John Carroll and US Home Improvement were excellent from start to finish. These windows were installed in my mother's home and we met with 4 firms before making a decision. At most of the other firms you are dealing with a sales person that then hands you over to an installation team....not so with John and US Home Improvement. John picks up his phone when you call (every time), schedules his own appointments, shows up on time, explains everything clearly and then is there with his team of installers when the work is performed. Installation of all 24 windows was done in one day with a team of 6 installers, all of whom were professional and experienced. My mother had one very minor issue with one of the windows a few days after installation and John came over the same day and quickly rectified the issue personally. The windows were top rated and were better than those being offered by his competitors....the windows were the equivalent of the competitor's next window up from what they were quoting which you can easily determine using any two company's window specification literature. Also, John's pricing was very simple (and included a 10% discount for Angie's List) compared to the competitors....he quotes one price per window that includes the grids, installation and insulation of the space the pulleys used to occupy. If you have lead paint in the home like we did, there is an additional fee to cover the extra expense of complying with the mandatory government regulations. All firms charge an extra fee for lead paint though the amount does vary a little by provider. Other providers started out looking cheaper but it turned out they had separate fees that got added in for the grids, insulation and anything else they could think of, which was kinda silly because why would you spend all this money on energy efficient windows and then not insulate the space where the pulleys used to go? When John came over to measure the windows we realized that the shades were going to have to be moved from their current location inside the existing window's tracks to a location outside of the tracks for the new windows. As a result we were going to need new hangers for the shades. John didn't charge us anything additional for the 48 new hangers and the time to install them....I'm not sure the other places with a fee for everything would have done that. Overall, John and US Home Improvement were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. They had an excellent window, great pricing, were professional, showed up on time, finished ahead of schedule, cleaned up everything and were responsive before, during and after the installation. I highly recommend John Carroll and US Home Improvement.

The entire experience was excellent from the time I got in touch with John, thorough the process of the initial visit for the estimate to the completion of the work. John was very prompt, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He was accurate in his estimates for the ordering and delivery timeline as well as for the installation. On the scheduled day, he and and crew arrived before time, were well prepared and completed the work on time. During his initial visit for the estimate, he also helped me remove a wndow AC from my house. It seems like a trivial thing but it is not because it shows how friendly and helpful he is and that he goes beyond the normal contracted work just to help out. I will definitely work with him again in future.

John Carroll came out to give us a quote the same day we called him. He was very punctual and polite - no hard sell. He gave us what seemed like a very reasonable quote for the work. His company installs Alside windows which get a good write up on consumer reports. Three weeks later he called to say our windows were ready. The crew turned up right on time and installed all the windows in about 4-5 hours. Cleaned up immaculately after themselves. We are very happy with the product and service.

The owner seemed to be very nice. I would have gone with him but his price seemed to be quite a bit higher than another company that I went with. There was no pressure and they seemed to be a solid company. He had good knowledge of his product and his work. He has his own workers and he didn't sub out. That was the case with the company I went with. He was responsive and came right on time. I wish I had gone with him because the company I went with has still not come. They way underestimated when they could start the work.

John Carroll, the owner, was able to schedule an appointment to give us an estimate soon after we called. He did not do a hard sell, unlike several other window replacement people that had given us previous estimates. He installs Alside windows, which have a very good reputation and offer excellent warranties. He gave us a fair price. The work was done as scheduled. The workers did a great job, and were very professional. We are extremely satisfied and will definitely use them for additional window replacement needs. I strongly recommend them!

Overall, the job was a success from beginning to end. And, thanks to the Angie's List discount I received on the cost of the siding installation, I was able to add new gutters to the job. U.S. Home Improvement did a professional job in a relatively short time (about a week). They paid particular attention to making sure the windows were framed correctly and accommodated a few special requests without increasing the cost.

I would hire them back in a heart beat. They did a great job. The crew was very professional and conscientious. Within a week the job was done. The house looks great. I do not have one complaint on the quality or workmanship of the job.

They give good estimates and good pricing, and they do very quality work. They were very responsive.

We had five terrible windows to replace in addtion to some rotted siding that needed to be replaced. We chose John and US Home Improvement based on the price and the fact that he seemed like an honest and knowledgeable guy. The day the work was scheduled was freezing, but John and Jack showed up and spent the entire day working away and taking the time to do the job right depite the weather. Overall we had a great experience with US Home Improvement and will definitely use again in the future if needed.

The guys from U.S. Home Improvement were great. I give them my highest recommendation. They had a complicated job in replacing my window (which was a weird, non-standard size.) Their estimate was much more affordable than the competitor's,they did excellent work and -- most importantly -- they were extremely friendly and pleasant to deal with. Just a bunch of good guys. Ask for John!

We have a late 1940's cape which had clapboards covered by cedar shingles. We could not keep paint on the house to save our lives. There was a moisture problem that needed to be resolved, not covered up. The windows were the originals - difficult to clean, not airtight, a couple leaked, and a couple were mis-shapen due to house settling. We also needed new exterior and storm doors along with new gutters and shutters, and replacement of the basement windows. I work for Partners Healthcare and had seen US Home Improvement listed as one of our discount "perks", then of course looked them up here on Angie's List to read the reviews. A year ago, we had Jack come out and give us an estimate, along with a couple other companies. We knew after seeing the products that US Home Improvement used and talking with Jack that we wanted to have them do the work, but we had to get the money together to do the whole thing. Once we secured the funding, we called back and John came out to visit and finalize the quote. We felt it was a very fair quote, signed it and gave him a deposit that day. Within 2-3 weeks, as John had told us, the windows were in and they were ready to install them. They completed all of the windows and the exterior doors within a few days. It actually took us longer to get things out of their way to give access to all the windows than it did for them to do their work... Next came the demo of the old shingles and clapboards, and the start of the siding. We had some terrential rain for days in the middle of this, but they picked right back up and started again when the weather improved. We had some water come in during the rain, (but luckily no damage) and they made sure when finishing up the siding that we would have no leaks whatsoever when they were done. This has been tested time and time again this fall. For the first time in years we have no air or water leaks! John coordinated the dumpster arrival and pickup, and gave us an electrician to call to not only do what John needed with moving the service while the siding work was ongoing, but also to upgrade our service which was something we had wanted to do for some time. All of the work on the doors, windows, siding, electrical, gutters and shutters was complete in less than a month, which was great, considering the amount of weather interruptions we had. The quality of the work and materials was excellent. We brought a couple of small concerns to John and/or the workers during the project and they were eaach resolved with care and to our satisfaction. I'm very picky, and yet I was extremely satisfied with their work and the quality of the product throughout the project. Our house was an embarrassing mess of peeling paint before they started, and now looks like a brand new house. We have had numerous compliments. We have noticed a big difference in the sound level from outside with the new doors and windows installed, and hope to also see a decrease in heating costs since the air is no longer blowing through. I would definitely recommend US Home Improvement to others, and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Overall I had a great experience with US HOME IMPROVEMENTS. They were punctual, professional, and did a quality job.

After I described the problem, the manager summarily dismissed me saying it was a roofing problem and to call a roofer. When I explained that I had my roofer look at the problem and had advised me that it required a window/carpenter to remove the aluminum frame around the top of the window, he rudely told me "I've been doing this since '78 and I know what the problem is". I suggested he actually come visit the house to he could make an assessment himself, but he wasn't interested in doing a repair. Speaking with the proprietor of US Home Improvement was one of the rudest experiences I've had and would never use a firm so lacking in professionalism, uncaring about customer satisfaction, and seemingly without knowledge of solving a basic window insulation problem.

Excellent! John arrived on time to give us an estimate - we had the estimate before he left. Called to schedule installation as soon as the windows arrived and completed the work in the time he estimated. The work was well done, everything was cleaned up when they left. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

We called US Home Improvement for a quote and they returned the call very promptly. Jack came the next day to give us an estimate. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous and not at all pushy. Their estimate was in-line with other quotes we received and we chose them because of their experience (25 years in the business) and their Angies List member discount. Windows and door were ready in three weeks as they promised and they came to start the work the very next day. The work crew consisted of three people which also included either Jack or John (the owners). They completed all the work in a day and a half. They left everything very clan and tidy. We were very satisfied with the experience from start to finish.

Neat, clean, a total joy to work with this company.

Contacted John Carol at US Home Improvement, along with other contractors, in mid September. He was able to stop by that week to take measurements and give a written estimate. I contacted him in about 10 days, after all other offers were made to me, and accepted his offer on the condition that we write a more detailed contract, due to the demands of my condo association. John was willing to do that and came out for a 2nd and final measuring, during a convenient time for me, with his helper Jack(?), who was also very friendly. We wrote a more detailed contract and I put a 10% deposit on the job (Oct 2nd). He said the windows would take at least 3-4 weeks to be made. I contacted him in about two weeks to update my contact information, that went smoothly, and He let me know that he was still waiting for the windows to be delivered. In about two weeks time he called me back to let me know he had a cancellation and could come out to do my windows on Oct 31st. He arrived at the stated time with two other workers. Overall the job took about 6 hours, everything went smoothly, and they left the job site as clean as it was when they arrived. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend US Home Improvement to anyone seeking similar services.

They were very time efficient. They showed up when they said they would and they did their work in a timely manner. The workers were very good at what they did and were very price competitive. They were nice and very personable. They knew they had a time frame to get it done in and were able to complete that.

The installation was very very good, very thorough and reasonably careful. Good quality windows. They have done other work for me that I have been very satisfied with. Two issues this time, tho. 1. They left stickers and tags on the outside of the windows where it is very difficult for me to get at. 2. They removed the existing aluminum trim but, I did not realize that they wouldn't be replacing it. My bad for not anticipating that, I guess, except now I have to hire someone to replace it.

Great! This was all installed around a remodel I was doing with my basement with a very good Local New House and addition builder. John and Jack participated with care installing the windows and supervising the crew installing the siding. The people were easy to work with and cleaned up each day before leaving even though they had the worst weather conditions to work with as this was done in February and March.

U.S. Home Improvement planned the project in the order that it had to proceed. They ordered the replacement windows, received them on a timely basis, installed the new windows when they said that they would and then measured the house for siding and gutter replacement. Several weeks later, the entire team returned and performed the siding, insulation and trim. Many people have seen the house since it has been sided and they cannot believe how well the job came out. My wife grew up in this house and she was amazed in the workmanship that we received from the US Home Improvement team.

The estimate was performed and measurements made in one visit. The windows were ordered and after they arrived a couple weeks later, the windows were installed promptly. Work was performed in a professional manner. Staining of the windows frame is not included.

I chose the company from Angie's List. John Carroll came within a day to give us a quote and the day after that to measure. He promised to install within 4-5 weeks, which he did. They were fast, did a thorough install, were very courteous, and cleaned up thoroughly.
