I have never written a review on the web before, but my experience with Kitchen Tune-up (KTU) South Shore was so outstanding, I feel compelled to share it. KTU South Shore is run by Mike and Janice Dugan along with their son Jesse. The bottom line is that these guys are amazing! They truly care about serving each customer and take pride in providing high quality work. Our kitchen cabinets were cracking and the kitchen needed to be redone. We had never done anything like this and searched on the web for someone to work with. We went to KTU South Shore based on the very positive online reviews. We were sold on the company from our first visit. It was immediately clear that Mike's goal was to help guide us to the choices that were best for us. We chose to re-door the kitchen along with the installation of some new drawers etc. to improve storage. I could not be more pleased with the process or the outcome. The quality of the workmanship is excellent. Mike and his crew started and completed the work on schedule. He checked in each day during the process to see if we had any questions or concerns. In addition, while Mike does not serve as a formal subcontractor (and also does not charge you for that service), he will provide (if you need them) referrals to the other professionals you will need (for appliance installing, tiling, granite fabrication) to get the job done. We used a number of folks he referred us to and have been happy with all of them. Finally, Mike and Janice are knowledgeable about all things kitchen and creative in finding solutions to problems. They are ever available and willing to discuss any aspect of the kitchen renovation whether related to cabinets or not. I am so glad that we found them! .

Mike & Janis were wonderful to deal with. Always accepted my phone calls prior to starting the project and left me with a sense of confidence at all times. Extremely precise in the work and performed all work as if they were working on their own homes. Nothing but perfection. A crew of 5 total. Very respectful of the home and especially our dog.

It went very well and on schedule. Jessie is very good at design, layout and execution and Mike makes sure the process goes as smoothly as possible. They are also good at trouble shooting when something unexpected happens or changing the original plan during the process if they feel it will benefit the final outcome. They also gave suggestions on backsplash options and paint colors. They would straighten up and remove garbage at the end of each day, and vacuumed and cleaned at the completion of the project. They were very prompt at coming back after completing the job to replace a few shelves that were not originally sent by the manufacturer.
Description of Work: They refaced many of the kitchen cabinets, designed new layout and replaced remainder of cabinets, adding pull out drawers and other upgrades. They subcontracted & supervised quartz countertops & new sinks. They also recommended & supervised reliable service people (carpenter, electrician, lumber) and supplied new cabinets handles. They were also available to answer any and all questions prior and during the project.

We had redone our kitchen several years ago with a new backsplash, granite countertops and a custom granite table, but weren't ready to change the cabinets at that time. We loved the layout of our kitchen and the custom-designed woodworking of our cabinets, but they were original to our 1970's home and were now showing their age and wear. We researched putting in new cabinets, but didn't want to risk ruining our countertops and backsplash. Refacing was the perfect solution! The fact that the project would take 3 days vs 6+ weeks was also extremely attractive. After doing some research online, I called Kitchen Tune up- Janice picked up right away! I was impressed with how pleasant and helpful she was. I joked that since the project would only take 3 days, I wondered if it could be done before a family wedding that was coming up in about a month. We were expecting some out of town guests and it would be nice to have the kitchen completed before then. She took a look at the calendar and surprised me by saying that she thought it could be done! We made an appointment to go to the showroom right away. I was again impressed by the extensive samples that they carried in their showroom and a slideshow of their completed projects reassured me that I could have the "same but new" kitchen that I was looking for. My husband had been skeptical about how the cabinets would look, but was also impressed by Mike?s previous work and how good the result would be. I explained to Mike exactly what I wanted and he helped us narrow down the selection to exactly it. He felt that our timeline was aggressive and would be totally dependent on the cabinet manufacturer, but he and Janice were willing to do everything in their power to make it happen (including calling his cabinet maker?s wife to make sure they wouldn?t be on vacation!). Mike and his son Jesse came to our home next to take measurements. Jesse was absolutely wonderful to work with! He and Mike both had some imaginative ideas to make some dead space more useful (new drawers, longer doors, etc),a new cabinet that they would build to replace a desk, as well as great suggestions to make the final product of my decorative molding and valance design possible. Mike then tirelessly pursued the manufacturer to make sure that the materials would be in in the timeframe promised. We were excited when we got the call that the materials were on their way and the project would start on the scheduled date and be completed on our aggressive timeline! I don?t think this would have been possible if Mike had not hounded the company so well! Jesse, Dave and their crew showed up, on time, as scheduled and completed the project as expected. We?re thrilled with our beautiful cherry cabinets and trimmings. I would highly recommend this company for any cabinet project! It was a pleasure dealing and working with them. Thank you Mike & crew!
Description of Work: Refaced cabinets - installed new doors with soft close feature and new drawer fronts (new drawers where needed). Custom built a new cabinet to replace desk. New crown and cap molding and toe kicks. Custom, decorative valance over the sink. New bottom/ floor panels in some cabinets.

We enjoyed working with Mike, Jesse and Janice very much. They spent a lot of time working with us to design the plan for our kitchen and helped guide our decision making based on their experience. Their showroom was very helpful and we visited a couple times to make sure we picked the doors we truly wanted. Once the job started, we experienced a few manufacturing issues which delayed the completion of our project, but the issues were out of their hands. Things happen, especially with a kitchen renovation, and Mike and Jesse were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was the best as it could be. I?m not sure that many other companies would go out of their way like KTU did to make sure we were satisfied. As it says on these reviews more than once, Mike and Jesse were so kind and easy to work with. Jesse?s work is meticulous and he was very responsive to our questions and concerns. I would absolutely recommend KTU to anyone looking to update their kitchen.

Folks from Kitchen Tune Up arrived on time, and worked hard throughout their time in my home. They were careful, clean and responsive to all requests. The quality of the cabinets was excellent and although a couple of the doors which came were not the correct size, this was rectified within two weeks and the correct doors were hung. I used coordinating services (electrician/plumber/tile) which were recommended by Mike as workmen of high quality, and indeed they were. I also used a recommended countertop company which turned out to be a bit pricey, but did pretty good work. I am particularly impressed by Mike Dugan who owns the company and his son Jesse who was the supervisor of all technical aspects of the actual construction. Mike was warm, knowledgeable and responsive to all aspects of the project. Jesse was very skilled in his work. Perhaps the best thing about the project is how little we were inconvenienced by the work done and how the whole thing was completed within two weeks. I couldn't rate this group more highly and I recommend that you visit the showroom in Mike's home and talk with him if you are considering a kitchen tune up.
Description of Work: Resurfaced and replaced my kitchen cabinet doors, installed microwave and slide in drawer, removed compacter and did oversight on whole project.

This was a thoroughly professional and cordial experience. It is clear that they take their work very seriously. Our original cabinets looked terrible. Mike and Jesse made them beautiful! We had them refaced with knotty alder, and we love it! Not only did they do fantastic work, they also made it easy to select the material in their show room. They have many options, and Mike was very helpful with his advice. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up when they were finished. My husband and I would absolutely recommend them.

We had been researching our kitchen remodel for quite some time but we weren't able to find the right person to do the job. We met Mike at the Rhode Island Home Show and found him to be very open and honest. We then met with him at his showroom to discuss and look out various options for our kitchen. His suggestions were very helpful. After we selected a few options for our cabinets and countertop, Mike and his son Jesse came to the house with the samples for us to look at in the kitchen. Once we decided what we wanted, Jesse measured and Mike was able to give us a quote that night. Additionally, we scheduled the dates for the work to be performed...a 3 day project! Mike, Jesse and the crew arrived on day one. They were all very respectful, hard working and cleaned up at the end of each day. They completed the job on schedule and even fixed a few extra things they came across while doing the job. Mike answered any questions we had, explained what they had done each day and made sure we were satisfied with all they had done. Mike also coordinated the purchase of a new countertop (Boston Fabricators) and was able to recommend any subcontractors (plumbing, electrical, etc) as needed. We LOVE our new kitchen! It is the kitchen we thought we might never have! We have gotten numerous compliments on it. We would definitely recommend Kitchen Tune-up to anyone and we would definitely use them again if the occasion arises. They are so easy to work with...we never felt any sales pressure or pressure to do something we weren't sure of! They offer their suggestions based upon their extensive knowledge but were respectful of our thoughts and ideas. A great family run business!
Description of Work: Refaced cabinets including new doors, new soft close drawers, tip out cabinets in front of the sink, built new pantry cabinet with four roll out drawers, put three roll out drawers in exiting closet, crown molding, toe kick and new door/drawer knobs.

Mike was very straight forward and helpful. He immediately let me know that my cabinets were in great shape, and I did not need to hire a professional to clean them. He then gave me very detailed instructions (what to buy, where to buy it, how to apply it) on how to do it myself. I then offered to pay him for coming out to do an estimate since there was no work for him AND he helped me out so enormously. He graciously refused payment. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for kitchen re-surfacing. You don't find very many people like this anymore.

This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor coming into my house to do a repair or renovation. Everything came out exactly as they said it would and the "price was right". They protected the wood floors in my kitchen so nothing would scratch and cleaned up after themselves down to the very last detail. I really needed advice and they were very patient and happy to work out all the details with me. I am delighted with my cabinets and would highly recommend Kitchen Tune Up Southshore.

We could not be happier. They showed up promptly on July 29 and 3 days later I had a completely new kitchen. The crew was great to work with, very efficient, friendly and helpful. We built our house in 1978 when everything was Formica from head to toe. It was brown with cream colored doors. Now I have a beautiful light cherry kitchen. The transformation was astounding and we feel like we have a new home almost, because, when you come into our home, the kitchen is the first room you see. Any questions, even those I thought were probably stupid, Mike the owner, settled down my concerns. Jesse's precision measurements resulted in a very perfect fit for everything. I will, and have, recommended Kitchen Tune Up to anyone who admires my kitchen. We also used their recommended electrician and plumber with great success. They also arranged for a new countertop through Boston Fabricators. It was the perfect ending touch to their work. We chose recycled glass, a composite that resembles quartz, with shades of blues and black glass in a light background. Cannot be happier with the whole experience. Before and after photos are available if desired.
Description of Work: We are scheduled to have complete kitchen refurbished July 29,30,3l. They are great to work with, helpful and full of special treats for my kitchen.

Mike and his son Jesse arrived the first morning as scheduled and got right to work. This job was quoted as a 4 day job to completion and the guys did a great job keeping to the schedule working some extended hours each day to complete the job on time. Another important point to make is that Mike recommended a Granite counter top company (Boston Fabrication), a tile man for the back splash (Lee Elsworth) and a plumber (Eric, Primere Plumbing). All of these individuals were excellent providing very good work and reasonable quotes for their services which were separate and additional to Mike's quote. Jesse was the main man when it came to the bulk of the remodeling work. He was very professional and accomodating through the process and cleaned up well each evening before leaving. Some of the details of what Mike and Jesse provide included the following: Laminate all cabinet boxes, Install new doors and draw fronts to each cabinet, Installed new draw boxes, Construct a new cabinet for over the stove for a micro wave oven, Extend the height to the sealing by adding a sofit and crown molding, Soft close soors and draws, New modern hardware for all doors and draws, create a framed in enclosure for our refridgerator, Box in over our sink for the addition of two lights, Added appliance draws in one cabinet, added pull out draws in another cabinet, installed two tipouts at the kitchen sink, replaced the existing toe kick with a new toe kick to match the cabinet color, installed a light rail below each cabinet for under cabinet lighting to be completed by our electrician. Mike and Jesse also completed the two cabinets in our laundry room in matching color extending up to the ceiling with sofit and crown molding, laminated cabinet boxes and installed new doors and hardware. After we completed the work with Mike we then had to bring in the tile man (2 days) , plumber (1 day) and counter top company (1 day) to complete the job on the backsplash, plumbing hook-ups/dishwasher install/refridgerator icemaker connection. We then completed the light installation and microwave installation with our electrician. The kitchen project took 2 1/2 weeks to complete and looks great with out new stainless steel appliances. We can't Thank Mike and Jesse enough for the work they did on remodeling the kitchen and laundry room cabinets and the recommendations they made to us for the other contractors we needed to complete all of the work. We love our new kitchen. I highly recommend Mike Dugan and Kitchen Tune up South Shore (Norton, Ma.) for your kitchen project.
Description of Work: Mike Dugan came to our house to discuss our kitchen remodeling project; we were interested in cabinet refacing since our existing cabinets were in good condition. Mike was very professional, showed us a various options to consider and made some nice suggestions on improvements to consider. After a couple hours of discussions we confirmed with Mike the options we would like and he told us he would provide us with a quote within the week. Mike provided the quote as promised and we thought the price quoted was fair and we decided to work with Mike and Kitchen Tune-up South Shore.

I met Mike at the Home Show in Boston about three years ago. I interviewed every kitchen person there and chose him. I appreciated his professionalism, honesty, and warm personality. He helped us every step of the way in our kitchen remodel. The cost above includes Mike's work only, we did need to hire a plumber and a tile and countertop person and the ones that Mike recommended were professional, reasonably priced, and did excellent work. The redesign of the kitchen was wonderful. Before, the cabinets abutted the entry way to the kitchen and the doorway was cramped. He angled the cabinets there away from the entry way resulting in a much more open, welcoming entrance. He added a lot of useful features such as a large pantry with pull-out shelves, a large lazy susan in a formerly hard-to-reach low corner cabinet, and three pull-out spice racks. Mike and his son Jessie were a pleasure to work with. They were always prompt and pleasant. They worked hard and accomplished the work within a reasonable time frame. I would recommend them highly for any cabinetry needs you have. They are good people. The best. As an aside, and not reflected in the above price, a year later I called Mike and had him design cabinets for our 1 1/2 baths. Before, there was no storage in either and toiletries and towels were piled around. Now we have so much beautiful cabinet space that everything is hidden away and the bathrooms are always neat.

From the first phone call to Kitchen Tune Up we were. sure we had finally found the right people to do our job. Mike and his son Jesse came to our home to show us samples and give us an approximate price for the work. We were told we could come to the showroom to see more samples if we wished. We went there and found exactly what we wanted. Mike told us to take our time making a decision about exactly wanted to do. There was absolutely no pressure to make a decision right then and there, unlike another company we had out that were very pushy. We were told they would in and out in three days and they were! Each day plastic was hung in the doorways and at the end of the work day the floor was swept and vacuumed. There was no disruption for the rest of the house. Mike and Jesse were a pleasure to do business with. They were very patient and gave us some great advice and helped make some very hard decisions. If you are thinking about having your cabinets refaced I highly recommend Kitchen Tune Up. Since the original work was done we have had to purchase new appliances and needed some adjustments made. We called Mike and he and Jesse came out in short order and will be coming soon to take care of everything.

I just want to start off by saying this company really has the customer in mind ? from the beginning, before I even scheduled a consultation appointment, Janice was emailing with me about their products, asking me questions to think about what I really wanted in my kitchen. They exceeded my expectations! The kitchen was going to be a big investment for us, and I wanted to be thoughtful and careful with my decisions. I decided to have a unique and creative look, and a bit untraditional. I scheduled a time for Mike to come to my house for an initial consult. He met me on an evening after work, was on-time, professional, with an easy-going nature to him (not pushy or pressure salesman type). He told me all about the work they do & what they had to offer ? and believe me, there was no shortage of samples. He spent an enormous amount of time with me ? I would estimate at least 2+ hours! It was fabulous. I was especially happy to hear that he could offer creative options to maximize the space we had in our smaller-type kitchen. Other companies I interviewed did not have the same options with materials, choices or flexibility with maximizing the small space we had. Shortly after the initial consult, my husband and I visited Mike?s showroom. He was very patient with us ? my husband and I have different tastes and styles, but Mike spent the time with us and showed us everything he had --- we left the showroom fully informed with lots to think about. After much thought, I sent an email to Mike letting him know we chose his company. We scheduled a measuring appointment within a couple of weeks, and at a time convenient for me after work. I am not kidding when I say that Mike and Jesse were at my home from about 6:20 - 9:30 p.m. They were very courteous and respectful of my time by calling when they were on their way over, letting me know their estimated time of arrival. Mike and Jesse had great ideas how to maximize our space. We kept the layout the same, however boxed-in the fridge, bringing the cabinets above the fridge out so I could finally use them (!!), added cabinetry and utility drawers next to the fridge (even a coffee station!)? and switching out our old-fashioned bi-fold door closet for a matching cabinetry look and bringing those shelves out so I would have more storage space. While Jesse drew up the plans, Mike crunched the numbers and gave me a quote that very night. The project would be a bit over our budget, but Mike understood that and worked with us on certain features making sure I was comfortable with the amount we were spending. When they promised they would do something, they held true to their word. At the time of installation, they were on prompt, professional and cleaned up after each day. I was able to go to work each day, without a worry ? I felt very comfortable with them in my home. It so happens with my order, the doors came in patterned incorrectly (the pattern was supposed to be horizontal), and Mike called me immediately to explain, putting my mind at ease ? in fact he didn?t even reschedule me, and instead told me that they would still put my kitchen together so I would have a finished product, and they would come back as soon as possible with the correct doors. No time was wasted. Wow, I am not kidding when I say that they were fast with the corrected doors. The company they deal with really made a fast turn-around for me. I am so grateful. It was not one week later that Mike and Janice kindly fit me into their busy schedule to make sure I was taken care of. Not only were they prompt with scheduling me in, but they also gave me, at no cost, a set of new drawers for my trouble. I am awaiting that order to come in, but I am confident that when it does, I will be very happy. I have to say that this company really stands behind their work ? they are not only the nicest people I have ever hired, but they also want to make the customer happy ? they really listen to what you want, and they really care about the finished product. It was such peace of mind with them at the helm - they really made the project go seamlessly without any worry or stress. They were VERY GENEROUS with everything they did. The whole kitchen has such a great modern feel, and the special crown molding takes my breath away! What talent they have! My kitchen was worth absolutely every penny! I have a gorgeous new functional kitchen that I love ? a welcome change from my drab old fashioned looking kitchen! I would recommend them to anyone looking for excellent customer care, great ideas, and a fabulous finished product. Thank you so much Mike, Janice, Jesse and Dave!

The work has been excellent. They have an excellent carpenter. Mike and his son are excellent as well. They have been great to work with. The quality of work has been great. We felt the price was fair for the quality they gave us. The work has exceeded our expectations. I would recommend them to anyone who is considering re-doing their kitchen.
Description of Work: They put in a whole new kitchen with cabinets. Some of the cabinets were refaced to minimize waste and use what we had. They were very helpful with that. They also redesigned the cabinets. When installing the refrigerator, it did not fit properly. They are coming back at no cost to complete some adjustments.

Top notch quality. Great price. Customer service far above and beyond. No wonder at all that KitchenTuneup has continued to be an Angie's top award winner.
Description of Work: We LOVE our new clean white kitchen cabinet doors, shiny new handles, smooth sliding drawers, countertop, lazy susan cabinet, corner shelves, pullout trash bin. We would use Allen and Jane's KitchenTuneup services again in a heartbeat - we already have the sketch and quote for phase 2 set to go whenever we say we're ready. Coordination and communications was a breeze. They brought samples to us and were incredibly patient as we worked through various designs, materials, pricing options, etc. We never felt rushed or pressured by a hard sell. While they may not bill themselves as official designers, per se, they were incredibly helpful as we narrowed down countertop materials, colors especially; steering us away from selections they felt wouldn't work for our small cottage house kitchen. Our quirky old kitchen had some challenging sizing issues and Allen and Jane went above and beyond to solve our sink challenge - when our work schedules couldn't jive with the new sink delivery and plumbing appointment time, they sent us off to work and stayed with the plumber for what ended up being a good six -hour plumbing job. When we removed our old dishwasher, we realized that we'd need to do some unexpected wall repair before any cabinet work could happen. Jane and Allen to the rescue to ensure the project stayed on schedule. They advised us on wall materials and had their guys take care of the added work as part of the overall job. When I commented on how much I hated the cutesy curved wooden valance over the kithcen window, Allen said they could take care of that too.

A+ Top notch service and overall experience. It?s been a real pleasure to work with Mike Dugan and his team. From the first visit through to the finishing touches, they provided outstanding service with a smile and a fabulous result for a reasonable price. I am SO happy we decided to go with KTU South Shore. This project was a big deal for us and I was nervous about choosing someone I?d later regret hiring. If you?re serious enough about your own project to be reading Angie?s List reviews, you?ve probably given some thought to all the glitches (major and minor) that you might encounter on the road to kitchen fabulosity. I am happy and a little surprised to say that we encountered none of this. It?s one thing to have your ?expectations? exceeded; our experience with Mike & his team exceeded our hopes! (My expectations and hopes weren?t exactly low after reading so many enthusiastic reviews, either.) Seriously: my ?best case scenario? was blown away. I wholeheartedly agree with many of the positive comments that other reviewers have posted, and I?ll try not to be too repetitive. (BTW ? only truly satisfied customers would take the time to write such detailed reviews.) Mike Dugan/KTU is a total rock star because: · No pressure! You will not be sold something that you don?t want to buy; you will not be pressured to exceed your budget; you will not be rushed into making decisions. · He takes the time YOU need to come up with a plan. In home consultations and brainstorming sessions spanned several hours. Mike & Jesse listened to our ideas and our doubts, they helped us think through all the options, they worked with us until we were satisfied that we had come up with the best plan for our taste, our budget, and our home. · On the spot estimates. Once we had decided on the type of door we were going to use, Mike was able to give us a detailed breakdown of what our redooring project would cost before leaving our house. And that?s the price. How straightforward is that? · Great design ideas. We had some very basic ideas and a budget. Knowing that we had some serious shortcomings as kitchen designers, we were open to new ideas and suggestions. Mike provided some really great ideas that were incorporated into the final product and help make our kitchen cooler than we ever imagined. (Note that his ideas were within budget, NOT ?hey these doors would look amazing in your space but they cost twice as much?..?) · He turned my ?oh I LOVE those cabinets, but they?re too modern/European for our space? into an actual element in our kitchen! AND my husband &I both agree that we LOVE the result! When we visited Mike?s showroom to confirm our final door selection, I saw a couple of super stylish cabinets that he had set up for another client. I couldn?t take my eyes off of them. They had a textured, modern look that really appealed to me. My husband liked them too, but dismissed them as too taste-specific (concerned about possible sale of house in the future). Besides, we had the design all worked out and NOW you want to totally change it? No way. I let Mike know how much I LOVED the look of the cabinets, but alas, realistically we would not be making any ?risky? changes. Well, Mike was listening. And he was thinking. The next time he came over to show us how our door panel selection would look in our actual kitchen, he brought a sample of the panel style I had liked so much at the showroom. Mike?s idea was to reface the island in a color of that door that coordinated with the glaze we had chosen for the more traditional white panel we initially planned on using for everything. GENIUS! (The two styles seem very different but they work together brilliantly, so, yes, GENIUS) AND my husband and I both agreed (that never happens) without any further ?negotiation? or convincing. Mike is the KITCHEN-WHISPERER! · KTU?s huge selection of designs across a range of price points makes it possible for this to happen while staying in budget. · Mike is a straightforward professional who respects your budget and whatever other constraints you need to work within. If the exotic hardwood isn?t in your budget, Mike won?t try to ?tempt? you with it. · Quality materials & workmanship. · Terrific value for your money. · He?s a good guitar player too, which rounds out the kitchen rock star package! (Note that price above is what we spent for the KTU cabinetry work. If you're budget-conscious, be aware that it's easy for the costs of other elements of your project to add up.) For our project, we used the electrician, tile person, countertop provider and floor refinishers recommended by Mike. They were all very professional and provided high quality services and products at reasonable prices. I'll post before & after pictures if I can. Our new kitchen is awesome!
Description of Work: Mike Dugan and his team COMPLETELY changed the look of our dated and unattractive 1980’s kitchen. This was mainly a redooring/refacing project. Some custom cabinetry added to accommodate reconfiguration of appliances; added large drawers to island. They also refaced a small bathroom vanity cabinet for us. KTU also coordinated electrician, countertop, and flooring services.

The project went very well overall. Mike, Janice and Jesse Dugan were very nice people to work with. The electricians and any other helping hands were all very professional. They were courteous and everyone cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. In the beginning Mike & Jesse came to my house with samples and suggestions and gave me an estimate. They have a showroom in Norton, so I made an appointment to go look at more samples of cabinet finishes and pictures of completed kitchens. Next all doors to cabinets were taken off. Then new resurfacing material covered existing boxes. New cabinets added above old ones along with new molding. Electricians came in to add lighting behind glass doors and install recessed lights. Everything was put back together and they cleaned up the entire kitchen. They did come back a few weeks later to install kitchen hardware to cabinets and drawers
Description of Work: The old kitchen cabinets were a pickled maple. The color is now antique satin with pewter glaze. All of old cabinet doors were removed and replaced with new doors. New cabinets were added above existing ones. The new cabinets had glass doors with lighting installed behind glass dooers. Crown molding added on top of all cabinets. A new lazy susan replaced the old one. Some (approx. 10) apothecary drawers were added underneath two existing cabinets. Two spice cabinets replaced decorative shelves that were attached to cabinets above kitchen sink. Two compartments for sponges added to the front of sink. A pull-out drawer was added to inside of cabinet underneath sink. Two file drawers were created. Track lighting removed and replaced with small recessed lights.

Response from Kitchen Tune Up Southeast Mass & Rhode Island
Thank you for the very kind words about our service. To clarify for Angie's List subscribers, the reason we put the handles on at a later date was because the client ordered custom hardware on her own and it came in late. We installed it the day after it arrived. Mike

We used a team of workers Mike had recommended to do electrical, tile, and plumbing services. They were all great. We highly recommend the Dugans to do any kitchen (refacing or new). Our kitchen looks beautiful. You would never know our old cabinets have been refaced. They are the best, excellent workmanship.
Description of Work: While attending a home show we met a representative from Kitchen Tune Up. She told us about Mike Dugan of Norton Mass. We contacted Mike and made an appointment to go to his show room. The minute we met Mike we knew he was the one to do our kitchen. We picked out the doors and door fronts (an beautiful artisian rose wood cherry) and the counter tops. Mike and Jesse arrived on time, to take the measurements. They gave us detailed steps to finish our kitchen and made important suggestions to improve our kitchen. When the work began, Jesse and his crew arrived on time and worked hard each day. They were courteous, professional and knowledgeable. They were trustworthy and we felt we could leave for several hours without worrying. They finished in three days with very little disruption to our household. The cost of refacing was exactly as quoted.

Our kitchen was in need of a major update. We built the house in 1994, and my kitchen had seen a variety of "what was I thinking" moments - starting with teal countertop and lavendar and teal southwestern motiff wallpaper - that was supposed to look like faux finish paint. The linoleum floors lived through 2 dogs, 3 cats and two sons, and had also seen much better days. And it was hard to believe I could not wait to say good bye to the oak cabinets and teal countertop that I was so excited to have back in 1994 - the doors were falling apart and the finish was badly worn. We decided to have the cabinets refaced rather than totally replaced - I don't think it saved us any money, but it did save us the additonal mess of tearing them out, and the time it would take to totally replace them. We tried to get pricing from one of the big box stores (HD) but after they sent two reps to the house, wasted hours of our time, we still couldn't get pricing for everything we wanted to do we decided to move on. I found KTU on Angies list and after talking to Mike and then going to the showroom we decided to go with them. There was a much larger selection to choose from and we like the fact KTU was family owned and operated and local. I selected White MDF with a pewter glaze for the kitchen cabinets and black MDF for the new bar height island that replaced our kitchen table and chairs. We added a new "hutch" style cabinet and boxed in the refrigerator by changing the upper and lower cabinets to another pantry. Jesse and Mike were very helpful and listened to my ideas, making my "vision" come to life. Very happy with how it all turned out! We did hit a few bumps along the way, and Mike was very responsive and went out of his way to make things right. We are very happy with our new Kitchen!!
Description of Work: We had our Cabinest Refaced - New doors and hinges New end panels Crown molding Added a "hutch" style cabinet Added an island (84" by 55" bar height) to replace our kitchen table and chairs Boxed in the refridgerator with a new Pantry Added a few drawers and pull outs New Countertop (done by another vendor)
