I bought custom doors for the kitchen and they were to be installed. I ordered the installation and they were to set up. They came to measure for the doors on July 10th or 11th. Gave date for the installation on the 19th. The next day after the set up date I received a call for what hinges and door knobs I wanted. The next day received a call that the installer would not park in the garage. The installer refused to install unless I received a parking permit to park in the city. I then recieved a call that they would need to reschedule and the date was in August. This install had to be completed before July. The doors were unable to be installed. I built and remolded four homes using home depot and felt they did not take any of this into account.

They did a terrific job. Their customer service at the carpet department was unbelievable. I mean, we must have gotten three or four emails a day on this project and they followed everything up with phone calls. It almost became annoying that they were so concerned about doing a good job. We needed to get the carpet in in a hurry and we purchased the seven-day project that they had. They came and they told us that it would take seven days before they came to measure the carpet but then we got a phone call saying that they were going to be coming in two days. And they were here when they said that they were coming. They called us in the morning on the day they installed the carpet and said that they would be here around 3 o'clock and we were out and when we got home, they were sitting on the porch waiting for us. And they came in and installed the carpet within 30 minutes because it was a small room. We were stuck on the price that they gave because we wanted it done in seven days.
Description of Work: We purchased our carpet from Home Depot Incorporated and they also installed it for us.

I attempted to purchase a washer, dryer and microwave oven from the Home Depot in Norwood, MA. The salesperson at the store was very helpful, but that is where the good part of this story ends. In addition to purchasing the items, I also purchased new hoses for the washer and a new vent kit for the dryer. I also purchased installation services for the microwave - per the agreement with Home Depot, I was expected to remove the existing microwave (over the range) and they would install the new microwave. When they ( a subcontractor) arrived to deliver the appliances, they were surprised - and unprepared - to install the microwave. I offered to allow them to use my drill, but I was told that I needed a special kind of drill bit to drill through the upper cabinet to hang the microwave. These were wood cabinets, so I'm not really sure what kind of special drill bit was needed, but I guess it was. The upshot of all of this was it didn't look like the microwave would be installed as the delivery team had no tools to do the work. The leader of the delivery team couldn't care less about the situation, other than to be sure to point out to me that on his paperwork there was no microwave listed (even though he actually brought the microwave) and that the hoses and vent kit was not listed either on the paperwork. He never offered to call the store to work through the issue with the order and what could be done to resolve it. At this point I told him they could keep the microwave. Next came the dryer which he disconnected from the wall and disconnected the vent. He told me that there might be a problem with the vent as well - he never really elaborated. At this point, I called the store and while I was on the phone he decided that he was in a rush and told me that he would not deliver any of the items and left (even though they were unpacked and sitting on the driveway). Highly frustrated, I let him go as I was not interested in completing the transaction at this point. I understand that mistakes can happen, but his attitude and indifference to the situation was unacceptable. In addition, the communication between Home Depot and the contractor was terrible - there was no mention on any of the paperwork he received from Home Depot that the microwave needed to be installed or that hoses and a vent was necessary. After discussing the situation with Home Depot and offering them a chance to resolve the situation by redelivering the next day with a prepared and different contractor, we were unable to work things out as they couldn't deliver the item until several days later. They promised to send me a $50 gift card for my trouble. No idea if that will arrive or not. The good news is that I then called a local appliance dealer that couldn't have been more helpful. The price on the washer and dryer was $130 less (for each) plus the microwave was $40 cheaper. I did need to pay $75 for delivery (Home Depot was free) but I feel much better dealing with a local business that will likely be responsive should an issue arise - in addition I am saving $225 plus tax after all of the trouble.
Description of Work: Attempted to purchase a new washer, dryer, and microwave to replace existing old/broken appliances. Purchased hoses with the washer, a vent kit with the dryer, and installation services for the microwave in addition to the appliances themselves. Delivery was free of charge (including haul away of existing items).

I chose them because of their reputation for good service and their pricing. The workmanship was excellent and the pricing was very modest. They are prompt and communicate very well with you throughout the project. Their workman was very polite and clean in the process of tearing up my kitchen and putting it back together. Their service was better than I expected; there was only one worker and he liked my dog. I had nothing less than an excellent experience.
Description of Work: I used Home Depot to remodel my kitchen. They resurfaced all my cabinetry and replaced the countertops and sink.

We eventually decided not to go with Home Depot in general. Kraftmade cabinets were very nice and the price quoted for our project was very competitive with another company's quote which we eventually went with. But for anyone considering cabinets and a kitchen remodel, Pat really went out of her way to help me and I learned a lot!
Description of Work: We were doing research for a kitchen remodel. Kraftmade Cabinets were one of our choices in terms of cabinets. Pat Spillane worked with me almost 2 hours to help put together a kitchen configuration that we liked. She also was very helpful in suggesting a countertop material.
