I recently hired Scott Mckay of Appliance Works of Boston to fix my leaking, 5 year old dishwasher. I have to say that I was impressed with not only how knowledgeable he and his assistant Michael were, but especially how considerate they were. Initially, I called a few people who told me that traveling to the city of Everett would cost me $150.00 up to $200.00 and it didn’t matter how close they were. One company was located in the city of Cambridge. With the Winn Casino project in Everett, traffic has been worse, but that didn’t stop Scott Mckay from agreeing to come from Quincy, Ma. to fix my dishwasher. In addition he was very reliable, he showed up when he said he would and called and texted me when he had questions and responded quickly to my calls. All in all, I would definitely call Scott again for any problems with my house appliances and highly recommend him. Oh, and btw, my dishwasher has a new motor and pump and is running like new and not leaking. Great Job!

Scott came and serviced my very old SUB ZERO refrigerator/ freezer. He was extremely responsive and flexible with my schedule and arrived at the promised time. He was extremely professional. Although the problem was not fixed (there is an apparent leak inside that can't be fixed), he went above and beyond advising me how to find a replacement without spending enormous amounts of $$$$. I recommend him highly.

Scott and Michael were timely in returning our call, arrived at the time specified, diagnosed the issue quickly, and fixed it on the spot. They were personable and cleaned up after the work. We would highly recommend Appliance Works to others that need appliance fixes!

I got the igniter in the mail today and started calling around to get estimates on how much it would cost to install it. Appliance Works said it was an easy fix and would be in my neighborhood in about an hour. They showed up within an hour and quickly replaced the igniter. Now the bake burner ignites just fine. They said these igniters last about 5-6 years on average. Mine was 15 years old. Another highly rated service provider on Angie's List refused to consider doing the work as I had ordered the part myself, so they could not warranty the work. The service charge for this other company was $139 (vs. $89 for Appliance Works), so I think did just fine. Mike and Scott (who I think is the owner) came to do the work. Very nice guys. Hardworking and responsive! I will definitely call them for my next appliance repair. Normally they warranty their work for a year but since they did not supply the part, they can't warranty the work. I don't really care as I was trying to save some money. More than pleased with their "We can do this for you now" attitude!

The smell did not go away, so they recommended a professional dryer vent person. They assured me that it was safe to use the dryer. They returned on July 10th, after the dryer vent cleaning. This was because my dryer was not heating. They found that they dryer heating coil was broken. They came back in 2 days, and replaced it for about $220. They were very responsive, and even looked at my stove top. They fixed a small problem without charge. They were very informative and helpful.

They sent two men, but one was only a trainee. The lid, which used to stick and squeak, was lubricated and now works fine, but the problem I had called them in for remained unfixed by the end of the appointment. I was told the machine would last another year, but that it was an older unit and parts were hard to come by. I was never told what the source of the problem was, and why it could not be fixed. (Truth to tell, I did not have the presence of mind to ask.)

Oven repair complete; stovetop not fixable. The team was very friendly and knowledgeable.

They worked very hard to get it fixed and were very helpful in determining next steps. Very informative and honest; really liked their commitment and helpfulness

Scott and his people were very helpful. They were upfront that the broken washer was not worth the repair and then gave us advice on what kind of replacement. Their pointers saved us a lot of money on unnecessary additional purchases.

I can't recommend Mike and Scott highly enough. 5-stars. They were able to come the day after I called, showed up on time, fixed the problem without costing an arm and a leg. Excellent job. Very professional and I enjoyed getting appliance tips from them.

Excellent job. Very honest and professional. Scott and his colleague Mike came over right away; they happened to be in my town. After several minutes they diagnosed the problem, and it was bad news - it would cost $400 to fix, or I could buy a new one. There was no pressure to fix it, even though fixing it would have meant more profit for them. They simply told me my options. I opted to go buy a new one. They even advised what brands were better than others. Their diagnose price was lower than most others. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Scott was wonderful. He had to come back 5 different times to eventually get the right part, etc but kept in touch, kept trying to solve the problem. He was pleasant, very responsive and great about following up. In the end I'm pretty sure he must have lost money on the job as he only charged us $20 for labor plus the cost of the part after spending hours traveling back and forth to our place and troubleshooting our stove. It still doesn't work quite like new but I think that is the stove's fault not Scott. I will definitely call again next time we need work done. If only every service provider was this responsive, pleasant and fair! Thanks so much!

My refrigerator just stopped working on a Saturday morning. I called several places and the only one that responded to my call was Scott from Appliance Works of Boston. He was unable to come out on Saturday but recommended a "same day service". He came as promised on Monday and got my refrigerator up and running in less than an hour! He and Mike were great and clearly knew what they were doing.

Scott and Mike were very polite and professional. They replaced a part on my oven and tested it before they left to ensure that it was working properly. The price charged for the repair was fair and reasonable. I will definitely use Appliance Works of Boston again in the future.

It was great! Scott scheduled to come the day after we spoke on the phone. He and Mike came on time and did a great job. They gave me good advice, fixed the water line and called the fridge manufacturer to find out if there was anything else they could do to help.

Scott and his colleague were phenomenal. They quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem and then proceeded to fix it. They were honest that the 'fix' might not last given the age of the machine and they gave me tips that might help me eek out another couple of years with the machine. I thought the price was very reasonable, their knowledge encyclopedic and the professionalism was exceptional. I trust them 100%.

He and his colleague looked at my dishwasher and made a recommendation on that as well! It was a very helpful bonus.

He came very promptly and did a great job. He was very pleasant and personable. He saved us a lot of money and having to buy a new unit by making a small repair to our unit.

They responded to my call right away, scheduled an appointment within days, were able to be flexible on the time of arrival because I had a work thing come up, and when they arrived they were very friendly and efficient. The problem was no big deal and it's fixed. I will definitely use them again if something comes up.
