Matt responded promptly and showed up on time to provide me with a possible roof replacement estimate. He was courteous, honest and professional and indicated that my roof was not as old as we thought and that I would not need a new roof at present. Our town records showed a old permit for a roof replacement, however it was obvious to him that a replacement was done more recently. I was prepared to replace the roof as part of a real estate sale. I really appreciated that he came out and provided an honest evaluation! While I did not use Matt's company's services, I would consider them for future work for roofing and/remodeling! I don't often right reviews, but I appreciate good honest service, so I felt I had to share the info.

We originally called Matt because of a leak in our home's roof. Out of the 3 companies we called, Matt is the only one that actually went up on the roof to check it out. Turns out, it wasn't an issue with the roofing, but with the chimney and he recommended a great mason. We also have a summer property that had a definite roof leak and again, we called around for a few bids. One company gave us a bid over the phone. Again, Matt went to check it out and gave us a bid. His bid was higher than the "phone bid" but I knew there wouldn't be any surprises since he actually saw the job. His crew did a great job and left a clean job site. When it is time to replace my home's roof, I will be calling Matt!

Matt was fast to respond and went right out to survey the damage and give an estimate, and was available to do the work within a few days, completing it in time for the next storm. The cost was reasonable, and at the low end of his estimate range, so you know he is not out to take advantage. I would definitely seek him out in the future for additional work.

I called Matt for an emergency repair on my Mom's roof. A large patch of shingles had been blown off the roof during high wind storms. The roof was down to the wood and there was rain coming into her attic. Matt answered the phone directly, made an appointment for the next day, showed up on time, and repaired the roof! My Mom and I couldn't have been happier. Matt was professional and courteous and considering that this was a small job, the urgency he showed was truly appreciated. I will definitely use him when the time comes to replace the roof.

I'm so happy I went with Matt and his team. First of all, Matt answers the phone directly and/or returns calls quickly (if he is not available at the time). He was professional, polite and answered all questions. His quote was detailed, professional and competitive. Upon booking with Matt, his team was at my property starting work in less than two weeks. He explained exactly the process that would take place during demolition, installation and clean up. All his crew were knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. They were patient and addressed any and all question we posed during the process. I am not an expert but I have a little construction knowledge and experience and am confident the job was done correctly. Water/ice shield applied to all edges and valleys. Felt on rest of roof and starter shingles on all edges. Edges and trim were cut neatly and you could see and hear 6 nails going into every shingle (proper technique). Manageable sections of the old roof was removed and new roof installed in stages to ensure they could complete the work on the area and secure it in case it rained. The job was complete within 3 days and the crew stayed well past sundown on the last day to provide a thorough clean up of old roofing material and a rolling magnet for nails around the entire foundation. Of course, there are always a few bits and pieces you will find (especially after a windy day) but I really was pleased with their thoroughness and attention to detail. Matt came by the next day to pick up the dumpster, remaining extra material and to do a final check of the work area. It was genuinely pleasure to work with Matt and team. I would definitely work with them again and give them my highest recommendation.

We contacted Matt about the roof work. He visited our cottage, discussed what was needed and submitted a competitive estimate within a timely manner. We decided to use a roofer who came through a personal reference but would recommend Matt since he was very professional and responded well to our request.

We got Matt's name and number from a friend who was very pleased with his work. He came out the same day we called him and gave us a quote within a couple of hours. Two days later we emailed him and advised we would like to hire him. Two days later his crew was here and in two days completed the work. Everyone was punctual, professional and delivered all that was promised. The roof looks great and looking at our property you would never know they were here as the cleanup was immaculate.

I would have him back in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, I am already planning on doing so as soon as I have enough money saved up for the other projects I've heard he does and could be hired for. He was willing to work with my crazy schedule to get the project done within two days' time in a stress-free manor. The finished product is AMAZING!!! Better than I could hope for! The deck now feels much sturdier and safer with the new railings and supports! All of the new pressure-treated woodwork you see in the photo is his! A+!!!

They were prompt and gave us a very thorough quote. We were very impressed, however, we went with a company that had a lower bid.

Great. Professional. Honest broker. Great clean-up from a messy job. Saved my roof and didn't rip me off (apparently like the first roofer did). I'm trying to think of what else I can hire him for.

They did a great job and I’m very satisfied with their work. It was very timely and they showed up on time and they completed the task on a timely basis. It was a good experience. There were a few things I wanted to be done beyond just replacing the roof. It was some carpentry I wanted done on a dormer which seemed to be some ware on one of the boards. He never forgot about it, he had the board ready, he put it up and it improved the look of the job. He gave me different choices. He recommended architectural type roof vs the cheapest style roof. He came in with an estimate and he kept to his estimate. He didn’t charge me more than what he had indicated in the estimate. It sounded like it was a pretty smooth deal. He said he will be out here and he was out here at 7:30 in the morning. He did a good job.

Matt and his group did a great job on our bathroom remodel. They completed gutted the old bathroom, and installed new everything - including a tricky overhead light/fan install, and quite a lot of tile. Matt also replaced some rotted plywood that was underneath the old tub. They were flexible in dealing with some unexpected delays introduced by us due to some fixtures being backordered, and one that was even sent with the wrong part. The end result looks great, and we're very happy with it.

There was a slight delay caused by the busy season and weather, but it went fine.

The project went very well. Matt was very professional and performed all work as scheduled. He is very busy and gave me a realistic date of when he would be starting the work. Matt performed the work with one other person, so I felt very confident that I would get a professional job. only complaint was the clean-up. Found roofing nails in the yard and on the deck. When I told Matt, he came over immediately and scanned the yard again with the magnet, but we still found some nails after that and a little bit of roofing debris. Overall, a great job. Matt also did a small porch roof for my parents and they were very happy. He was very honest regarding what needed to be done and what he did. His actual price was cheaper than what he estimated due to the actual roof condition.

This is my second time using Matt Hurd for home repair / construction, and he was just as good this time as a couple of years back when he replaced my roof. Matt is very responsive and got back to me with a quote within a day. He was very upfront about the costs and time frame, and I was very glad he was able to work me into his schedule about a week later. Throughout the process he answered my questions and kept in contact as needed. Matt and his team did fantastic work, replacing an old, falling-down porch and steps with a beautiful new porch made out of Azek composite. The materials are great and the workmanship is beautiful. Although he and his team are very precise and detail oriented, they also work quickly and efficiently. The next time I need work done I intend to call Matt again. He and his friendly team made a great impression on both me and my neighbors.

I called Matt on a Saturday and asked if he could take a look at a leak in my bathroom (water was coming from behind my recessed medicine cabinet and from the top of the window frame). He looked at it on Monday and repaired a spot in my roof on Tuesday. He replaced the old plywood, the pipe flange for the vent, and about 30 shingles. After I had originally talked to him on Saturday, I had also noticed a water spot on my ceiling in a different room and it seemed to be coming from a skylight, so he re-caulked around the skylight. He also adjusted my gutter so that water would drain better. It wasn't installed at an angle that encouraged water to drain (water would just sit in it and and flow over the side). Matt was professional, prompt, reasonably priced, and cleaned up all materials outside. I would highly recommend him.

Matt was professional, punctual, did a great job at a fair price

I got 3 quotes for a new roof & 1 gutter replacement. South Coast Remodelers had the lowest price for the same shingles and with the same timeframe as the other 2 roofing companies. Matt told me exactly what he was going to do, provided me with a written quote and delivered on it 100%. Matt Hurd was great to work with. As the job went along, I had some questions and Matt was very respectful in giving me the answers. After the job was done and paid for, I asked him to come back and trim a little off a couple of shingles. Matt responded right away. I was really impressed with that as most contractors would have ignored that request. I would use South Coast Remodelers again and recommend them to anyone.

Matt was awesome throughout the entire job. He always communicated about what was going on. The work was of high quality. I recommend him highly.

I truly appreciated South Coast Remodelers assistance with the ice dams. It was a crazy busy time and they were able to perform the service and honor the deal. They also went above and beyond and re-plowed the driveway.

Matt was extremely professional. He responded promptly to my calls, he was on time to come to the house to give me an estimate, and was prompt on the day of the service. His communication throughout was excellent. It was a small job, and what impressed my most was Matt's willingness to do the job. I have tried to contact several others about doing something this small but none would return my call. Matt performed the job well and completed it very quickly. He is also very knowledgeable about his work, and he has made some recommendations for my roof and attic ventilation that I will be using him for as well. I will post another review when that job is done.
