Herb came out to give me an estimate on installing new hardwoods in my living room and refinishing the existing hardwoods in my diningroom to match. From the very beginning Herb was on time, extremely knowledgable, and easy to work with. Herb gave us great advice and helped us select a size and stain that would work well in our room. We discussed at length the pros and cons of different types of materials and prefinished vs unifinished flooring. In the end we chose an unfinished red oak and we couldn't be happier with the result. From start to finish Herb was great to work with and we can't wait to finish off our downstairs next year. Herb will definitely get the job !

I was extremely happy working with Herb who is the owner of Only Wood Floors. Having worked with two other floor refinishers in the past who were non-communicative and not at all on time, it was a pleasure working with Herb. He was very responsive and easy to get a hold of on both the phone and via email. He came right out to give me a quote just after I had another contractor give me a quote. The other contractor told me he would not to remove the particle board subfloor or the baseboards before installing the new floor, and we would just have to undercut the doors and add additional shoe moldings to fill the gaps at the base boards, and he told me he only did 2 coats of poly because the stain acted like a 3rd coat (which is false). Everything Herb told me during the initial consultation was right on - no cutting corners or trying to convince me to do things that were "cheaper". Herb sent me the quote within 3 days of his consultation and it seemed very fair for the amount of work he was going to do. He and his crew arrived on time every day and were very accommodating with my requests and very friendly. They finished when they said they would and left the house very clean. There was a little dust from the sanding here and there but I could tell they did wipe most things down before they put down the poly in the areas they did the work. I asked them keep the rest of the doors in the house closed and to put up plastic which they did no problem. The floors looked great and I got exactly what I wanted. Overall I had a wonderful experience working with Herb Melo, especially because I value my time and I really appreciate dealing with honest, hard working people who are very responsive and always on time. I would highly recommend Only Wood Floors to anyone who wants their next flooring project to go smoothly and end up with great looking floors!

Overall Herb made this an easy experience. He was always on time, always called back quickly and didn't change his quote. The quality of the floors our excellent. I wish every contractor was a good as he is.

THEY CAME IN GOT RID OF MY CARPET CLEANED THE FLOOR ..WHEN LEFT FOR THE DAY YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW THEY WERE THERE ..CLEANED UP AND BACK TO FINISH THE JOB.IN AM HE SAID A DAY AND HALF AND HE DID IT

From start to finish it was a great experience. Herb gave us good advice about the newell post and balusters, and helped us pick a stain color for the floor that turned out to be great. As his business card states, he was there from start to finish of the job, which took only three days. His crew was on time, courteous, and cleaned up after the job was done. We plan to have him back next year to work on our living room and dining room.

I’ve had ton of compliments and people say it’s awesome. It totally changed the whole house, it looks brand new. He’s always on time and very professional. He just does fantastic work and is very friendly. I had six different quotes and his price was very fair, right in the middle but the quality was just excellent. Everything he said he was going to do, he did it. I’m actually going to have him do some more work for me.

Herb was always professional and respectful. The job was started on time and finished on time with a minmum of distruption to the household. The floors were beautiful and I would have no reservation in hiring Only Wood Floors for the remaining floors in my house.

Herb, the owner , came to give an estimate& told us the date he could do the job and gave a quote. Within a day , I called him and he came the next week with his crew and, finished the job in one day to our satisfaction. He is very experienced , personable and easy to work with and we had confidence in him right away. He can also give advice on the repair and refinishing of wood flooring. We would hire him again if the occasion arises.
