The renovation work included gutting the old kitchen, putting down a floor, doing some carpentry to take care of an obstruction where the base cabinets were going, installing cabinets and countertops, installing a dishwasher, adding a range hood (vented outside), installing a ceiling fan and task lighting, building a closet, installing a pot rack and utensil rack, painting, and skim coating the walls and ceiling.
Bill and a contractor friend of his did the demolition, installed the cabinets, and installed the range hood and vent. Bill did everything else except the electrical and plumbing. He suggested an electrician, who suggested a plumber, and they both charged *very* reasonable rates. The results were beautiful. As I mentioned earlier, Bill is a perfectionist, so he never skimps on anything. For example, after the base cabinets were installed, there were several areas of wall that needed very small pieces (some less than an inch) of baseboard and quarter round. I?m sure that some contractors wouldn?t have made the effort and would have hoped that no one noticed, but Bill made sure they were installed perfectly.
There were a couple scheduling problems due to the electrician?s and plumber?s schedules, but Bill was a good sport about it. He did what he could, whenever he could. Even with the scheduling problems and cabinets that didn?t come in when they were supposed to (after the kitchen was demolished), we were using our kitchen again within about a month.
Bill has a great personality, rolls well with the punches, and I trust him completely. I would not hesitate to hire him again.
