BUYER BEWARE!!! The service from trugreen was tolerable and each year it has gotten worse. This year no one even shows up anymore to do the contracted service. They blamed the system then they ran out of excuses. And don't try speaking to a manager you have to go through their 1800 reps who read from a script and have to message a mgr which they tell you will call you back in 24 to 48 hrs. No mgr is available immediately to speak with. Then after 48 hours no call they tell you after having to call back to request a mgr again it is really 72 hrs. Needless to say still no call 72 hrs later. They offer free service for their errors and still provide no service. This summer they came in April for lawn service then after I called in July they finally did a second treatment and then still haven't shown up for treatment 3 and it's end of September. My contract has 6 services plus grub control application from April to Oct. Not even half the services were done. HORRIBLE customer service!!!!

We have more weeds than when we started. Company puts all responsibility for identifying problems and scheduling expert evaluation onto the homeowner. A lot of pressure to accept an auto renewing agreement. All in all if I had taken 699 dollar bills, shredded them and sprinkled them on the lawn the results would have been far superior.

Terribly. They destroyed my lawn last year fall. This spring I reseeded. Without any notice, they showed up and put weed killer down on on my germinating sprouts, killing everything. Who puts weed killer on new lawn????? And this is professional? They don't answer the phone - you now have to call a 1-800 number and that person knows not thing about your account, the service day these"professionals" will show up and no one calls back. And, they insist on being paid for a service that destroys your home. STAY AWAY!!!!
Description of Work: I was a customer for lawn fertilizer services on an annual contract for more than 6 years. THis was a good company until it became TruGreen. Now they have terrible service and ruin your lawn and the people don't know what they are doing. I cancelled this year

They did great. Everything they did, we had a couple of treatments involved, three actually. It's hard to explain what makes them stand out. They take care of the customers, they care about their customers, they are very thorough. They contact you before they are going to come, they tell you what's going to happen and when. Then when they are through, they leave you with a slip that says everything they did and what they should do next time. They have quality control people that call and make sure everything went well. They cater to the people. They cater to the customer.
Description of Work: They analyzed my lawn and told me what I needed. They fertilized it. I had weed killer fertilizer put in and we had mosquito spraying and the grubs thing to kill the grubs and also ticks, three different ticks.

Last year toward the end of the season, I was unhappy with the look of my lawn. It had crabgrass and bare spots and had been destroyed in places from crows apparently eating insects under the grass (they do my grub control also). I spoke with the technician and he made an extra effort to make the lawn look better (I appreciate his responsiveness but part of their service plan is keeping on top of problems so that the customer does not have to and he should have been this responsive without my intervention). This year I spoke with the technician again and went back through last years' problems (not the same technician). I had had my lawn seeded and asked not to have the preemergent applied at that time so the grass would grow. He promised to be back in 5 weeks to apply the pre-emergent. He did not do this. I called the company to tell them the lawn was covered in weeds at the end of June. They said they would call within three days and let me know when someone would be out. No call, no service. I "chatted" online today 7/17/2017 and was logged out after being told someone would contact me in three days with my service date. I then called the company, was put on hold for 8 minutes while they tried to get a manager. That was unsuccessful and now the manager is supposed to call me back at some time. I am ready to find a new service company. To their credit, the treatment of my trees has been successful and they look quite good.
Description of Work: I have been a customer of Trugreen for 7 years (came from Noon Turf Care). They do my lawn care, flea and tick spray, and tree care.

The technician that I spoke with was very knowledgeable and he was very helpful. They always came when they said they would. The cost is expensive. It just seems that every time they turn around, they have to do something else which adds to what you have already paid for which is the problem. It is not just them. I think it is the industry. They catch you with just feeding the lawn then they have to do this care and that care. It is one bill on top of the other. Because my lawn is just starting to come back after a very bad situation, I would just go with the regular lawn care not all the added stuff, but it was kind of getting pricey. So, I am kind of up there. I kind of shelled out now about $500. They have different technicians who do different things.

We weren't happy with this company and couldn't get a resolution. We told them not to come and they came anyway. We were suppose to do 4 payments and they billed us for 5 payments. It was a hassle to deal with the billing department. I wasn't thrilled with how the yard looked, but you can tell when they came because they leave a flag in the yard.

They're consistent. They come on a timely basis because you have to fertilize on a specified schedule in Massachusettes to prevent weeds from coming out. If you don't get the job done at the right time during the season, then you're not gonna get the full benefit of what's being done.

The deal was good. The service was decent. My issue with this company is with corporate culture. They would not stop calling to upsell additional services. I had to cancel after the second treatment and then send a certified letter to get a local manager on the phone. Threatening legal action was the only way to end this relationship. Sadly, I liked the service I was paying for, but did not want or need additional services or the constant phone calls. I know there are still many happy users, but be prepared for the hard sell after the promotion deal. Note: This is a franchise based lawn service and I was dealing with the local rep in Andover, MA. serving the Lowell area. From my experience, the calling was being done at a corporate level.

update for work in 2013 continued from last experience. We Did cancel our services after the pre-emergent was applied and the tree and shrub tree treatments. The reasons being were the lack of case from last years comments and what I noticed to be a poor treatment pattern on the lawn and shrubs. The services were canceled Again, as stated before, after a few phone calls and talking with someone in corporate, I was assured of correction of coverage and discounted a yearly treatments. Again - Yellow and nut sedges along with crab and other weeds were present when the 12 month program was started up and the sales person assured me they would be down within a few weeks to treat for the weeds. Within approximately two weeks, the first lawn tech arrived. (I work from home mostly and most times are here to see the coverage accuracy). After the first tech finished the application, a note was left with the work stating a insecticide, and fertilizer was applied but we had significant sedge and crab grasses ( which we mentioned) and they would return to treat these. After a few weeks went by, I made a phone call to the plymouth office to find out the status of the treatment. The woman in the office had no record of the treatments needed or done and could not see anything scheduled but did add a treatment for our issue. In a few days the Tech came and spot treated with a product called Quincept. (Now last year and at the time the treatment program was re-started in 2013, I was informed that there was a specific product used for Sedge grasses and it was very expensive for the Home Owner to purchase, sometimes needed re-application which they would do at no charge as needed to correct the issue). Quincept is a product used in a very wide range of weeds but sedge grasses are not one of them according to Quincepts Manufacturers web site and agreed to later by the Plymouth Manager. The Plymouth office was contacted and again asked about treatments and the product Quincept. Again she had no record of treatments and could not see anything scheduled. I expressed concern that the tech's records did not reflect or update on her records so I asked for a managers input, but was told that he was not in at the time and he would call within a 24 to 72 hour period (I believe she stated). After two days a weekend and two or three more days of waiting for a managers call, I decided to go to the corporate website and try for resolve by sending an email with my request. Shortly afterwards, I received a telephone call from someone in the corporate office stating that the just handled new customers and would refer me to plymouth. But would see what she could help me with and transferred me to someone else (which turned out to be the plymouth woman again). On this occasion she gave me a cell phone number for the Manager ( will update with his name). After giving him all the detail he was still un-able to give me a answer to the treatments given techs feedback or if he was returning. The manager stated numerous times that the weeds were dyeing anyway this time of the year but assured me of the effort to return the tech back to treat or re-treat. I made it known of my confusion here because the weed issue was our main concern moving forward with another 12 month program with Tru-green. Once again, when the Gentleman arrived I was at the treatment location, but, I asked him about the detail of the Quincept and he assured me of having the correct product and a complete treatment for all weeds this period. Including the Sedge grasses,. It has been 3 or 4 weeks since the last treatment and we still have crab grass and Sedge grasses throughout the lawn. Last 2 visits yielded no hand written feedback and / or future plan that has been the Norm. In conclusion to this point 9/30/2013 I have almost given up on this company, The treatment seems to vary considerably depending on the applier. Questions arise because, some are careful and complete the application fully, but others do not treat as program describes. This ultimately causes and is causing the mixed results experienced ( mostly poor so far). I will be sure to update this information as a report card of sorts because I very much dislike waiting poor details. As you can tell from some of our other reports, this is not always our view and being a former Self Employed person, knows perfection is not possible and acceptable compromise is at best the "Normal" result of anyones efforts. Hope my next review is more hopeful. We will update this within a few months from my logs.

2012 Was recommended for yard chemicals and such things. Last year was my first season and I anticipated a learning curve of sorts. Have a above average size yard to treat so hire them for a season long fertilization, grub control, tree and shrub fertilizer and insect treatments. Had nut and yellow sedge i belive in the yard as well as broadleaf and others unknown at this time. Weeds died off very slowly and had to continually request a retreat. This is somewhat understandable givin I missed the first treatment (post emergent) this year. The men that came knew of the nut-sedge and weed issues, but when most weeds were gone but the sedge remained. It was then they stated the sedge needed a special product they did not have, but would obtain some (mid to late summer). By the end of the season the yard was starting to look better but had a few issues. Because of these and following issues, it was our intent to discontinue services after the contract ran its course in spring 2013. The issues we had were as follows: around the pool area there were fertilizer pellets on the deck and also in and at the bottom of the pool ... tested the pool, and a few hours of worked fixed this before we began swim again the chemicals did not seem to change the water. The chemicals used killed 99.9% of our coreopsis plants and a few we are not sure of the name of, at the edge of the driveway, slowed rose plant growth as well as killed 2. After the spring 2013 we discontinued service but then were kept receiving calls that said they wanted to know why and I was assured in the correction as some weed killers can be harmful to the plants not to mention the pool. A discount was givin as a courtessy which was great to put toward new plantings. I will continue in the next review with 2013 Just became a member and my first review (YA!)

He was here just this morning. I do like that I can look at my account online, and opt to pay online, I can see when they are scheduled to come out again, they give me a review of what they did every time they come out. I was talking to the technician this morning, and he was very helpful and he suggested skipping an application because we have a huge grass problem, and putting fertilizer would make it grow more. I was pleased that he was knowledgeable and he was not just putting the applications down blindly. They come when they say.

They are pretty good. They come on a regular-basis again. I don't have a contract with them and you got a deal when you signed up for a full year but I didn't have time this year. They come and basically take good care of your lawn, over seed it, aerate it, they will fertilize it when it needs it. I don't know how much it cost but it's basically the same amount you spent if you do it yourself.
