Became involved with this company through Angie's List big deal--from the beginning the company and owner was unresponsive. I purchased in April and was unable to get a straight answer as to when they would perform the service. When I finally spoke with the owner on the phone he sent a contract with a price that was way above the Angies List deal (even though my deck fell within the parameters of the deal). I feel because he couldn't up-sell me he wasn't interested. Terrible customer service! In the beginning of June I asked for a refund.

I initially found the name for Seal-a-Deck on Angie's list, and was impressed with the reviews. I sent an email to the company, which prompted a phone call from Michael within a day. We talked about what I was hoping to accomplish: make the worn and grey deck that we had look more like it did when it was installed. I had filled out an on-line estimate form, and he gave me an idea of what the total charge would be. But, he also asked me to send him photos of the deck, so that he could refine the estimate. I did so, and he was able to lower the original estimate for the work. The work would involve several steps: a power wash, followed by an examination of the deck and repairing any nail problems, then a staining and - if needed - a second coat. Michael was very clear with me as we talked about what he and his crew would do. He called me the day before an opening arose, and told me that the first step (power wash) would take place the next day, which it did. The person from the company showed up on time, was professional, and did a great job. The power wash alone made the deck look great. I was told that the remainder of the job would be done within a week, which proved to be true. A few days later, a two-man crew came (Michael had called the day before to tell me they were coming) and did the deck review and the first coat. It was a warm day and they told me that it would only take a few hours for the first coat to be dry enough to put on the second. They left, and returned a few hours later for the second coat. They did that efficiently as well, and when they were done, they cleaned up after themselves. All the people I met or spoke to on this project were great and very professional. We're anticipating having Seal-a-Deck come out each year from now on to help us keep our deck looking as fantastic as it does now.

My parents who live in Peabody hired the company. They were very happy. The company was prompt, reasonably priced, and did a great job. They came back and told my parents how to care for the deck over the winter. The employees were professional.

The work done was very good- I'm very happy with the result. It took a little longer than expected for work to start on the deck, but muchof that had to do with the weather, and the backlog of deck work arising from it. They also were very knowledgeable and provided assistance with some of my realted inquiries. (I wanted to put in an underdeck to finish the roof of the deck and block drips- he gave me a little advice, but honestly told me he had no experience with the product and couldn't install it). They also suggested a repair guy to replace some damaged boards, who worked out fine.Two visits were needed to complete the work. They were very prefessional, good with answering questions, and, most importantly, did a great job- absolutely no regrets. I recommend them without reservation.

Michael was very responsive. A few days after I deposited 50%, his crew arrived to power wash the deck. Ten days later they came again to lightly sand and paint the deck. It is a very good experience. I will have future deck services with them, and definitely recommend them to anyone.

There were a few issues with the first work they did (some marks in the sealant from furniture that was put back too soon), but the company quickly responded and fixed these issues by resanding the surface and resealing. Overall, very pleased with the work the company did. If we had another deck, we would get this company to do that as well.

Overall, the company got the job done, but they didn't respond as quickly once they had the deposit. The process started over the internet, including a set photos emailed to the company. It was a different approach to doing an estimate, and we liked it. The owner got back to us in a timely manner. We approved the project and sent a deposit. We had to wait too long for a confirmed time window when the work would be done. We had hoped to use the deck during our family's visit in early August, but the work was not done until just before they came. Since the stain's brochure suggested a five-day waiting period before use, we did not have use of our deck until after our family arrived. The company did a good job on the project and billed us promptly. We will pay for the work that they did, and say thank you. Beyond that, we will not promote, nor will we bad-mouth, the company. We are service professionals ourselves, both with background in Sales. We know that the buying experience must be GREAT from beginning through to the end if we want to get positive feedback. Our experience was uneven.

Michael responded very quickly to my initial phone call and came out to give me an estimate. He was very thorough and explained everything to me and even figured out ways we could save on costs. The deck was washed and treated as promised, except for the bench. When I called Michael to discuss it, he immediately sent his guy out, and everything was done to perfection.

They were outstanding in terms of their quality of work, professionalism and communication. They were excellent and their final product was excellent too. I would definitely use their services in the future.

They really provided an excellent service. I felt their price was very fair and their quality was very good.

Unlike our two previous companies, they were interested in getting our business. The work was done on schedule and the resident are happy with the results

Michael (the owner) was prompt in answering our phone call and providing the estimate. The crew were professional, showed up on time and performed the work to our satisfaction, which included preparing and staining the front porch and rear deck. They also performed minor repairs to our satisfaction.

Great - responsive, accomodating, prompt

I was very impressed with how quickly they were able to give me a quote, the sales woman I spoke with was knowledgable and I was sold on their "system" to refinish decks. I also loved the on-line payment system. The workers were punctual. The problem came when the Penofin was put down. It wasn't applied correctly and the deck was sticky for months afterwards. I believe the issue was that they were unfamiliar with the product, however, I've applied it myself and the directions are pretty clear and easy to follow.

So far they have been prompt, great follow up. Answered all of my questioned in a timely manner.

We recently purchased our first home in Danvers, MA - and promptly got our first dog. As such, we decided that we needed to fence in the back-yard. We had a beautiful ceder fence installed. We LOVED the natural ceder color, but wanted to make sure we protected it (on the advice of our fence contractor). We contacted Seal-A-Deck, and they gave us our estimate - and put our minds at ease that they could protect the fence, while still retaining the natural look of the wood. The team showed up on time just as scheduled - and they finished the project in one day! The team was fantastic. They were wonderful with our puppy (they made sure the gate to our fence was latched so she couldn't get out, etc). They took EXTRA care when working around our flower beds - they were so clean, it was like they were never there. We plan to put a deck in next year - and the first thing I will do is call them to make sure it is protected. I absolutely couldn't recommend them any more highly.

We hired Seal-a-Deck to oil our front deck. They were very responsive. The quote process was both clear and easy and the payment process (on-line) was also very easy. We asked that they use Penefin (sp) oil on our Ipe deck and I believe they were a little unfamiliar with the oil. Although the job was done on time, the oil wasn't wiped off sufficiently so it was a little sticky. This was a relatively minor issue.

I used them in past to restore a deck on a home in Peabody. He responds quickly to my phone calls, shows up on time and is very thorough in his attention to detail when restoring something for me. I'd highly recommend him to others!
