Description of Work: Good presentation. Good quality. Spent 3-hours. Too much pressure to make a decision quickly. If we had other presentations first we would have benefited from the discount. We don't make on the spot decisions.

Description of Work: They installed 7 windows (with screens and one a double "French" window sliding) and an entry door. It went very well, from the agent I originally consulted with and though the guys who did the actual installation. Their work is not cheap, but well worth it, given the quality and service. I recommend them without hesitation.

Description of Work: We had 3 windows and a screen door replaced. The windows and door are of good quality, but the installation process went very badly. As the installation crew was installing the screen door, I realized it was not what I had ordered. (They apparently did not have a process to verify that the correct items had been ordered.) It was winter, but once I pointed out that it was not the right door, they did not finish the door installation, leaving the door with major drafts and no outside handle, and left without finishing the details of the window installation either. The problem with the door could not be fixed right away because the correct door needed to be ordered. Three or four weeks later, I was given an appointment to install the proper screen door and finish the window installation. However, on the morning of the appointment, I was notified that they had sent the crew to finish a different installation unfinished from the previous working day, giving priority to that job over my installation that had been unfinished for a month. They did finish the installation several days later. Overall the customer service was very disappointing.

Description of Work: Replaced 6 windows and had to do carpentry work for rotted wood.

Description of Work: excellent service, and window people who came to install were wonderful, the windows were custom and expensive but well worth it, they face to lake and cheaper windows were not an option

Description of Work: Window replacement for my 1,350 square foot ranch. The sales person was very high pressure to get a sale that day. Frankly he wore me down and I had regrets about the price I paid. The installation was mixed...one guy really took his time and was a craftsman but another did less than stellar work. The windows themselves are spectacular so if you don't mind paying top dollar you will get a great product.

Description of Work: In the living room I replaced an 11 foot wide x 5 foot tall window for around $14,000.00 and then 4 windows for $5,741.00. |They come and measure the windows. They asked for 1/3 of the payment and I signed a contract where you have 3 days to cancel the order; I believe without a penalty as required by law. |Then they call and give you a date for installation. Their men come in and do all the work. |If someone is lucky enough to get SCOTT, you are in good hands. The work was done in Oct (can't remember exact date) and then the 4 small windows on Nov 4, 2013. |He and his men were very good. I did have a couple of small things that needed to be addressed along the way which were handled by Scott. |"Andersen" was timely in responding to another issue after the installers left. |I went with them because of their quality of window. Description of Work: Replaced 5 five windows of which one include some minor construction. Renewal windows are quite expensive compared to other offers out there, but the service, window quality and overall professionalism is very high.

Description of Work: 15 Anderson replacement windows in the 4 bedroom house. 3 picture windows, 7 oversized double hung windows, 4 double hung, 1 small window. They were awesome. It was freezing outside so I had to shut the heat. They minimized the amount of time spent with removal and replacing each window. there were drop cloths everywhere. They vacuumed after each day (3 days), and came back in a timely manner to replace a screen that was slightly damaged on installation.

Description of Work: "I had all the windows in my house replaced with Anderson. I feel that I paid way too much for what i got. the salesman was very effective, convinced me that all the work was done here in America, local tradespeople and professionals. If I did not sign an agreement at the time of his visit, the deal that he was giving me would no longer be available and it could cost $3,000.00 more. |To begin with the crew showed up and no one except for the forewoman spoke english. the whole crew was Russian and from Pennsylvania. It was difficult at time to communicate because the foreman was not there all the time. I wanted to know if there was adequate insulation or any rot before they continued. |The job was completed but there were a few unresolved issues. The initial response was quick and an associate came to the house and listened to what I had to say, agreeing that I had justified complaints, they were as follows: |Two of the rooms, the inside windows were heavily marked and the paint chipped. The window sills were damaged. The crew did not clean up efficently leaving paint chips on the deck and back yard. From the initial complaint, it took about six weeks to finally have some resolution, not complete but enough for me not to want to deal with them anymore. |I don't think that the windows have made all that much of a difference and feel that I could have got the same quality for half the price. Their indifference cost them other work that I would have had done. A front door and side patio door. |I would not recommend them I think they are way over rated and take advantage of people, especially the elderly, that's my opinion."

Description of Work: Overpriced and the sales person didn't bother to bring in a demo of the window. Seemed unprepared and not interested in trying to sell us windows, wanted to know if they were worth the expense but never got a quote, waste of my time.

Description of Work: We were beginning our process of finding windows to replace the 50 year old windows in out home. I saw the adverstisement in the paper "buy one get one 40% off". I called and a salesman came out that day. He spent over two hours explaining the product, etc. It seemed like a good product buy very expensive. We really wanted time to think about it as we just started looking, but he said the sale was over that day. We signed. Two days later we went to Cape Cod Lumber and their price was less that half the price of Anderson for full, new construction Marvin windows. Anderson just offered replacement windows. We immediately cancelled the Renewal by Anderson contract with no problems. They were very good about that. Also I read in the paper the day after we signed their contract that the same sale was still going on. So now we have solid, new windows for less than half the price of Renewal. Renewal seemed like a good product, but was way too expensive.

Description of Work: I needed new windows. The old ones were the original windows installed when the house was built over 40 years ago and they did not provide the efficiency I desired. About two years ago I started to window-shop. After looking at numerous brands andresponding to ads on TV and newspaper inserts, I interviewed several representatives from several different replacement window companies and decided to go with Renewal by Andersen since the original windows had been Andersen. Let’s compare this to buying a car - a Chevrolet Malibu for example. I was told that this car would cost me $100,000, but that special incentives only available today could lower that price 25%. If I signed a contract in the next 30 minutes, I could save another X%; if I paid a 1/3 deposit right now another X% would be deducted. So, let’s say, the final cost would be $60,000 for a Chevy Malibu! Andersen came in and told me that to replace the windows in my entire house would cost around $30,000 (after all discounts were applied). I didn’t want to do that all at once, so we developed a plan to replace 1/3 of the windows in 2011, 1/3 in 2012 and the final 1/3 in 2013 . . . in other words, roughly $10,000/year. 1/3 of the house WAS replaced in 2011. Later, a neighbor in the construction field told me that the price seemed high and that I should consider looking at other brands of replacement windows, like Paradigm, for the rest of the house. A Paradigm installer was called and the price he quoted was $8,750 for the remainder of the house. (Bear in mind, Andersen was going to charge me about $20,000 to do the same thing.) Does Andersen make a good window? Absolutely. Is it twice a good as other brands? I think not. While Andersen promotes their windows as being superior due to the materials used (Fibrex), Paradigm windows were vinyl, foam-filled frames with low-E, Argon-filled glazing. The Paradigm windows appeared to be just a rigid and sturdy as the Andersen (Fibrex) windows. One thing I have noticed after having the remainder of the windows replaced is that if I leave both an Andersen window and a Paradigm window open for an extended period of time for get cross ventilation, the frame on the Andersen window changes shape slightly and the latch becomes difficult to lock. The frame must be pulled or pushed to get the latch to engage. That doesn’t happen with the Paradigm windows. The windows operate smoothly and the latch engages effortlessly. The energy-efficiency stats for the Paradigm windows (low-E, Argon-filled glass) are slightly better than the Andersen windows. All in all, I’m very pleased with the Paradigm windows and I saved over $12,000 in the process (over what would have been spent to do the same job with Andersen). Plus, the remainder of the house was completed in one year!

Description of Work: I am looking for quality new/replacement windows and called Renewal by Anderson for an estimate, however they refuse to give an estimate without my girlfriend being present. What a joke, she wants no part of listening to there sales pitch and I can go to any store and buy there product "all by myself". The sad thing is they have a great product which I may end up using anyway. I found the experience very insulting.

Description of Work: Had them come out for an estimate on my small condo with six windows. Estimate was $7000 for six windows....even the sales man agreed that was way too much to spend on a condo. I apprecitated his honesty. Windows seems high quality and if it were a house I would have probably done it.
