All of the projects went perfectly. Linda is 100% professional and most accommodating. She always listens to what you want and comes up with many ideas for one to choose from. She handles in great detail one step at a time. She is always in contact with the sub contractors involved in the project. And she always follows up after. The quality of her products are top notch and her installers are the best!! With each job one gets a detailed proposal with everything spelled out. One has a very clear picture of the project as well as the cost and time frame.
Description of Work: In the past 8 years, I have worked with Linda Hentschel of Renaissance Interiors on many projects, moving from room to room. This included doing two bedrooms over( paint, wallpaper, window treatments, custom bedspread and pillows and new carpet). We also did window treatments for two other rooms as well as window treatments and new furniture for our living room. Our last project was a bathroom renovation which included gutting back to the studs and beginning again.(new ceiling and walls, shower and tile installed with custom glass door, custom cabinets built, new fixtures, new tile floor and painting and wallpaper.) The last step was accessorizing the new bath.

The project proceeded without a hitch. I am thrilled with the result. I thought the company did a wonderful job helping me identify "my" taste and choices. The final result is that I just love living in my condo.
Description of Work: The project was to redecorate my condo. First, we painted the walls. Second, installed a new rug. Thirdly, we installed half shutters on all windows as well as cornices above the windows. Fourthly, we recovered a sofa and chair. Finally, we selected an electric fireplace which is the new focal point of my living room. Actually, there were also additional touches such as wall hangings and bedspreads that also pulled my "new look" together.

Linda e-mailed me when the treatments were complete and said they were beautiful. She did not come to my home to oversee the installation. Due to her absence, I was put in the position of having to explain to the vendor why these were unacceptable. As a result of my dissatisfaction, I could not allow the installation of these window treatments. The valances were poorly constructed and were not the specifications we had agreed upon; she had not asked for my approval to make any changes. The roman shades were not constructed similarly to the picture in the Hunter Douglas Catalog. The shades' aesthetics were not as I expected and were poorly constructed. In addition, the shades did not have a custom fit and the mechanics were poorly constructed, making them difficult to operate. I immediately called Linda to let her know of the problem; however despite numerous calls and e-mails, she has not made an attempt to resolve these issues. She only e-mailed me to say that the window treatments are beautiful and that I owe her the balance. After being a loyal customer to Linda Hentschel for 10 years, I would expect her to be accommodating; however, she has been less than responsive. Since she won't admit to the discrepancy between the treatments she showed me prior to customization and the final product, I would like a full refund.
Description of Work: Linda came to the house and we discussed drape options. She had a catalog where I picked out what I wanted. She emailed me after seeing the treatments and said they were beautiful. She didn't come to the install and after seeing what the installer brought they weren't anything that I wanted. The valences were the wrong dimensions which she never called to get my approval - she made changes without asking me which is very unprofessional.

Response from RENAISSANCE INTERIORS
In fifteen years of business, Renaissance Interiors has a long history of successful relationships with repeat business and word of mouth advertising. We take great pride in the quality of our workmanship and we are proud of the exacting care that goes into each custom order. We remain committed to client satisfaction and view this is an excellent opportunity to review the facts. We have extensive and detailed documentation regarding all of our transactions with this client over the ten years working together that we are not allowed to post here. This documentation includes our signed contract, a copy of her down-payment check in the amount of $500.00, all of the e-mail communications regarding this window treatment job and the clients unladylike voice messages left in the company voice mailbox. Contrary to the erroneous complaint, we would like to offer these irrefutable facts that we can verify in writing- We have a signed contract for "two flat fold, outside mount Roman Shades with thermal lining" in the fabric that the client selected. It states in writing on the signed contract that the products are custom made to the client's specifications and are therefore not subject to cancellation. The client received a "preferred client discount" of 20%% saving her $239.40. We have received her down payment of 500.00 and she agreed in writing to pay the balance upon installation. We fabricated this window treatment order to exacting standards based on the selection that she made- just as we have in two of her bathrooms, her kitchen, her dining room, her living room and her family room. We had a scheduled installation date for Tuesday, September 9, 2008 that the client canceled without reason or explanation on Sunday, September 7, 2008. On September 10, 2008 the client contacted us to let us know that she was only available on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. In order to accommodate the client's request, we scheduled the installation for 2:00 on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. At that time the client opted to exclude the designer from the installation. The client has had successful installations with out the designer on site in the past. The installer arrived with the "two flat fold, outside mount Roman Shades with thermal lining" on September 16, 2008 and was sent away. We contacted the client in writing on September 17, 2008, September 23, 2008 and September 26, 2008. Her response was unladylike phone messages and public allegations that are false, accusatory and libelous. Renaissance Interiors has paid for the fabric, the lining, the hardware, the labor and the installation. In good faith, based on our written contract, a substantial investment has been made in the work that the client contracted. There is certainly no money available for reimbursement. We depend on the client to follow thru on their contracted commitment. Based on these facts, this certainly seems like a petty complaint; unjust and unfounded, and clearly not an attempt to resolve any questions. However, we stand behind the offer to continue to work diligently to resolve any issues. Despite the clients' clear breach of contract and in addition to her public slander of our reputation, we will again offer to resolve her issue in a kind and professional manner. 1- We are sympathetic to a change in financial circumstances, and based on our ten-year professional relationship we can work with you to make a payment plan for the balance. 2- As stated in the written correspondence of September 26, 2008- "Your window treatments were carefully tailored to your exacting standards and our goal remains to provide you with these beautiful custom window treatments that you ordered. However,if after you have had the shades hung for thirty days, you still want to try a different window treatment, we will be happy to apply a fifty percent discount to any new, custom master bedroom window treatment (thirty percent for Hunter Douglas product) that you order thru Renaissance Interiors before December 1, 2008." 3- If you cannot pay the balance owed, we can donate the window treatments to a deserving charity in our area that would love the custom shades. We are willing to take a loss on this if we can benefit someone in need. If we have not heard from the client by November 1, 2008 we will move forward to resolve this in any manner we see fit.
