+ -1 moreWe had estimates from 2 companies, both close in price. We chose Northstar because they seemed most knowledgeable, passing this information on to us and giving us several choices based on our needs and requests. They took the time to go through the house with an engineer to determine what the best system would be and how best ot install it, explaining in detail what they thought and why. Their quote included several alternatives and their pros and cons. They also addressed 2 other problems we had been dealing with for 2 years and had gotten no real response. The hot water hearter was actually still under warranty and they saved us the cost of a new water heater. The other company came to the house, spent a little time and just sent us a quote without any explanation of their choice. Since the installation, we've experienced a few minor problems with the new unit which they addressed at all hours of the day within hours of our call. We intend to use them for annual servicing also since they have been so responsive to our needs.
Description of Work: We recently converted our heating system from oil to gas and addressed a problem with our water heater.

Description of Work: I contacted Northstar to have them do ductwork for a range hood. The owner or manager (I never got his name) came out to my house, gave me a price which I felt was reasonable, and I agreed to have him do the work. I told him that I would go ahead and install the range hood that week so as to be ready when he came to do the ventilation ductwork. I installed the range hood, cutting the hole to allow for the ventilation ductwork, and then I called Northstar to let him know I was ready. He didn't return my call. I kept calling until I finally got him on the line, not the answering machine. This was a Tuesday morning. He agreed to come out to install the ductwork the following Friday. Friday came, but he didn't show up, nor did anyone else from the company. I called that afternoon and the next day and left messages which were not returned. I called him the following Monday, this morning, November 16, 2009, and asked him why he didn't show on Friday and pointed out that this had caused me considerable inconvenience, especially since I had gone ahead installed the range hood and cut the hole for the vent thinking he was coming to finish the job. He immediately went off on me, shouting "F-you, f-you," over and over again and then hung up on me.
