Description of Work: The Curtice Group designed a complete kitchen remodel including an extensive water damage reconstruction. The job took 4 months to complete. The Curtice Group scheduled all the sub contractors and assigned a project manager to oversee the daily activities. We are very happy with the results!

Description of Work: Provide plans for basement and kitchen remodel. Had deal from angieslist. I was is middle of move so probably didn't communicate what I was looking for effectively. Scott was very prompt. Cost estimate for their group to do work was very high compared to others. Got what I pd for with plans

Description of Work: Walked through the door, expressing prior client cost was 190,000.00, without even doing a walk through of my home or any discussion on what I wanted. I felt I purchased a service and did not receive what I wanted, he just showed up to ensure he showed up. Absolutely unprofessional, spent 10 mins in my home and then left. I want a refund...I am so disappointed.

Response from The Curtice Group
I spend over an hour on June 18th meeting with the client and then taking measurements and video of her existing house. I then send out a proposed plan and the estimated cost on June 25. She had trouble opening the document and reading on her device so I mailed out a full hard copy. I am sorry she was not happy with the cost, but I did provide the service just as promised. I would be happy to provide the drawings and estimate for my defense. They took over 2 hours to develop.

Description of Work: This was an Angie's List big deal: $150 for a "Basement Remodeling/Finishing Design, Consultation and More". After a good meeting at my house and discussion of what I wanted, the Curtice group did produce an estimate. However, it did not include pricing on specific items I had asked them to price--the very items that made me want to have someone work up a quote about. Particularly, I asked them to price baseboard heating, doors, and a double thickness new wall, but these were not included in the estimate rendered. What exactly is the point of a remodeling estimate with 20-40% of the pricing items left out? |Keep in mind that the Curtice group did no real contracting for me. This review is only for an estimate, and only in response to an Angie's List Big Deal

Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal - renovation design. He was very prompt in setting up an appointment to come to my house, and took lots of measurements after talking with |me about what I wanted and making some suggestions on what would work best. |The next day I received a design with an invoice listing what would be done and all the costs. Response from The Curtice Group
I met with this client on Tuesday 10/29. I took down his 'wish list' for the basement area. I took pictures (video) and accurate measurements of the area. I did a design and estimated cost spreadsheet and had that info back to him on 11/6. I never heard from him after that. I would like some feedback as to what he was not happy with? thanks

Scott was puntual, responsive, and straightforward. He explained things well. He stuck to estimates and when he didn't, explained why. His workers showed up every day--with the exception of one subcontractor, there was no waiting around for the next piece to happen. The work was fine quality and we haven't had any problems with anything he did. Since then, he's veen very responsive about helping us with smaller projects. We'd use him again any time. I can't comment too much on pricing. Our previous contractor had dug a foundation and messed some things up, then died suddenly. We didn't have a lot of opportunity to get estimates, so I don't know how others might have compared. But we were satisfied all around.
Description of Work: Scott built an addition onto our house and remodeled the lower floor entirely. He also built a carport and added a deck that was designed to support our hot tub. Since then he has done smaller projects for us--adding gutters, for example.

The project went extremely well. I had several estimates. Scott was the only one to suggest leaving the finished ceiling off because of my concerns about accessing piping etc. It seems obvious now but it wasn't; and no one else suggested it. Scott was happy to work to accommodate what we thought we could afford, offering suggestions to make the price work for us. Scott and his company are simply the best contracting company I have ever worked with.
Description of Work: Basement was gutted because of mold. Foam insulation was installed. Dividing wall was installed. One half of the basement was left unfinished but rudimentary lighting was installed as was as heavy duty shelving. In the other room, concrete was installed at base of stairwell where there was dirt. Also some pipes were replaced and moved. Ceiling was cleaned up. Wiring was neatened up. Walls were put up with materials resistant to the occasional water we get in parts of the basement. Doors were installed. An open closet was installed. A dehumidifier was installed. Quality lighting and wall sockets were installed. Upstairs, the washing machine was put in a pan to catch water in case of a leak and to route it outside. Miscellaneous work was done in the bedroom.

Overall we were very pleased with the results. Scott initially came to the house with a video camera which he used to , not only, tape the areas to be worked on, but also an audio record - I liked that approach. He produced an Excel spreadsheet with a description of work to be carried out and costs. Any subsequent changes (and there were many) were documented and a new quote sent via Excel, detailing the costs. The crew did their best to minimize dust by putting up plastic barriers wherever possible. They were very mindful of our pets. They would, also, tidy up at the end of each day. As with any renovation project, the occasional hiccup happens - they were fixed immediately. I remember one situation - a skylight was installed in the roof to spread light down the stairwell. Scott looked at the positioning of the skylight and felt it was not perfectly placed - it was re-done. I could not see any problem with it! I had heard stories from other home owners about relationships with contractors deteriorating and/or little after project service. If anything needed fixing/tweaking (whether the Curtice Group had carried out the work), Scott took care of it. He still does - a few months ago, after intense rain, a leak developed in the roof. I called Scott and had help within three hours - the company that had installed the roof back in 2005. Turned out that my Satellite TV company relocated the satellite dish, but did not plug the old holes. The after project service has been a very important aspect of the relationship. Our next project is a bathroom renovation. I had no hesitation contacting Scott to quote on the job.

We had originally planned to use a builder that our architect had recommended. But they were A) expensive, and B) kind of snooty and inflexible. TCG had built an addition on my sister's house, and she was thrilled with their work, so we called them in. Scott Curtice (the owner) gave us a lower estimate, and shared ideas with us to help lower costs on the project. He was able to come in under the other contractors NOT because his work is lower quality, and NOT because he is lying to get the project (as other higher-priced contractors will warn you), but because he has lower overhead and uses fewer guys on a project. That makes it go a bit slower, BUT it costs less AND you don't have a million strange people tromping through your home. All of the guys on the crew were extremely prompt, considerate, and friendly. They were nice to our kids, and answered all of my stupid questions. They were such good guys that our NEIGHBORS brought them cookies! They built us a temporary kitchen so we could stay in the house for part of the renovation, and were VERY aware of the need to finish on-time. Considering the scope of the project, we had very few glitches. There was a window ordered that was the wrong size, the doors were late being delivered. But nothing major. And, most importantly, all issues were extremely easy to resolve because Scott Curtice is SO easy to work with. He is incredibly honest and reasonable. He would warn us if we were asking for something that seemed unnecessary or too expensive. And he kept us up-to-date on the project costs... very transparent. Our house ended up beautiful. We get tons of compliments on it, from both friends and passers-by. TCG did a wonderful, quality job. And, even months later, if something comes up that needs fixing, Scott responds quickly and takes care of it.
Description of Work: TCG built an addition to our house: kitchen remodel, new master bed and bath, huge dormers, etc.

Once the work started, Scott and his team were completely reliable! They were at our house as expected everyday at 7:00 AM. ALWAYS! We always understood where we were in the project and what was coming next. His people did excellent work, and cleaned up the work space everyday - without exceptions.
Description of Work: We had been working with someone at Expo on a new bathroom but couldn't seem to get their full attention. A collegue from work recommended Scott and we called. Scott came over and reviewed our ideas, took measurements and had an estimate to us before the end of the week. He then walked through the estimate in detail with my husband and I - explaining each step in the process, giving background on his sub contractors, etc. This explanation was what sealed the deal for us. Scott also spent a Saturday with us picking out new tile, fixtures, and cabinets. He really helped to make the process as easy as possible for us.

I had hired another contractor originally who failed to be responsive to my needs and I realized he did not have professionalism to get my large job done. The Curtice Group was a godsend as they saved my job in the midwinter months. Scott was responsive and professional and met or beat my expectations. He finished a bit early which was great beacuase I had rented a house while the renovations were going on so he saved us a month's rent.
