I hired Steve Corshia Oct 2017 to stain the exterior of my home in Duxbury. There was tannin bleed after the first coat on the cedar shingles and he blamed the Benjamin Moore stain, which was one of the highest qualities. He then applied a second coat and there were still multiple streaks of tannin bleed coming through the stain. He then suggested a Sherwin Williams product, saying that Benjamin Moore was "junk" and I paid him an extra $2500 over the original $7800 quote to put the two extra coats on as he suggested. I paid him a total of $10,300.00. A couple months later, in the winter rain and snow, I noticed one side, an area in the front, and the entire rear side of the house had broken out in multitudes of large and small blisters all over. Shocked, I called him and he came to look at it. He promised me he would get it right in the Spring and admitted to his mistake of not waiting long enough for the shingles to dry after power washing to apply the stain. Every time it rained or snowed the shingles broke out in blisters all over, up and down the entire rear and front shingled part of the house and parts of the sides and some paint blisters popped and bared the shingles . A Benjamin Moore paint rep came to my house and he confirmed that he believed the stain was applied while the shingles were wet and the multiple coats trapped the water inside. Steve Corshia apologized profusely and said he would do what it takes to honor his work and I was nervous but agreeable with that. When the weather warmed up in Spring of 2018 I called him and he said he'd be bringing his ladders over the following weekend and asked me to be patient as he needed to work during the week to make money but would be at my house on weekends and every chance he got. I waited patiently through June and he never showed up when he told me he would show up. Finally, he and his crew showed up almost mid-July and power washed the non-adhering stain off the house. I got home after they left that day shocked to find they did not cover anything and left a disastrous mess of paint chips all over my yard and bushes, deck, windows, air conditioning condensers. My interior window sills were covered with about 1/2 inch of paint chips and dirt and water was running down my two bathroom interior walls . I texted him about this and he never responded. My partner called him and he said he did not have the time and money to properly cover everything and we'd have to "take what he was willing to do." I assumed at that point, after leaving the property like that, he'd come back soon but he didn't come back for a long time. He left the property with all the paint chip mess sitting like that for almost a month. He told me he would come end of July/first week of August when we were on vacation and he asked me to leave the garage door unlocked. I got home to find that again he never showed up. I texted him politely asking him if he could come the next morning so we could discuss a plan of action. He left me a voicemail message after midnight, sounding very drunk, threatening me and slurring profanities. I was shocked at his unprofessional message with horrible profanities and would have fired him on the spot but he left the house and yard in shambles and it would have been very costly for me to hire someone else to do the job. His crew came back mid-August, leaving us hanging with the mess for around a month. They sanded the exterior and again did not cover anything and my window sills and windows and doors are covered with sand and paint chips. They again did not clean up and we have been outside almost daily with a vacuum trying to get the paint up. After that, he said if I wanted him to continue I would need to pay his guys. I was nice enough to offer to help him out and pay for the paint which I estimated would cost around $400-$500. He asked me to pay his crews hourly rate and I said that I thought offering to pay the material cost to help him out was more than generous, He backed down about me paying his staff and said he would come next weekend to spray with the oil primer. I told him that I am not a professional but to me it did not appear that the shingles were ready to be painted as there was still some peeling paint on the shingles and many were still quite rough. In addition, the dormer which blisters was not stripped & gutter downspouts were not removed when sanding. He replied that this was all he was willing to do - and I would only notice it close up – no one would notice it standing 10 feet away. During the week I was feeling extremely apprehensive about him coming on the weekend to spray and wanted him to come Saturday morning to discuss and point out my concerns with the areas that I felt needed additional sanding/stripping. There were quite a few very rough areas with lifted wood chips and peeling paint and I, even being a novice, knew were not ready for stain to be applied. I told him to wait, that I would like a paint rep to look at it before he continued so we would both be clear on what was needed to do prior to painting and I did not want a quick cheap money saving job that was not the professional job I had paid good money for. I have had two contractors over the past week and it was confirmed that the surface is not properly prepared for spraying primer and stain. I have asked Steve Corshia to come over so we can discuss preparing the surfaces and he refuses. He said he was prepared with his crew two weekends ago and I said no so now he has no time and I can call his lawyer. I am utterly in shock with his unprofessionalism and will now have to file a complaint with the BBB, call the Attorney General and go to court to fight for reimbursement. I am a nice person, non-confrontational, have never ever written any reviews but positive, but I feel I need to write this to potentially save anyone from suffering the stress that I have endured. You should be ok if the job comes out right as I’m sure many do based on a few positive reviews of him, but if he messes up, as any human being can do, know from my experience that he may not honor his work and may treat you sub-human as he has me and not many people would have been as nice as I have been. People in the trades that know of him as “a nice guy” are shocked at the way he has dealt with this situation. If you do hire him, I would suggest to just make sure you get a 5 year workmanship warranty in writing.

They re-pointed and glazed 72 panes of glass in my entryway. This is the face of my house and it was in very poor shape. I had a hard time finding someone to do the work, but these guys were happy to take the job. They came in under budget and they did a beautiful job. The front of my house has been restored thanks to their painting. They took an eyesore and turned it into a highlight. He also painted the three sides of my home that get the most damage from the wind. They, again, wound up charging me less than I expected. I couldn't be happier with the results. They did a beautiful job on that as well.

I was happy with the results. Have had him back to do some painting in my basement. Plan on having him do some addtional work in the near future.
Description of Work: Inquired at Factory Paint in Plymouth if they had names of local painters, was given a few names including Corshia Painting. Steves estimate was the best and I also liked what he had to say about the job. Had all walls and ceilings painted in a newly purchased house. They did an excellent job, doing a few extra's at no additional charge.
