so not entirely unexpected), but Derek informed me immediately, explained what needed to be repaired and gave me the dollar amount it would cost to repair. There was no pressure to have Diorio complete the additional work; just concern that the work needed to be addressed for the proper maintenance of the house. Quotes received from specialists regarding the additional work showed that Derek's price was competitive and fair. Derek prides himself on being a true professional and a man of his word, which was happily acknowledged and gratefully appreciated. We will definitely be using Diorio Builders for future projects!
