Ray met us at he property - he was very punctual, and he got right down to business. Starting outside, then in (working from basement, all the way up to the attic), Ray very clearly noted positive and problem areas, pausing every so often to update his report on his laptop. Throughout the inspection, Ray answered all our questions patiently, while not getting bogged down. He did a good job of presenting the facts in context of the age of the home, and relative to other similar homes. He was not alarmist, but did clearly point out areas of concern. His report arrived promptly, within a day. I was very impressed overall and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. I don't think this will be the lowest price inspection in the area, but for such an important purchase and investment, my priority wasn't lowest price. I feel we received an honest and in-depth report.

Stephen was there when we got to the property. We are first time homebuyers and Stephen took the time to explain everything to us in language that we could understand. We learned a lot during the inspection about how all of the systems in the house work. We began with an inspection of the exterior, and Stephen made sure to give us some tips on how to maintain the siding and how to discourage moisture from being directed toward the home. Our inspection continued inside with the basement and thorough explanation of all of the systems there. We then went to the top floor and attic area where Stephen found some moisture in the attic that the seller's and their agent hadn't even come across. We are glad that he did! Because of his findings, we are having a roofer come out to do an assessment before we purchase the property. Stephen ran all of the appliances, ran the heat in the house (even though it was summertime) just to make sure everything was working properly. The inspection lasted about 2.5 hours and we were very happy with it. Also - the scheduling couldn't have been any easier and we were able to get the inspection scheduled in very short order. Would definitely recommend Jackson Home Inspectors to all of our friends. Cost of inspection included radon testing as well.

The inspector, Choy Chan, is very professional. He showed up 15 minutes early. By the time the buyers showed up, he finished the inspection of the exterior and started the report. He paid great attention to tiny details and conducted the inspection in a very thorough way. He was able to survey termite damage from a remote corner of the basement. He is very knowledgeable about what he is doing and explained problems in detail to the buyers along the way. He also prompted the buyer to take notes and photos when he found anything worth noting. He provided the inspection report within 24 hours. He is report was well typed rather hand written and contains a lot of great details. He distinguished clearly facts from opinions. He's report was also well organized and easy to follow. The best thing is the regular inspection includes pest test as a courtesy to the customers. I will definitely use him again because thanks to him, I think I made the right decision to walked away from a bad house.

Ray Jackson the owner met me at the property on time and than patiently waited for me to finish a conversation with the paving company. He set up his computer and then gave me a brief overview of the process. He then went through the exterior and interior very thoroughly and took time to explain each step and why it is important to both inspect and maintain. As a first time home owner I fount this extremely helpful reassuring. Ray spent nearly 3 hours going over our 2000 SQFT home. He provided a comprehensive survey and report that same evening. I would highly recommend Ray and would happily call him again.

Josh was already inspecting outside when we arrived (and I came early), he was very professional, polite, and knowledgeable throughout. He was very thorough and drew a clear line between what he knew and what we should investigate further. His inspection prompted an architectural and pest inspection, both turned out to be necessary. We proceeded to purchase the home with good piece of mind on what to expect. He would inspect a portion of the house and explain in detail everything he could see, he would go to his computer and write down notes before he forgot, and we would move to the next portion of the house. He didn't take photos or talk to the neighbors as I've heard some inspectors may do, but he was effective regardless. It was clear he had plenty of experience, and I would work with Josh again.

Frank was very informative. He showed me all concerns, and explained to me things that could save me money in the future. He let me know where to focus my attention, like on the second floor where the previous owner had insulated the roof. Thus, not allowing any air to circulate throughout that area. Also in the basement he was very thorough with the electrical box. He pointed out the back porch should be either insulated, or allowed to breath. I was very impressed with Frank and the way he inspected the place, I'm so glad that Angie's List exists to point us in the right direction.

They were punctual and detailed in their inspection. Moreover, they gave us a detailed written report describing the inspection results.

Service was excellent from start to finish. Theresa was able to accommodate scheduling us in the 7day window we had. She also arranged with my real estate agent to drop if radon canisters before the inspection so that we could have the results back in advance of signing the P&S agreement. Buff did the actual home inspection. Friendly and funny, but extremely thorough. Identified a lot of things: some small (loose toilet) which he gave information on how to address (did you know you should caulk a tub while it's full?), some big (found a small pond of water in an inaccessible crawl space). Took less time then other home inspectors I've worked with in the past (just under three hours), but I felt like I got more information. Buff took notes on a tablet computer throughout the inspection and emailed us a full report by the end of the day (9am inspection...received report at 5pm).

Home inspection was excellent and very complete which is what I wanted. Ray was professional and very good about explaining everything to me. I would highly recommend them.

Glenn was on time, professional and very thorough when inspecting the house. He explained each step of the process and answered questions when asked. He helped us understand what was a normal house issue and what the seller should fix because there were potential safety concerns. Within 24 hours, Glenn emailed a detailed report about all the findings. When we had a question about one of the issues he wrote about in the report, we emailed him and he was quick to respond. Glenn's inspection helped us feel comfortable to buy the house.

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing our first home (approx. 1,650 sq. ft., 3-bed, 2-bath) and we weren't sure what to expect with the home inspection process. We feel very fortunate to have picked Jackson Home Inspection and to have met and worked with Glenn. Glenn was punctual, personable, and thorough. He took the time to explain things and educate us throughout the entire process. He even gave us tips based potential plans we had in mind for expansion and other changes to the home. We received the inspection report from Glenn via email less than 24 hours after the inspection. We would highly recommend Jackson Home Inspection, especially to deer-in-headlights first-time home buyers like ourselves!

I was very grateful to Ray both for his flexibility in rescheduling due to adverse weather and for offering to cut the inspection short when it became clear that the house was not right for me. He could very easily have done the full inspection and charged the full fee - but chose not too. Ray was honest and full of helpful advice as we identified issues with the home. He was extremely thorough, identifying some issues with the heating system that a close friend of mine, who is an HVAC professional, had missed when he saw the system. Ray and his team are slightly more expensive than other inspectors, but in this case they actually saved me money over other firms by offering to finish the inspection early. I will definitely use Ray again when we find the right home.

Ray Jackson, the owner of Jackson Home Inspection, Inc., performed the house inspection. We wanted a home inspector who knows how to build a house, not just perform an inspection, because the subject property was constructed by the owner in 1952. So we considered this to be a very high risk inspection. We researched and made our decision to use Jackson. I was not overly concerned about the routine deficiencies generated by a checklist, but rather needed to know if the house was structurally sound and well built. Ray was the right person for this job. He walked me through the house and gave me a thorough understanding of the strengths and weaknesses. Ray has ample knowledge and experience and this was evident throughout the inspection. I am entirely comfortable with his assessment of the house. The report was delivered within 24 hours as promised, but since I had observed the entire process I already knew everything that was important. There was one unique problem identified by Ray that required additional analysis and the use of another specialist. Ray helped me assess the problem, which was outside the standard scope of a home inspection, and gave me advice on how best to approach the seller on this matter. There was no additional charge for this advice. The follow up was all part of the home inspection he provided us.

The inspection was very professional. I hadn't met Ray before, but he was very personable and clearly extremely knowledgable. I have previously contracted the construction of several new homes, so I consider myself to be an educated consumer. Ray started by reviewing the exterior of the structure and then moved inside. He documented his observations in his computer as he went. By the time we had completed half the inspection, I was clear that I didn't want to purchase the house based on items Ray highlighted. I decided to call off the remainder of the inspection, and Ray made an adjustment on the cost of the inspection (this price adjustment is not reflected in the price I listed). I would definitely use Ray again, and he was much better than another inspector I had used previously.

We highly recommend Choy! We are new to the area and our agent was acting as a duel agent and couldn't recommend an inspector. A home is a huge investment and we did not want to just blindly pick out the phone book. We started with a property in one town, but after his thorough inspection we realized it was going to be too much money and too much work, so we decided not to purchase it. The following day we went to an open house, made and offer, and made sure Choy was available again the following week for the inspection. He again performed a detailed and thorough evaluation. He arrived before we did for both inspections. He was knowlegable and would teach us as we went along. He comes with his "poker" and pokes EVERY beam and window sill to make sure there is no insect or water damage. I would definitely use him again. Thanks Angies list.

The inspection did not reveal any major problems with the home, however, since purchasing it a year ago we have found major structural damage. The sill is completely rotted as is the entire screened-in porch and balcony. We also have active termites. These are extremely costly problems that need immediate attention. While we understand the inspector has certain limitations, isn't the point of an inspection to find these types of issues out? I cannot understand how none of this was discovered. I discovered the rotted sill when gardening - my shovel hit the side of the house and went through it! - how was this missed??? What is more frustrating is that the way the report is worded, there is no recourse we can take. All over the report it says things like "Dense vegetation limits view and access trim growth off and away, wood trim at or close to grade. May attract wood boring insects." I believe he should have moved aside the tall grass and actually inspected the home and instead of saying may attract wood boring insects - have looked for signs of them and said there are wood boring insects (which now that I know what to look for - are clear as day). This is our first home we have purchased so I have no prior experience with home inspectors, however, I would not recommend Jackson and if others are like this I would not recommend a home inspection at all. Make your offer look better and forgo the inspection.

Glen did a fantastic job. He arrived at the home before my husband and I did and was already looking at the siding when we arrived. My husband and I tagged along on the inspection and Glen explained everything that he was looking at. He was very knowledgeable and extremely willing to answer our many questions in detail. He posted our report the day of the inspection so that we could look it over before leaving for the holiday weekend. We would definitely use him again!

Sorry to say but we had a bad experience here with these guys. First off the person we worked with was not partucually friendly or helpful. Second, I do not feel he did a very good job. We have been in the house now for 10 days and we are finding all types of things he should have found out. I am not talking naggy little things I mean he missed an ENTIRE heating zone. I was fortunate enough to talk to the owner about it and he confirmed that my suspicions I was right and the inspector was wrong. He also missed and failed to comment on some obvious things like a half dead tree in the front yard. We spent a lot of money on this inspection and are quite dissatisfied. If I had the time and the money I would have brought someone else in. Now I am wishing I did, who knows what else we will find that this guy either ignored or just did not understand.

Josh arrived early and was already there when we arrived, which was 15 minutes early. He immediately began the exterior inspection of the home even before the real estate agents arrived to let us in. He was extremely thorough and found things that I would've overlooked with the siding, roof, flashing, trim, caulking, and more. I brought my brother-in-law along for the inspection who has done some construction work and knew more questions to ask than I did. Josh was never stumped and addressed every question we had. He pointed out every issue out to us and frequently asked us if we had questions or concerns. We never felt rushed or as though he was hurrying through the inspection. He possessed a strong knowledge of building practices and of the systems in the house (furnace, electrical, oil tank, hot water heater, plumbing, etc.). We were very pleased with his knowledge, background and experience, thoroughness, professionalism, personality and the comprehensiveness of the inspection. He also gave us his cell phone number and told us to feel free to call him at anytime if we thought of any new questions, even five years down the road! In addition to the Josh's great service, the office staff was very courteous and professional as well. They got us a short notice, weekend appointment at a reasonable price. I feel like we got a "Holmes on Homes" worthy inspector and would highly recommend Jackson to anyone.

Ray was our inspector and spent 3.5 hours looking over the home we were about to purchase. He did a great job of answering all of my questions about what he observed as well as questions that I asked along the way. He was running 5 minutes late that morning but promptly called prior to the apptment and informed us that he would be a few minutes late and apologized when he arrived. He was honest with what was good about the house and what needed attention immediately and what could wait to done without causing any further issues. He also commented on the magnitude of what it would take to fix an issue from window replacements to tile replacement. The person who answers the phone is top notch and makes the experience even better. For example, we wanted to get the radon cannisters dropped at the home before the inpsection so that they could be picked up when the inspection was done. She contacted our realtor and coordinated a pick up of the cannisters from an inspection taking place near by so they could be set the day before the inspection. She then called me back to let me know what was taking place. The radon company they work with insured the results would be ready the next day as well. I had also used Jackson Home Inspection 6 years ago on my first home. Glenn did the inspection then and did a good job then so I had no reservations about calling them again. Overall, I had a top notch interaction with this company.

We had a very positive experience with Jackson Home Inspection and would use their services in the future. We had no trouble reaching the company (live receptionist answered) and our inspection was immediately scheduled at a time convenient for us. We were given the name of our home inspector, given that inspector's cell phone number, and were briefly contacted TWICE in the course of 48 hours reminding us of our upcoming inspection. The home inspector (Glenn) arrived on time and was both professional and courteous. This was a modestly sized (2000 sq. ft.) and relatively new detached home (built in 1975). Glenn took close to 3 hours to perform what I felt was a thorough inspection. He was systematic, looking for problems in a particular unit of the home (exterior, electrical, heating, etc.), informing us of defects as they were found. Then - and this is important - he'd summarize his findings before moving on to the next unit. At the end of the inspection, he outlined the most important segments of the report and the most important repairs needed.

When I arrived at the site at 8:45am, Buff had already been inspecting the exterior and the grounds. He was friendly, engaging, and had a great sense of humor (which was appreciated as a first-time homebuyer on an insane schedule!). I stayed with him through the entire inspection, he made sure to explain everything that he was doing and answered all of my questions with detailed answers. Buff was not just a personality, his knowledge of home construction was obvious. His inspection was thorough and left no stone unturned - I learned a lot about the house as we went and by the time we were completing the process I already had the assurance I needed to know that the house was in the shape I expected....AND that choosing Jackson was the right decision. In addition to the level of quality with the actual inspection, Buff completely embraced the speed at which we were working and proceeded to sit in the car and type his report up. While he was there, the seller's agent and the owner of the house came by (the owner is a contractor), and Buff was willing to talk directly with the owner/contractor about his concerns. This exchange was perhaps unorthodox, but as a buyer it was greatly appreciated. Buff was able to converse with the owner/contractor in a knowledgeable and direct way, making most of the items that were going to be in the report crystal clear. The owner even asked Buff a number of questions about how he'd recommend to fix certain items. Within an hour, my phone chirped and I had the report in hand - finished and sent from the confines of his truck! This speed, quality, and direct communication allowed me to reach a Purchase & Sale agreement with the owner only 5 days after acceptance of the offer, complete with a buyer's addendum of 30 items recommended for fixing by Buff. I would not hesitate in any way, shape or form in recommending Jackson based on my experience with them, and with Buff. A+!

Great office staff that scheduled our appt easily and quickly. Called to confirm and on the day of the inspection, the inspector was 30 min early. He was efficient and thorough yet didn't drag things out. He did a great job and we got our money's worth. I think this was the lowest price we were quoted.

We called this company because of the great reviews that it had on Angie's list. We were not disappointed! Our inspector was Frank and he arrive before time and had went thru the outside of the home. When we got there he started to explain the different issues that he had noticed on the outside of the foundation, roof, back stairs, patio, front stairs, railings and porch areas. He explain in full detail. His personality was great and to top it off he is bilingual and was able to speak to us in Spanish as well! He was very thorough and we went thru the whole house with him while he explained every little thing in detail and also what professionals we would need to correct the problems. He took his time and after running the area with us and explaining what he was finding he would occasionally stop to take notes on his laptop. At these times it would give us a break just to recap and discuss what we just had discovered. He gave us insight in terms of using energy efficient materials and also told us where to go to get discounts from the government if we needed it. He also told us on the way if he would see potential for bugs or insect problems. It took him about 3 1/2 hours to complete the whole inspection. There is not one negative thing to say about Frank, he was very professional, personable, thorough etc etc. Thanks to his detailed report and thorough inspection we were able to get out of the home which ended up having more issues than the home owner's inspection had initially revealed, so we saved a lot of money and hassle by having JHI come do our inspection. These people know their stuff!!! By the way another good comment is that the ladies at their main office were very nice and prompt when asking for the quote for the inspection. We will definitely be using JHI again in the future and I will recommend them to our family and friends...even our realtor asked for his business card. They were great!!!
