Mark was recommended by a friend and brought his crew to introduce us during the proposal and negotiation. We hired based on friend's referral, price, crew and description of how he would contain the lead paint chips because we have two kids under 10 in the home. Day 1: Mark powerwashed the house. He put no tarps down and basically contaminated our property with lead paint chips. Day 2: He brought tarps, but his crew went to Puerto Rico "for a funeral" and never showed back up on our job again. Mark did most of the work himself with some help from a less experienced 'friend" who knew even less about lead paint. None of the windows were vacuumed after scraping/prep work. Neither were the lower front or rear porch roofs. There were nails and lead dust on both roofs and all the windows. We had some discussion around replacing original wood windows and storm windows with vinyl during the job. We decided to have a separate contractor perform this work after the painting. We decided to keep 4 out of 23 wood windows and asked him to paint those. When asked if he would discount the price for the other 19 windows he stated he charges $15 p/window to paint and would take $285 off the contract. He then proceeded to paint shut the 4 windows we decided to keep and had to come back to unstick them. Paint he used was excellent Benjamin Moor Super Spec. Color match was very good. Final Clean up was fair. He didn't paint the doors to the house and wanted $25 extra to paint these. Then he only painted the door itslef and not the trim or fram.. Definitely, seemed like he rushed thru the end of the job and the quality of the work shows this. Again: if you have lead paint and/or young children, beware of this painter!
