They damaged my house so severely I had to get the siding replaced. They refused to refund me payments I made even though they didn’t complete the work and they didn’t reimburse for the cost to repair the severe damage. I’m not the only one this has happened to I have come to find out. NOT To mention the harassment when I tried fo leave a negative review online. I took it down because they put up a derogatory post on the Melrose Facebook community page about me as a customer using my first and last name and linking to my Facebook profile , so I ended up having random weirdos showing up at my house to take pictures and Post them to the public page and other nasty harassment I won’t get into. I’m currently out over $20k and my house still isn’t painted. DoNOT hire this company if you have cedar siding especially. They use angle grinders on the wood and prime the splotchy prep with translucent mad dog and then spray paint SEMI GLOSS to the siding to make sure everyone can see how terrible your house looks. It’s great for property value/ which is another loss I won’t be compensated for. Angie should do a better job of verifying reviews because these 5 stars are definitely hard for me to believe - from personal experience. I have pictures and text messages from Amrou himself to prove it!

They painted the exterior of the house, and sanded/stained the our wooden deck. They also performed minor carpentry for rotting exterior wood around several windows. My wife and I could not be happier with the quality of the work. Throughout the project the office staff (Roxanne) kept us apprised as to when the crew would be at the house, and the owner (Amrou) was on-site pretty much on a daily basis supervising the work. The attention to detail was incredible. I didn't think our house could look this good.

Awesome service. Showed up early to that job. Everything was completed on time. Was one of a very few painters to actually respond to my requests. Very professional. I wold hire in a heartbeat again.

Since this was a big project we needed someone with old house experience that could consult about detailed and specific areas. I understand old houses, but had very limited experience with contractors. Amrou is an excellent help. He sat down with us on more than one occasion and answered all our questions, walking us thru the timeline and helping us understand the costs involved for each piece of the project. His experience comes in handy when faced with the unexpected surprises that old houses bring. Also the head carpenter John was great, detail oriented and inspired by good workmanship. The painting crew was mostly young and I would recommend giving them a bit of guidance. Amrou did make himself available to come to the site and inspect and point out to the crew work areas that were missed or incorrect. The carpentry and paint crews behaved professionally, and they were great about cleaning up each day!

The owner Amrou met with me at my house to discuss the job and his company. The meeting went well . Amrou was very professional ,knowledgeable and a man of his word.The whole experience went as he said and the job was done in 5 days. My house looks spectular and there was no mess left in my yard. I am a very satisfied customer.

From description of this company: ATE Painting specialize in old and historic homes. From Amrou: 1. we done 60% of home in Melrose; 2. When the work is done, you can put it on magazine (please see the pictures attached to see if it can be put on magazine). All above are bragging, not mentioned lying. Most of previous review mentions Amrou is knowledgeable, that is true. Amrou calls himself consultant; and typically, the consultant's job is to make sure to get client's contract; not necessary to make sure to do the job right. i had the feeling that Amrou himself is good, but he did not do the work, i did not live at the home at the time, and problem comes from there. I am going to review in details. The company contact: the company phone listed on the truck is unreachable, i called there many times, nobody answers, that is unprofessional. The painting /drywall work: please see attached pictures for details. In overall, the painting looks OK. But i had 3 estimates from 3 contractors: ATE is the most expensive one; i selected this company with the high expectation: you get what you pay for; but i did not get what i pay for. The painters washed their brushes in my new sinks: there is paint left over there so that i had to clean them; The painters took the shortcuts so i have to remind them to do it right; but i did not stay at home all the time, so how many shortcuts did i miss? i do not know. Professionalism: This is review for Amrou himself. There is a big gap between what he said, and what has been done, both during process and final product. Amrou did NOT watch his crew work, did NOT bother to check the quality of his crew (they are all young by the way). He did ask me to check the work and if i missed any, he can get away with it: that is absolutely unprofessional: instead of providing the highest quality he can do, he is betting on the standard of the homeowner, if the homeowner is easy, he can do less work therefore more profit to him. In fact after he asked me to check (walkthough time he calls), i pointed a lot of things NOT been done, plus some low quality work; those can be easily detected by Amrou if he did bother to look. How disappointed i am. The window work: i paid $1800 to install new simple window plus trim work; Again, i know it is expensive but i was willing to pay that price with expectation that the work is done correctly. By the way this is done by his sub-contractor: the work inside done is beautiful, we love it; but the outdoor side of the window is totally wrong: there is no aluminum cover the bare wood;and the bare wood itself looks very BAD; i guarantee that the outdoor side can not survive this winter. How could the same carpenter can do opposite things at the same time: indoor work done correctly and outdoor work wrong? My bet is he told his sub-contractor to do inside work only so that he does not have to pay much. I did not supervise the outdoor work because i had to leave the house to visit my new-born son in hospital. The only work was done good is staining the stairs, that work done by Amrou himself. But i have to pay extra $450 more to original estimate to make it looks good; some might say that is price i have to pay but i am not professional; i do not know how many coats of stain needs to be done to make it look good. When i had accepted the original estimate, i want it looks good without paying more, but in the end i have to pay more. My message to homeowner and soon-to-be homeowner: If you need any reference, please send me E-mail at nghiavho@gmail.com; i had hired electrician, painter, floor contractor, and Mitsubishi miti-split contractor. I had some experience how to communicate with contractor. I have learn a lot of lessons. Also, i will push Angie's list to have a homeowner forum in which all homeowner and soon-to-be homeowner communicates, asks questions, like on Amazon.com; The review itself is very passive, it does not help much. My final message to fellow homeowner: never trust your contractor, put aside all other work if you can, and spend any your time left to check on the work of your contractor. That will save you a lot of trouble later

Amrou proved to be very knowledgeable regarding how to fix the problem of our poorly painted decks. It had been less than a year since they had been painted improperly, and we were apprehensive. He immediately put us at ease, giving us a variety of options that would meet with our needs, as well as fix the problem. His ideas about a specific kind of paint/sanding that would hold up over time, were right on target and helpful in terms of making a decision. The paint, and the job Amrou and his team performed, is flawless, and it is clear that it will withstand time and weather. Amrou communicated with us at all times, and, he and his team were always professional and on time. In fact, he went above and beyond the contract to make sure we were satisfied. When the paint chip didn't correctly match the actual color once it was painted on, Amrou contacted the manufacturer immediately (the manufacturer acknowledged it was their mistake), and negotiated with them to replace the paint for a different color, at their cost. They did, and the resulting color came out perfectly. In short, Amrou willingly, and with no extra cost to us, painted the decks twice, because a chip didn't match! To us, this is truly top quality service, and well beyond what we have received in the past. Every time I drive up to the house, I am happy with how the decks look. Amrou and his team at ATE Painting Company receive our highest rating, and thanks.

After surveying several contractors we decided to go with ATE for our painting and carpentry needs. The carpentry job required a fair amount of work on the exterior of a sunroom, which was surrounded by glass. Many other contractors were not too comfortable with this work. ATE didn't have any issue with it. They also provided several options for the painting portion of the job and quoted out the different options. The quote obtained was not the cheapest overall, but I trusted the quality and it was reasonable. They provided addresses for us to visit with these types of paint jobs to enable a very clear perception of what the job would end up looking like.?They performed a VERY comprehensive assessment during our initial consult and took detailed notes. The subsequent quotation spelled everything out clearly and was provided as an accurate quote of what the work will cost, and not a variable estimate (stated verbally).? It was really easy to communicate with ATE, via phone or email, with rapid responses. There were several aspects of the painting portion of the job, which we were able to sort out easily due to the ready communication.?It was important for them that we were happy with the work during the final walk-through and there was some minor things that we had to adjust, which they did.?The job turned out very nice overall and I am very happy with it.

All the work went very smoothly and promptly. The workers were very tidy and careful. I used ATE to paint our house last year and we were very pleased. I would use them again.

Anrou's is thorough, sets high standards for his crew and.job prep. This is a new contractor for us and as with anything, time will tell how long the paint lasts before needing a redo. The crew was quiet, arrived on time, worked diligently and checked up after completion for the short punch list which they completed in a few days.

The owner needs to be more hands-on with his workers, who took shortcuts. I repeated several things I needed done more than once to him, but he wasn't always there to follow through with them. I was disappointed with him, because he came off as very professional and in fact was one of the painters recommended to me by the colorist at Benjamin Moore. He probably has too many things going on. I got pretty aggravated at the end, although everything was ultimately done.

Amrou and team are great. Helpful suggestions, clear expectations, great quality work. Amrou was very friendly and professional, and I hope to call on him again for future projects. The team taped up the rooms with plastic sheets to contain dust & fumes to those particular rooms as well.

Awesome! I wish all my interactions with contractors were as satisfying. Amrou and his team were a pleasure to do business with. Throughout the entire process, from the extremely detailed initial quote to the final inspection, Amrou went the extra mile to make sure we were informed, educated, and happy. Amrou is passionate about working with very old homes, takes great pride in his work, and it shows. He made several recommendations throughout the process to improve the look of our Victorian home (changing colors here and there), and we absolutely love the results! We came to realize that we were dealing with true experts when it comes to very old homes. We were also impressed with how quiet, clean, responsive, and professional both the paint and carpentry crews were. We would not hesitate to recommend ATE!

I have never been so excited to provide a review for a contractor. Amrou and his team are fantastic. The experience from top to bottom has been seamless and super-professional. Restoring our house to cedar-shingle siding was a dream of ours since we bought the house 14 years ago, and Amrou was the only painter who seemed as excited/positive about it as we were--or who had the skills to pull it off. It's a great feeling when you are a working family making such a huge investment in your home. We got in touch with Amrou back in July when we were planning to paint our 3-story (then)asbestos-shingled house. He was one of the only painters who spent the time reviewing the project with us in person, and he seemed to have a much better understanding of what our old house needed in terms of repairing trim/replacing busted shingles. As part of that discussion, we mentioned that were looking into hiring a licensed abatement company to remove the asbestos; the previous owner had one story on one side removed and there were great cedar shingles underneath. We thought this was likely the case for the rest of the house, and Amrou talked us through the best and worst case scenarios (and helped us figure out the financial implications). Feeling confident we had the right guy, we decided to go ahead and make the leap. Once the asbestos siding was off, we were horrified to find two largish bare areas (no siding whatsoever) during some very wet weather. We asked Amrou to come take a look; he did the very next day and offered to have his carpenter come that weekend to fill in the shingles (about four bundles of material with some window framing and other tricky carpentry) for $1,950 (of the project total you see above). We were thrilled to get that area taken care of right away-- a full month before the official start time. The A.T.E. Painting contract was clear and includes a 3-year warranty. Amrou provided proof of insurance and licensing without being asked. You don't pay a deposit until work starts, which is reassuring. Jose and the rest of the team showed up as scheduled and worked very long days until the job was complete.They were thorough, pleasant, quiet (as possible anyway) and professional. There was a lot of debris and mess left after the asbestos was removed (strapping, staples, pieces of tar paper, nail holes), and we really appreciated the care Jose and his men put into cleaning and prepping the siding before it was painted. Along the way, we saw some handyman-type issues we wanted to fix. Amrou was great about stretching our budget and giving us clear pricing so we could decide which we wanted to add on to our job (we decided on quite a few, including replacing glass panes in four windows, adding molding to fill a gap in the front porch, adding molding at the roofline to fix a gap near the fascia boards, and some other carpentry fixes). The result is a beautiful new old house. Please have Amrou share our address. There are a couple tiny touch-ups needed, but I'm confident they'll be done ASAP.

As mentioned above, it just could not have gone better. It is amazing to me what this crew, who work so well together, was able to accomplish in one day. I must admit that, at first, I was a little skeptical, since other estimates were for anywhere from 2 to 4 days to complete (which would have been so disruptive) But when you have a seasoned crew who work in sync, things really do go quickly. Our entire living area was completely transformed --living room, dining room, halls, foyer--and the work was meticulous. They addressed areas that we had pointed out as well as areas that we really had not noticed. Clean up afterwards was unlike any other professional who has worked in our home.

Amrou the owner is great at setting expectations and that starts with the estimate. He takes time to explain the process and what drives the costs and works with you to make sure that there are no surprises at any point in the job. The work started on time and completed in a reasonable amount of time (the weather didn't always cooperate). Amour's crew is both professional and highly skilled. They were quiet (as possible), polite and very diligent. The results were amazing every step of the way. They stripped my large house in two working days. They were able to prime and paint two coats over another 2 working days and did all the finish work on the final day. Amir did a walk through and accommodated some small requests prior to completing the work. The result is amazing. Feel free to call him and ask for the address to see. The price was not the lowest bid I received, but I got exactly the results I paid for. I am very happy with how my house looks today. I am also happy that if I have any problems in the next few years, Amrou has promised to send someone to touch up if needed. Couldn't be happier.

Amrou and his team did a very nice job. I wanted the work done by Memorial Day so Amrou found a way to fit me in, even though it was a busy time for him. There were several areas on one wall of my house that were peeling that needed to be touched up and window sills that needed to be replaced. Amrou did a full inspection of the outside and pointed out additional areas that we should consider having done as well. We asked him to do some but not all of those areas. After the work was performed there were a couple of areas that I was not satisfied with and emailed the office about. Amrou came out the next day, apologized, and fixed them up. I'm very happy with the work now. I've used Amrou several times now for painting and minor repairs on the house. I am very satisfied with his work, his pricing and his customer service. I highly recommend him.

On time Clean and neat respectful of my time and schedule reviewed all aspects of work I expected completed all work beyond my expectations commented on a few areas of concern or other options to help remedy a problem in the most cost effective way

Armour and his team were incredibly responsive. The job was completed on time and started on time- given the rainy spring. He managed expectations and the job progressed. The owner was on site often checking on things. There was a problem with the front rail peeling. They came back and fixed it on the next sunny day.

Amrou was excellent to work with. His crew did a great job...they treated my house like it was theirs. The work was done quite well and they were detail oriented. Pros: excellent job painting, good carpentry, responds quickly to phone call or text, good job w/ gutters, kept a clean site. Cons: none really. Only one hiccup...he started on a Tuesday but went to another project for the remainder of the week. Showed back up the following Tuesday and worked straight through till the project was done. Overall: I would definitely use A.T.E. again...they were pros and they fully respected my views. I always felt that I was being listened to.

Great work by people who know very very well how to prep the house, wash, and paint a 100 yr old house with care. As a long time homeowner I have learned that with any painting job, the preparation of the wood or walls and trim is key to excellent outcome. Amrou, the owner, made it very clear in our initial walk around the house that he knows how to do the preparation of the clapboard and trim and that he is deeply knowledgeable of working on historical homes to produce a beautiful paint job. Other painters I interviewed were not as thorough in their assessment of what was needed for this job. Amrou also was very thorough in making sure the paint colors were correct. The lead painter Jo and his team were experienced painters. Jo was always open to my requests and comments. The painters were able to replace broken clapboard with ease. We are very satisfied with A.T.E. Painting and are enjoying our clean and newly painted house. This house is not easy to work on as the terrain is sloping and sits partially on ledge rock and parts of the house are nearly 3 stories high,

Amrou was great to work with. His team was considerate of us and the house. I work in restoration and I approved of their approach with existing paint removal and recoating. They were comfortable having me check in from time to time and updated me with photos when I was not home. They worked with me to find the best solution when they found our rotted dormer shingles. Amrou was honest and said he appreciated the feedback on the areas we noted that needed more work. He showed up with a team of painters after 6PM to make sure that the job got done that day. We may call them again in future as they do windows as well.

They did a fabulous job and were very good. They worked long days and they worked very hard and meticulously. They did a beautiful job and they did it very professionally. They cleaned up after themselves beautifully.

ATE Painting Co painted the exterior of my house and garage. The owner (Amrou) and his team of painters were excellent. I have dealt with lots of contractors in the past and by far ATE was the best experience. Upon our first meeting with Amrou for the consultation it was apparent that he was more professional than any other painting company we had previously interviewed. He came prepared with all license requirements, certificate of insurance and environmental certificates. He quoted a time and price and never wavered from it. His team was respectful and at the end of the day they cleaned up everything. I was so impressed by Amrou and his team and now hold this as a standard for all contractors. I have absolutely no hesitation in my recommendation of ATE Painting Co. and would be happy to let potential customers look at my house.
