As a company, Northboro Septic service, Inc. has performed over 20,000 Title V inspections, over 125,000 service/troubleshoot calls and has installed several thousand septic systems. We have built our business one satisfied customer at a time, since 1982. We make sure customers can reach one of our office staff by phone 24/7, 365 days per year. If you are a customer or potential customer of Northboro Septic Service, Inc. you will get service when you need it. If you have a problem, simply call and it will be addressed immediately, by one of our 16 employees. Unfortunately, this customer did not call us to vent her frustration around the tank replacement, before she wrote a negative Angie’s list review. I have personally had several phone conversations with her, since I was informed someone wrote a negative review about the company. One of my jobs as general manager is to insure customer satisfaction. I discovered this is her first home with a septic system. The process of dealing with the town rules and Board of Health regulations, permits and approval lead time, was not what she expected. I learned from our conversation that she did not understand, we can not schedule a job until all the documents are ready. It must be done legally first, then schedule the inspection with the Board of Health. We are licensed in 76 towns and understand the process from start to finish. This homeowner just moving out to the suburbs to private septic was unaware of the process. We had Kenny our OSHA trained field super do the work. He is a top installer in the field on residential, large commercial, A.T.U.systems, as well as a Treatment Plant Operator. We did call to cancel, because Kenny had to attend his Grandmothers funeral services. We also rescheduled less than a week later, (not mentioned in the negative review) when he promptly showed up and did the work. I also followed up with Ira, the inspector from Nashoba Board of Health, to clear up the matter of the filter. He had told the homeowner that “it was not needed”. In fact, that is still true in Groton, Ma. What he did not tell her was that the filter was there to protect the most expensive part of the septic system, the leach field. When the leach field fails you have to replace the whole system! A filter helps keep the grease, fats and suspended solids from getting out of the tank from entering the leach field. You want them to stay in the tank and/or filter and get pumped out during your routine scheduled maintenance. Northboro Septic Service, Inc. cleans the filter at no extra charge, each time we pump out a customer’s tank. These baffle filters have become mandatory now in many towns in Massachusetts for preventive maintenance. Some towns have not caught up to the industry standards, therefore many systems fail premature to average life expectancy of a septic system. We installed a Tuf-Tite EF-6 Effluent filter; it will clean up to 1,500 gallons per day. The industry standard for residential systems requires less than a filter only 1/3 this efficient. Feel free to do your own research on the taking your filter out of your septic system vs. replacing it with an even bigger more efficient one, such as the Tuf-Tite EF-6 with a built in gas baffle we installed. I look at it like, someone have a mechanic get rid of the oil filter on you car or truck engine. The truth is a septic system failure costs a lot more to replace than you cars engine! I asked the inspector, if he would call the customer and explain the “rest of the story”, the great benefit of a filter and how it saves you huge money from premature failure. He agreed with me on the positive benefits from a filter, but refused to call the customer back. He did agree to talk to her about it, if she called him back. I let her know to call him to confirm, that in fact there are important benefits to a filter, even though Groton, Ma. does not require one yet.
