NEW ENGLAND CARPENTRY

It went well. he showed up on time (although the start date was 3 days later than he originally said. But he called us and told us he had a delay on another job and we said fine.) and finished the job in less than a week. he is quiet and pleasant and trustworthy. He is a real old-school kind of guy who takes pride in his work and clearly loves what he does. He is fun to watch, as he works with speed and confidence. even when my cat got out, he helped me chase her down! great guy who does great work.

I got a referral from a neighbor who has lived in town for a long time. My husband and I are new to the area (it's a summer home) and didn't know anyone to call for a new deck and some other repairs (remove knee wall by kitchen, replace rotted wood all around, build a storage shed.). So we called New England Carpentry and he came and listened to what we wanted done and got us a quote within the week. The guy who owns it is a fourth generation carpenter and has spent the last 10 years as a framer. But with the new home building downturn, he is now doing repairs and remodels again. His price seemed decent (lower than what we expected to pay, but then we don't know a lot about home repair and new decks) and we confirmed it by calling the local home depot and asking if they thought it sounded fair and they said yes. Then we hired Scott and he showed on the appointed day at the appointed hour with a crew of 2 other charming guys and they got the job done with a minimum of mess, noise and trouble. I could tell this was easy for them. It was a great experience!! I can't wait to have more work done to our house now that we have a good local crew. My husband is not happy that I'm now on a carpentry kick!
