Saulnier Wood Floors

Very professional, but quality not as advertised. Some gaps in the finish; small curly hairs left in the finish and sawdust left in between the floor boards in places. Would have preferred to pay less for this quality, or pay more for the quality we were after.

I wanted to have a good experience. Lots of solid Angie's List reviews and super fast response from the provider through Angie's List messaging. Sent someone out within 48 hours, at a time that was convenient for my family, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the "good" stopped there. Seems like one of those companies that isn't all that interested in smaller jobs. We were looking to refinish about 500 square feet and were met with an unenthusiastic salesman who basically said "come down to the showroom when you are ready to look at samples/ideas". Still haven't heard back from them in terms of an estimate or next steps. Guess our job wasn't worth their time.

We had Paul and his team install new hardwood in our living room and refinish our dining room. We were so pleased we had him install new hardwood in our kitchen. Paul is excellent to work with - accommodating and flexible. The work his team does is outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Paul and would recommend him to anyone

They did the most amazing job!!! I am super particular( dare I say Picky) but know what good quality work is. They were fantastic and left the house perfect. The floors were insanely smooth and perfect. I would and am going to highly recommend them to all I know and anyone can get in touch with me.

Performed the job within three days. Carefully sealed off other areas with plastic sheets to keep dust out. Came at arranged hours, applied coats within two days. Performed an excellent job.

Did not bother to call us back even when we had hired them twice before over the years

Easy to coordinate Saulnier's work with our painting contractor that was renovating the rest of the dining room. Very good installation service. Made additional repairs to subfloor which had sustained some wear over the years with prior owner/s. Careful and quality work on transition to tile floor on one entrance to room, and carpeted floor on the other. Owner rectified a problem with a mistake in the product as shipped to the worksite, and issued a reasonable price credit to compensate. Did not affect the appearance of the new floor, when all things considered.

Paul Saulnier, the owner was our first contact with the company. He spent the time with us making sure we chose the right product for our situation. We went with Mirage Red Oak prefinished flooring (Paul's recommendation), which after my research I discovered to a top of the line product. The installers were courteous, caring, clean, and professional. They always showed up when they said they would and stayed as long as it took each day to complete the job on schedule. The floors and staircases came out flawless and look beautiful. This company really knows what they are doing. They have been in business for quite some time and have a great reputation in the area. I have heard this from other contractors. They did great work on the staircases one of which had a turn in it. The installer must have a good knowledge of geometry because the fit is perfect. In the basement which has special considerations when installing a wood floor, Paul explained to me the product used as a vapor barrier and as a glue is state of the art. The wood which he recommended is a Mirage engineered hardwood product to withstand any expanding or contracting. This floor is bowling alley beautiful and has added to the value of our home as it looks like an example of craftsman finished furniture. I would highly recommend this company for any of your flooring needs as they do a great job and stand behind their work. You will not be disappointed.

I had originally hired another company to do my floors but they were terrible. I hired Paul to finish the work, and it is perfect! His employee Sil and his son did the work and although it took a little longer than anticipated, the floors are perfect. They hand cut each piece and I could not be happier. Paul was also great with the hours of labor and billing and was more than happy to go above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly.

Did an excellent job on new floor installation. Worked around our schedule. Initially made a mistake on the stair treads but came back the next day and fixed the problem. Project came out great.

I was very pleased with the work Saulnier Wood floors did in installing new wood floors in my home. They took out the existing flooring (wall to wall carpet), installed a (necessary) new subfloor, and installed and finished the hardwood floors we selected. It was an involved project as it turned out, but Paul and his staff were consistently professional, helpful and responsive. I liked the fact that my husband and I were able to view samples in a showroom and talk through several different options for flooring in a relaxed setting with Paul. His significant experience in the field certainly was evident in all of our interactions. I'd certainly recommend Saulnier Floors to others, and would also use them again for future projects (such as future refinishing of our new floors). We couldn't be happier with the finished product.

Paul was awesome! Showed up on-time to put together an estimate, and was thoroughly responsive at all times. He understood exactly what we wanted done, and did it as planned. His bid was the second-lowest, but we felt more comfortable with him than with the lowest bidder. Would absolutely use him again.

Paul and his crew installed hardwood floors throughout the upstairs of our house and on several of our stairs. Paul was great about working me through the wood choice options including staying later at their showroom so that I could get there after my work day. The actual installation took longer than predicted but the crew was great about minimizing the disruption to our lives. We have an old house with uneven floors and walls. They handled the challenge well. My only criticism was that they made a fairly big nick in one of the door frames where the floor meets it.

When he was preparing the quote, Paul said he'd make our 24-year old floors look new - and that's exactly what he did. His team was professional and the cost for re-finishing about 1,000 sq ft was reasonable. We're very pleased with the results.

Very professional and thoroughly understood the many options when sanding and finishing floors. Advised me of the pros and cons so I could make an educated decision.

I live in a condo in Charlestown. A neighbor was having floors installed by Saulnier Wood Floors. I saw the floor being installed and liked the professionalism and friendliness of the men installing the floor. When I called Paul Saulnier, he promptly responded. When he came to give me an estimate, he brought samples, and ordered additional samples for me. He knows his business and I trusted his recommendations for my particular floor. At the time I was having my bathroom remodeled. Paul scheduled my flooring install at a time that was convenient for me and for my contractor. Carlos, one of Paul's employees, could not have been better. He was prompt, efficient, hardworking, considerate, and flexible. The floor is perfect, and I rarely use that word. I will hire them again in the future when I do further remodeling.

I contacted Paul and made an appointment for an estimate to have 3 floors refinished. All 3 rooms are adjoining and one previously had carpet which was removed. The floors were 3 different colors and I wanted them all the same. Paul arrived when promised, we discussed the 3 rooms and he even suggested I have a coat put on my bathroom floor. He was in and out in 10 minutes and I had the estimate a few days later. The work was scheduled for Monday the 18th of February at 8 a.m. and the workers were at my door at 7:50 a.m. I stayed with a friend for a few days as I have pets that needed to be removed from the house. I returned on Wednesday and while I was pleased with the work there were a few area that I wasn't 100% happy with. I called Paul and left a message on Wednesday. He left a message for me the next day saying he was away on vacation but if I emailed him, he would be happy to look into any issues I had. I emailed him the details but never received a response. I decided not to pursue. Overall I was happy with the quality of the work. The workers cleaned up after themselves and were polite. I would probably use them again but next time I will look at the finished work before they leave.

When we bought our home in 2011, the upstairs was all carpet and the downstairs all original pine hardwoods. We wanted to make it uniform, so we went with Saulnier after consultations. They were a bit more pricey than the rest, but the quality of their work I feel justified the extra cost. People visit and often comment on how amazing the transition was from what looked like unrecoverable original floors to refurbed and rehabbed floors. A lot character was added through this work and we would recommend them to others.

Incredible work. Incredible crew. Paul Saulnier is type of guy who answers his phone on the first ring, listens carefully and gives intelligent advice that solves problems and gets the job done. I was very impressed. Paul is very personable and dealt seamlessly with the many logisticical problems we sent his way. His crew is friendly and experienced. They did a beautiful job. Fantastic transformation. First, all the contractors we contacted through Angie's List were pleasant, professional, and responsive. At the discovery/estimation stage, it looked like we might need a floating floor because of the subflooring installed in the townhouse on the second level. One of the previously scheduled contractors recommended Paul Saulnier, who was next on my list -- what can I say - OCD issues mean lists are in a pre-determined order. Paul was able to fit in a visit within a day or two because of work in the area. He examined the sub-floor in various spots and provided background on what was used and that we could progress with the pre-finished flooring that was top on our list. We were able to schedule the work crew within a few weeks of the estimation. The crew was fantastic -- on-time, professional, neat and responsive -- especially given some issues with the stair treads and adding the base molding. The change is incredible. Upstairs looks fantastic - definitely improved the value of the house and had an immediate impact on our allergies too!

Paul Saulnier came to my house, carefully surveyed the damage, gave me a number of options to address it and then offered an estimate for each option. The workers showed up promptly two days later, began removing the floor boards and cutting the replacements. A week later, I was allowed back into my house (had to leave during refinishing process due to fumes) to see what was nothing short or artist level work completed. The floors looked like they could be part of a museum. Needless to say, I was quite happy with the work.

They had great customer service. I would use them again and have referred them to others.
