I was looking for an ASHI certified inspector, and someone who had an informative web site that would give me an idea what kind of service I might get. I set up a home inspection, by phone, for a home I intended to purchase (a raised ranch 2000 sq. ft.). The inspector, John Ausevich, arrived long before I did, very early. He proceeded to have me sign some paperwork about the agreed upon transaction, very professional, and he got right down to business. He pointed out about twenty things wrong with the outside of the house and garage within the first ten minutes of the inspection. He pointed out specifically structural damage on an old deck, damage to the chimney, issues with the roof, the shingles, and a hazardous electrical wiring setup on the exterior among other things. Although he did not profess any expert knowledge of existing termites or any damage they might have caused, he pointed out to me obvious signs of what appeared to be relatively serious insect related damage in the basement of the home. We did not even look at the upstairs of the home, and I knew mid-way through the inspection, that this was not a home I wanted to buy. Although I was disappointed about the home buying deal going down the tubes, I was happy to know that I hired someone to give me the best inspection of the home, and I got what I paid for. He was on time, diligent and thorough in his approach. He asked if I had questions along the way. As a courtesy, we canceled the inspection at the point he found so much wrong with the house, it was not worth continuing to evaluate the remainder of the home. Why waste his time or mine? I was given a courtesy discount in that regard. I will hire the company for my next home inspection, and I believe you should too. There are a lot of home inspectors out there, but you should seek out someone with all appropriate certifications, well qualified, presents professionally, does the best for you toward your goal of buying a great home, who works well with people, is punctual, and behaves reasonably with clients to be sure they are satisfied. Try Buyer's Edge, you will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Buyer's Edge will perform a home inspection, which is a visual inspection of the home's physical structure and it's systems. Buyers Edge Home Inspectors examine existing homes using professional standards as a measure to accurately report their condition to parties involved in a real estate transaction. Buyers Edge Home Inspectors do not evaluate the home for cost or value, but report objectively in writing the condition of the home’s systems as they appear and operate at the time of the inspection. A detailed home inspection usually takes two to three hours or longer, depending on the home’s age and square footage.
