D & D Masonry & Chimney

The gentleman (Branden?)who came was so respectful and professional. He was informative and patient with my questions. His work was thorough. I would definitely use them again.

The technician was fabulous right from the beginning. Brandon was very knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining everything. He was so well mannered and nice. He is a true credit to their company. I was so impressed with Brandon and I have already called and let the owner know of his fantastic work. If this is the kind of people this company has working for them then I highly recommend them to anyone wanting great customer service.

Hi climbed on the roof and inspected the chimney, and told us that the top portion of the chimney, from the roof line to the top, was not in very good condition and would only last another 5-8 years, however they could rebuild it for $1000 and then it would be fine. We subsequently had other masons inspect the chimney and they determined that the chimney was in good condition and just had a couple of small areas that needed to be repointed.

They did a fantastic job. They made the patio bigger with no extra charge.

D&D called to have our chimney swept, and we said yes if they could also look at our fireplace insert which needs some maintenance. When the tech arrived he didn't have any experience with wood stoves or inserts. It is tough to know how clean the liner is, but I took apart the insert to replace gaskets and the connection from the insert to the liner was not very cleaned so I used a wire brusk to remove the creosote.

They guy was awesome and did a fabulous job. He was on time; he explained everything he was doing. He was very polite and it was just incredible! HE was professional and courteous and I would recommend him to anyone.

Since I had two flues and only one was covered by the Big Deal, the cost wound up higher than advertised on the Deal, but they came when they said they would, maintained excellent contact with me regarding the work done and future work recommended. I would use them again.

1. I received a reminder call the day before. 2. I cautioned him to be careful of my expensive gutter helmets while getting onto the roof. He completely avoided them. 3. He reported to me that he found about 4 inches of compressed soot at the bottom of the pipe connected to the furnace. He said that should have been eliminated in my May check-up by the oil company (who installed and maintains the furnace). My furnace should operate more efficiently now. I have made a note to remind the oil company when they come next May. 4. He was very knowledgeable and gave me verbal and written reports of his findings. 5. He put everything back in place. He was efficient, fast, and clean. 6. I especially appreciated that he wrote in his report that the next recommended service was to be fall of 2016.

The service tech ,Brandon, was exceptional. Very professional and knowledgable. We just moved into this house and have never had a wood stove before. Brandon taught us how to use the wood stove and checked to make sure that everything was working properly. we couldn't have been happier with the service.

I got set up with these guys on a cold-call. They offered the sweep for $150, to which I responded I had it done for $125 last year and if they'd match that then we can do business. They said $130 so I said ok. The sweeper showed up about an hour after scheduled time, no big deal to me. This guy was already covered from head to toe in soot and reached out to shake my hand - not exactly professional. SO he comes in with his shop vac and some poles and brushes. One small drop cloth for the hearth. I go in the other room to do some work while he completes the job. He spent about 20 minutes fussing with the chimney and tells me he is done. So ok, at this point I figure it's all set and I pay the guy to go on his way. I'm late for work so I head out the door. My wife and I get home after work and she runs her hand across the counter - covered in soot. We look at the bottoms of our feet - black. White sofas - covered in soot!! Everything with in 30 feet of the fireplace is covered in soot and the whole house stinks! So I tell my wife I will call tomorrow to complain. We obviously can't wait to clean the house though so we clean from top to bottom that night. For the next week or so I play phone tag with D and D. I get different names, phone numbers, addresses.... After about two weeks I get them to agree to a Stanley Steemer quote to shampoo and deoderize our white sofa and love seat (they turned slightly grey and the smell wouldn't come out - these were VERY expensive Taylor Kings). I thought I was letting them off easy not making a stink about the rugs and floors. So Stanley Steemer comes out promptly to clean the furniture and they're explaining to me that all that was authorized was a shampoo but his feeling is they will still smell with out the deoderizer. So I say go ahead and start while I try to reach D and D - if I can't reach them I'll pay for it. D and D NEVER answers there phone so no surprise I can't reach them. In the end I think Stanley Steemer either charged the deoderizer to them or did it for free but I never had to pay and I never heard from D and D again. In the end, D and D lost money on the deal and my house got thoroughly soiled. I was way way worse off for having them come into my home. I don't even know if he did a good job sweeping the chimney but he did redistribute the soot efficiently. If I didn't know better, there was no filter in his shop vac and he just blasted it all back into the house. Glad they paid Stanley Steemer for some cleaning but couldn't recommend them, ever.

Technician showed up on time. Was pleasant and professional. Had received a call offering discount off normal price, for a "special" price of $139.00 Identified additional work needed on 2 chimneys and recommended chimney flue and caps (for a total of approximately $7000.00).But no pressure to get me to commit. I would use them again.

We explained the problem, one of his guys went up to the top and another did something below, they both saw the same thing and siad this was not done right but we can fix it. And they did. The guys who did the original work had put things in wrong and backwards and when we had other companies come they all gave answers that didn't make sense. They came back in about an hour and fixed the liner problem, vacuumed and started a fire to test it ,waited until they could see everything worked. Plus they checked for co2 and cleaned up everything. Professionals.

They did a follow up call and I thought that was nice to make sure that we were happy with the service and if we wanted anything else done.

Chimney was cleaned. But not as detailed as advertised. They promised certificate of cleaning to show insurance company for lower rates. All I got was yellow paper as receipt of job completion. No certificate as promised.

According to the building inspector the rebuild was up to code.

Got a cold call from this company, and needed our chimney cleaned, so allowed them to do so. Prompt, courteous, professional, charged exactly what the cold call had indicated.

Very effective; they chose to do the job the best way --- from the top down, to be sure they got the flues very clean, and they were extra careful to control all the soot to ensure the house stayed clean.

They installed the chimney without checking the connection tile from the chimney to the stove pipe. Come to find out, the tile was broken and not attached to the chimney. I'm not saying that they broke the tile, but when they tore down the old chimney, they should have inspected the connection. It would have been an easy thing to do and an easy fix. After the chimney was installed, we found that the connection tile was broken and called D&D. They "kindly" offered to fix the situation for over $700. I will NEVER do business with this company again. The fastened the chimney to the house properly, BUT the masonry work does not look good at all. It was a rather sloppy job.

The actual start of the job was delayed almost a couple of months because of their 'being very busy' and the weather was not cooperating.....so it was ultimately done on their time schedule (and Mother Nature's), and not mine. Overall the work seems to be o.k.,to good - they did the job, the chimney looks straight, and from a distance, the stucco appears to be fine. Up close, the stucco doesn't quite match the detail of the original chimney (the original was done by someone who had a more refined artistic technique in the finish 'swirling' of the stucco....but that was back in the 1960's). Their price was fair, given the size of the chimney. The scaffolding did not damage the building or roof. Debris removal could have been a bit more thorough.....they did clean up most of the concrete block pieces and mortar, but since it was scattered throughout the back yard, I'm still finding small pieces. (I've picked up and have brought at least three large 5 gallon buckets to the landfill). In their defense, it was fall, and they would have had to clean under every leaf that had fallen.....Overall workers were friendly and responsive....and they did make an attempt at cleaning off the stairs to the backyard (although I have since had to repaint the wooden steps because they wore the paint down going up and down so much!). I just wish they had been a little more artistic in the finish work and their clean-up a bit more thorough. They also reassured me that the finer cracks in the base of the chimney were only superficial and not structural....they patched with the stucco, and we'll see what happens with time. It's only been six months, but so far, so good. So overall I was happy.....but the work was not as 'fine' as the original.....i.e., the craftsmanship level was just not there.

Their cleanup was not good because I've still got cement spackling my air conditioner outside. That was not good of them. Their price was good because I did get some other bids on it. Their quality of work was good. They were very responsive. They were on time.

When I had the inspection they told the reason they crumbled. One of the reasons was it needed to be graded property away from the house but they do not do that. They were very nice to me. When I had them back to kind of reconsider if I was going to use them again, they honored the quote. He was respectful and nice.

It went well. They showed up on time and were very cleanly.

They came, they cleaned, they left. Very easy and efficient.

Be very leery of contractors that routinely tele-market for dupes....I mean customers.
