Barron & Jacobs

We met with Barron & Jacobs at the Franklin County Home Show at Greenfield, Massachusetts. We explained to the sales representative where our house was and that we lived in a hill town. The rep stated that this was an area that they serviced, within their 50 mile radius. A few days later, B&J called and we scheduled an in-home estimate. Shortly before our scheduled appointment, the estimator called from the road with a road hazard accident and cancelled. The estimator called a few days later to reschedule. We rescheduled for a Friday early afternoon. 45 minutes before the scheduled appointment, the estimator called to explain that when he entered our address into his GPS, he realized that B&J did not service our town. I do not know where their equipment is located, but their office is located 44.1 miles (by road) from our house and 31.5 miles straight distance. Certainly within the 50 mile radius of their service area. I not only lost the few hours preparing and waiting for the estimator's visit, but I also could have been working at time and a half that Friday, except for the appointment with B&J. If you live in a hill town of western Massachusetts, be sure that B&J will service your location before you waste your time with them.

We received a large number of reference letters from satisfied customers on various construction projects completed in our area by Barron and Jacobs. Our first meeting was held at their office to discuss the basic process that would be used in the construction phase. I signed a non-refundable 'Pre-Construction Deposit Agreement' in the amount of $1200.00. The Barron and Jacobs lead-man, Chris, visited our home a number of times to assess the scope of the task as well as his electrician and plumber. Chris then prepared a very detailed cost estimate for the project. Unfortunately the estimate far exceeded what I was willing to invest in this room. I had previously heard Barron and Jacobs performed outstanding work but some-what expensive. From previous projects in which I've been involved I learned quality work does come at a premium. I was sorry to see us so far apart. was

They were responsive, friendly, very professional, and concerned that we were pleased as the project went forward. I would use them again.

From start to finish, we were 100% pleased. We had amicable discussions, and they reciprocated with imaginative design. When the work began, it all went as scheduled. The team was pleasant and cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. The workmanship was excellent, and the porch has with stood hurricanes and heavy snow with no ill effects. We are just absolutely happy with what they did for us.

It was pretty pricey, but this wasn't just the kitchen. They were outstanding! I was happy with the work. It became a lot more than we anticipated when we started because of termite damage and some other things that it became a really extensive project. It turned out fantastic! They are not the cheapest people in the market. They are going to be pricey, but the quality of the work is exceptional. You definitely get what you pay for with them. It's extraordinary workmanship.

The whole project went extremely well. Chris Jacobs came to see us several times before we signed any contracts. He was helpful, patient, and willing to fully answer all our questions: a real professional. He introduced us to the men who would be overseeing this project. Each of them was equally helpful and professional. Chris gave us a timeline for when the work would begin and approximately how long it would take to complete, and he followed it. Unlike other contractors we've used in the past, Chris was as good as his word. The men who did the work for us arrived promptly every day, unless there was rain. They worked until late in the afternoon and cleaned up after themselves. Chris himself came over almost every day to speak to his men and check on their progress, so if we had any questions, he was always available. When all the work was completed in mid-August, Chris returned several times to make sure that we were satisfied. When we found any problems, however small, he had his men take care of them immediately. He has assured us that if any problems arise in the future, we can call on him. Clearly Barron & Jacobs is a company that takes pride in and stands behind its work. My husband and I would gladly recommend Barron & Jacobs to anyone considering house renovation.

The gentleman was very receptive to what we wanted and open to different type of materials we were looking for. So far this has been an excellent experience.

It was too expensive and I should have looked around more, but it was my fault. They were clean and they did what they were supposed to do. They were good.

The remodel started in February but wasn't completed until October....However the workmanship was impeccable. Barron and Jacobs is a and quot;first-rateand quot; company. All of the workers and the job's foreman were professional and concientious Alot of and quot;extrasand quot; drove up the price and a change of personnel mid-stream was a detriment to the job's timely completion...the cost was probably 20-30K more than if we had chosen a different contractor but we may have not been as pleased with the results...( if you can get over the fact that they take an incredibly long time to complete a project....and they do show up every day...they never and quot;disapearedand quot; on us like so many other contractors do for days on end! )
