 + 4 moreWe could not ask for a better group of guys to paint our house. They arrived on time, they called when they would be late or cancel due to rain, they worked very well together and they worked well with us, We chose a color from Benjamin Moore and Chris Parkhurst, one of the owners, usually uses another brand of paint. He took the time to contact a Benjamin Moore rep to discuss the paint quality, making sure that he used the proper grade so he could offer a 5-year warranty. This project also included two additional addendum to the contract. The original contract included repair to some siding and repair to two window sills. We doubled the amount of siding to repair, added the repair of a roof rafter and the replacement of a long window sill. Chris also replaced two broken storm windows and painted the front porch deck. He provided a quote and then a written change to the contract that we both signed. Chris did underestimate the amount of paint needed for the siding and we paid for the additional paint, but he stood by his labor quote. He estimated about 10 days for both coats of paint and the repairs and he came in on schedule, allowing for four days lost due to weather and the holiday. To stay on schedule they worked the weekend after Thanksgiving. Chris worked on site everyday with the crew making it easy discuss the small questions that always surface during a project. We would recommend Coastal CSP and plan to call on them again in the near future.
Description of Work: Coastal CSP painted the exterior of our house with two coats of paint, repaired some broken siding, installed a new sill shared by four windows, repaired a roof rafter, and power washed the rear deck.

 + -1 moreI called this company at 8:15 am on Saturday morning; he answered the phone 'hello' in a sleepy voice, and I asked if this was CSP Contractors. He replied yes and I apologized for waking him. He then said, "do you always call people at 8:00 on a Saturday morning?" I am disgusted with this lack of professionalism and cannot believe someone would be so rude. I would definitely not want this company in my home. There are too many choices on Angie's List; please do not choose this one!!
Description of Work: I did not hire him for handy-man services. I just moved to the area and need help with moving boxes from one room to another because of my arthritis, reaching high places to hang things and hooking up the washer and dryer.

 + 2 moreThe painting was professionally done, the tile work was okay, the fan is secure, the pressure washing was very well done. However, they informed me that the screened porch was not included in their definition of house and would not be power washed. Fortunately, after I showed Chris how badly it needed the power washing and told him that every previous time I had the house power washed, it was included (at a rate quite a bit lower than Coastal CSP charged), he personally power washed it for me. I asked for an estimate to paint the entire house, but never received one. I am, instead, going with a painter recommended by friends who is very responsive, quite prompt and extremely reasonable.
Description of Work: Ceiling painting, front porch painting, secured ceiling fan that was wobbly, pressure washed house and driveway and sidewalks, and recaulked some tile in bathroom shower.

 + 4 moreThey were on time every time. When rain was a issue, Chris called and rescheduled timely. The work was performed in a professional manner. The painters did a exceptional job. They were very helpful by removing and replacing the front porch & rear deck furniture at the end of each business day. Their estimate was through and the work was performed as listed. On the final day, they did a walk around and corrected any needed touch-ups required. Overall they did a great Job!
Description of Work: Columns repaired, Exterior Trim painted, number of window stills replaced, deck repairs & stained, light pressure wash. Replaced rack boards & fascia with PVC.

 + 4 moreI contacted CSP Inc., spoke to Chris and he came out the next day to give me an estimate. He was detailed in his observations and recommendations. I was impressed with his honesty and candidness regarding all the work that the exterior of my house needed and the 5-7 day time frame in which it could be completed. Chris emailed the estimate to me. Although I didn't get a second estimate, I think his price was fair given the amount of work. Chris and his team of two arrived the day after I accepted the estimate and began work. They were professional and congenial and worked very well together. They worked steadily daily from 0800 to 1600 with a short lunch break. Everyday I could see improvement to my home. They worked on my home even while I was out of town for a long weekend. And even brought my empty trash container away from the curb while I was gone. I am completely satisfied with the quality of work done and how my house looks now. Two storm windows were cracked in the process. Chris took the windows, had the glass replaced and brought them back the next day. He also gave me the left over paint so I could do touch ups as required in the future.
Description of Work: · Wash all exterior portions of the home with a cleaning solution and high pressure water rinse. · Clean out and remove all debris from all gutters and downspouts around the home · Clean entire roof with a soft wash cleaning process. This means no high pressure water will be used throughout the cleaning process. · Install 2 new pickets on the front handrail system. Pickets will be provided by the homeowner · Remove and replace one damaged/rotted dog ear on the front of the home · Perform all repairs to front porch ceiling · Remove and replace 2 pieces of brick molding on side window. Remove and replace rotted molding on a second upstairs side window. · Refinish all trim work around the home. This will include all fascia boards, soffits, rake boards, shingle molding, o.g. molding, dog ears, and any other paintable trim work around the home · Refinish entire front porch system. This will include ceiling, handrail system, and any other paintable portions of the front porch · Refinish all windows around the home. This will include removing storm glass window, painting the window sashes and frames, and reinstalling the storm glass frames · Refinish chimney cap · Refinish all doors and door frames. This will include the garage door · Unless otherwise noted, surfaces to be re-painted/stained will be washed with a cleaning solution and high pressure water rinse prior to starting any prep or paint work · Peeling areas will be scraped and sanded to provide a smooth surface for painting. · Cracks and joints will be sealed with a paint-grade caulking. · All rust on any surface will be treated prior to applying finish coat of paint · Areas will be protected with drop cloths as required to prevent damage from paint splatters.

 + 2 moreChris came by on the date we had set up (about 40 minutes late, but he had called to let me know he was running late), and we walked the property. He took notes, made suggestions, and took measurements. He seemed quite knowledgeable and was very courteous, and I was looking forward to working with him. Before he left, he told me to give him a call if I had any questions or wanted to make any changes prior to my receiving the estimate. A week went by and then 2 weeks without hearing anything from him, either by phone or by email. In total, I called and left messages 3 times and sent an email asking him the status of the estimate, receiving no reply each time. Each time I tried to contact him, I told him that he was too busy or not interested in providing an estimate to please let me know. Now, 3 weeks later, I am moving on and am working with another contractor (not on Angie's List). As a small business owner, I know how important customer service is. I don't know how long he has been in business or if he is still in business, but I can't believe that he is very successful. Given the negative comments posted lately, I am sorry if he is having issues, but it is just common courtesy to respond to inquiries, particularly when he stated that an estimate would be provided.
Description of Work: I contacted Chris and set up a date for him to come by to go over my wish list of many items for an estimate.

Chris and his partner Josh were very courteous and patient as far as dealing with our concerns and explaining costs, the process for installing the tile and any potential issues that would come up. The price was more than reasonable; Coastal CSP was the lowest of the three estimates we received. The tile looked great and was installed as specified. The team sent pictures to my cell phone throughout the process and was very meticulous throughout the install process. I actually have scheduled several jobs for Coastal CSP to perform next week. Im excited! They do a great job at a fair price. Transparent estimates and customer service! Hire these guys!

 + -1 moreNobody ever showed up on the scheduled day for the estimate. My husband even took a day off work so he could be here when the contractor came through. We called multiple times trying to make contact with him but he never received a call back. Professionalism is seriously lacking with this company.

I called him approximately 20 minutes after the appointment time and he did not answer. He didn't call to re-schedule so I guess he doesn't need my business. I'll gladly give it to someone responsible.

 + -1 moreOn 7/9/2013 I sent Coastal a message via Angie's "message provider" link requesting someone contact me about installing a roof over our deck. No one ever contacted me. Again, I sent another message, even included my phone number, and still no return call. Even if this company is super busy, a courtesy phone call would be appreciated just to let me know something. In this economy you'd think they'd be glad to get new business. What has happened to customer service and common courtesy?!

 + 0 moreAfter I had the work done, I then had some chimney repair men come out to do work and they told me that the flashing had failed. In the contract it said they would replace the old flashing. When I was made aware of this problem, I called the company to come out and fix it. They did not repair it, just put heavy duty caulking around the chimney. I did not realize that it wasn't done properly until the summer of 2012. That is when I realized I had water coming down my chimney because the flashing had failed. I tried to contact them after the fact and we had started an email coorespondence. He had set up a time to come out and do the rest of the work but there was no call or email on the day he was supposed to come out, he just did not show up. I have tried to contact him multiple times but I have just been met with silence.
Description of Work: The company did siding repair, gutter replacement and roofing (reshingling).

 + 1 moreWe were extremely pleased with the results and with the actions of Chris and Josh and their crew. The work was done as quickly as conditions permitted. The project began and ended as scheduled. Daily work began on time except for one day when the work commenced later than usual. A spell of bad weather at the beginning of the process made for some lost time so one crew member actually came in over the Memorial Day weekend to help make up for it. The work was done neatly. We have not noticed any drips on the ground. The crew was meticulous. The window glass (there were 22 windows of varying sizes) had no "slop-over" from the trim paint. The crew made sure all the windows opened and closed after the painting was done, and they replaced all the window screens. Chris and Josh were very responsive to changes we asked for in the areas to be painted (particularly regarding several doors). The carpentry on the railings was excellent. The railings look like they always had been there. In talking with the crew members (Mike, T. J., and Wayne) it became obvious that Coastal C.S.P. was a stable company with good, long-term employees--not a bunch of temporary hired hands. They cleaned up after each day and policed the area before they finished for good to make sure everything had been picked up. Although we spent a good amount of money for this work, we believe we got excellent value for it. We would hire Coastal C.S.P. again.
Description of Work: We wanted the exterior and decks of our 2-story brick colonial painted/stained with new colors. We also wanted benches on the upper deck replaced with Chippendale railings to match similar railings on the front and back stoops of the house. Chris and Josh and their crew pressure washed all the exterior surfaces and scraped, sanded, and caulked as appropriate, all to prep the surfaces for the new paint. They used paint on all surfaces, except for the decks where stain was used.

 + 0 moreEverything went great. After I got the estimate, there were a few changes that needed to be made, and then I didn't hear back from them for a week. I thought they were not going to do the job because I needed it done quickly, but Chris (owner/partner) contacted me and explained that some family things had occurred and there was some miscommunication with his partner. CSP was able to start soon after re-contacting me which was great for my schedule. CSP was punctual and completed the job within several days. Chris called me each night to see if I had any concerns and to let me know the next day's schedule. Each night I checked for touch up spots and they promptly took care of any the following day. Bonus: they pressure washed the house (brick), steps, and walk way which I was not expecting. Most of the large bits of flecked paint were cleaned up, and there were some small ones scattered about (to be expected). Paint job was done well and there were no obvious splatters anywhere.
Description of Work: Exterior painting. Pressure washed, scraped (where needed) and painted all trim work around the house (freeze boards, soffits, lintels, door frames, etc).

 + 3 moreThe crew arrived on time, ready to work. In order to keep on schedule, the house was powerwashed in the rain so the trim would be ready for sanding and painting the following day. Trim not requiring repair was sanded and painted. Damaged wood around the garage doors was repaired or replaced with PVC as needed. A new back door was installed along with new interior side trim. Three external house vents were replaced at no additional cost. Two coats of paint were applied to the trim, doors (front, side and back), shutters, and garage doors. The crew was friendly, hard-working, and professional, and every day cleaned areas inside and outside the house where they worked.
Description of Work: Powerwashed house, repaired/replaced damaged wood trim on house and around garage doors, repaired or replaced wood trim as needed, painted trim, replaced back door, replaced interior door frame molding on back door, replaced trim above front door and added a filler piece of wood to make the entry way look professional, painted doors (side, back and front) and shutters, replaced oudoor vents

 + -1 moreWe had scheduled Chris to come by on May 20 at 10am to give us an estimate on replacing our front porch . Around 10am Chris called and said he was running late. Chris then called again and said his partner Josh would be coming by within half hour to give us an estimate on replacing our front porch. When Josh arrived i showed him what we were looking to have done with our front porch and asked him to also look at our deck to replace as well. Josh informed me that we would receive an estimate in a couple days but by the end of the week. May 25. I checked with Josh to make sure he had our correct email address. He spent less than 5 minutes looking at front porch. I don't think measurement were taken. He never went to look at deck. Days past and we had not received an estimate and we were not sure what happened. On June 1 we sent an email reminding Chris that we are still waiting on our estimate. Still no response. June 5 we text Chris that we had not received our estimate. As of June 8 we have not heard from Chris and Josh. With all the great reviews Chris and Josh have on Angie List and their work, we were looking forward to having them work on several projects at our house.. We are so disappointed with our experience with chris and Josh.

 + -1 moreHad them come do a pressure wash of the home. They did a decent job, but had missed a few spots. I called and the head guy came out to look. He touched them up himself. They did a good job at a fair price and backed up their work. I gave them a C for quality only because they had to come back out and touch up some stuff.

 + 0 moreWe asked for a quote on siding, which we received and were happy with, but we had a few questions. On March 26 I sent an email asking the questions, and got no response. I left a phone message and sent another email on April 3, and got no response to either one. About a week later I called again, talked to Josh, who said Chris would call me. It was probably another week before Chris called. I asked the questions we had, and he said he would get answers and get back to me. He never got back to me.

 + 0 moreThe estimate and contract was delivered on schedule. The contract was reasonably priced. The Coastal CSP team arrived on a cold Thursday after Easter. They pressure washed the house very well to prep it for painting. All prep work was done well and completely. The exterior painting began on Monday and was completed by noon on Wednesday - as promised. Overall, a great job!
Description of Work: Coastal CSP did a fine job on the exterior of the house. All services were done on time, professionally, and in a manner that connoted pride in the work of the team. Coastal CSP worked efficiently and used high quality materials in the work. The team was courteous and anxious to provide this customer an excellent job. When a question about a piece of the work (and there were very few), the team and owners worked quickly and cheerfully to correct the issue. Overall, my wife and I could not be more satisfied, and we would hire them again to work on our home.

 + 2 moreI have worked with Chris and Josh, from Coastal CSP before and would choose to use them for any type of job. They pretty much can do anything. They are professional, on time, call if they are running late, and always leave my house in better condition than when they arrive. This time I had them install new flooring I purchased from Lumber Liquidators. They did a fabulous job. Chris was quick with the estimate and the job was started and completed when he said it would be. Chris and Josh work very well together and both are highly skilled at what they do. They are fair and honest and hard working. Those are rare qualities these days. The floor installation is really beautiful. Great job once again.
Description of Work: I hired Coastal CSP to install the new flooring I purchased from Lumber Liquidators. They laid the flooring in the entryway, bathroom and closet. In addition, they put in the molding around the base boards.

Description of Work: I called for an estimate and they came right out. I had three estimates and this company was the middle estimate. ( One higher, one lower) I liked their detailed estimate ( in writing ) and was pleased they could start right away. First a team of 2 came out and power washed the house. leaving it looking wonderful. Then a team of 4 came out and scraped, primed, painted and replaced some rotting wood. The same 4 young men came out the next day to finish the job. They were all polite, professional and personable. They worked around my schedule with some things I had to leave the home to do. I felt comfortable leaving them there while we left. I would highly recommend this company and will not hesitate to use them again!
