ROBERT COFER CONSTRUCTION

I didn't have such a great experience with Rob. I found him a bit sloppy, forgetful, and stubborn. He does work fast -- too fast -- not stopping to clarify how you want something done and disregarding past verbal and written instructions. The quality of the work looks like that of a decent DIYer, but not what I expect of a pro. I have a door that doesn't close quite right. Tiles that move around a bit. The price was good, but I'd be definitely willing to pay a bit more to get the job done right.

Update of my previous review of Cofer Construction. I was surprised to get a call from Mr Cofer, the owner of the company. (He was not the person I met with this summer when we needed to replace our septic tank, it was his site manager.) I told him why I gave the negative review and he apologized profusely. I said that I might also be to blame for the poor interaction because I had a bad attitude about having to replace my septic tank in the first place. We chatted on other subjects and he was kind enough to give me some advice on my upcoming kitchen project. I was impressed that he took the time to call and we parted with no hard feelings. I don't want to unduly harm his reputation and I changed the grade of my earlier review. Thank you.

Our job with Robert Cofer Construction was supposed to be for two weeks. It ended up taking six weeks, and we were at a hotel, because we only have one bathroom here, and they were redoing our bathroom, also. We went to see the house as they were working, and my son used to stop by on his way home from school. Cofer would say he'd be right back and he would never return. He did this numerous times. He left our lawn a disaster area. He had to drive the tractor around the back of the house to get to the septic system. He left big, huge tracks. He said he was going to come back with topsoil and take care of it and help level it out and everything. He never came back. One of his employees stole my husband's fishing reel. And Cofer, instead of being a professional about it when my husband went to ask him, started to scream and swear at him and say nasty things. It was totally unprofessional and they took way too long. That cost us a lot of money, being at a hotel. When they were bringing the new tub in, they put a hole in the kitchen wall and when they were taking the tiles off in the bathroom, they put also put a hole in my son's bedroom wall. He's right next to the bathroom. Then, he tried to get my husband to fix it, instead of him doing it. Every time we were supposed to make a payment, he would make sure my husband and I weren't in the same room, when he was asking for money. He was trying to get my husband to write a check and then, get me to write a check. After this was all complete, we still paid him. Three weeks later, he tried to say that we didn't pay amount and we still owed him $300.00. They were totally unprofessional. We went to the hotel November 17th. We did not get back into our house until December 23rd. It was a nasty situation to begin with. We had grey water backing up into our house. We called him in September and he was not able to come out here until November. He also told me too much personal information about what was going on in his family and stuff. He didn't ask us anything, like we were picking out faucets and the shower head. He just brought the cheapest thing he could find and threw it up in the shower and wouldn't talk to us or work with us. They left a mess. We had to call them to tell them to come clean the bathroom. They broke our bathroom window, which was just put in a year before.
