There's a disconnect between the owner Jim and his crew. Poor communication. Fair price.

It was ok.

He's been unresponsive, unprofessional. He was just making un empty promises. Him and the running of all the business was unprofessional. He just took my 5000 and then keep on pushing the project forward and kept giving excuses.

Jim came immediately to see it and quickly returned an estimate which, after waiting some time for other estimates, turned out to be in the middle of the 4 estimates we got; however with a little negotiation, we decided to go with J&R. Since we were flexible on the timing as well as a little undecided about the paver color mix that we wanted, the work didn't happen for some time, which was not a problem for us. However, during that time, I felt the communication from Jim was lacking. For example, we asked Jim for some guidance on paver color mix, and he said he'd get info from his providers & get back to me, but never did. Communication around the removal of the stains was similar. Regarding dates for the work, his original estimate of when the work would start didn't happen (which again wasn't a big deal for us because of our flexiblity, however we would have appreciated a call to tell us of the delay), and at times workers would just show up without our being informed ahead of time. I know Jim is juggling a number of jobs and so is very busy, and maybe it's just me, but I found these things annoying. However, once the team of masons arrived, they were wonderful! They WERE responsive to our questions and they worked really hard. The job proved more challenging and time-consuming than originally thought because the amount of curve in the walkway required a LOT of cutting, but the result was really fantastic and we are very happy with our new beautiful walkway!

Jim and his crew were very professional and efficient. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry, gave me a quote promptly and was interested and enthusiastic about the project. He and his crew arrived on the scheduled date and worked every day as weather permitted until the project was finished. As the project progressed on several occasions I realized that modifications to the original design would be required. Jim and his crew were responsive and accommodating, as concerned as I was about achieving the best possible design solution and a top quality installation. They were thoughtful about the color and finish match of materials and worked with me to assure that the layout of a curved walk met my expectations. On several occasions design modifications resulted in a scope of work increase. Jim always provided me with a prompt explanation and update on the cost implications of the changes, and I could get in touch with him quickly if necessary via email or text. I'm delighted with the results and would recommend them to anyone considering a similar project.

It went very well. Existing steps were replaced with granite steps and are guaranteed by J and R not to settle. Granite steps look much better than the previous steps which were not made of granite. The paving stone walkway comes off the front steps to the house and makes a gentle curve to meet the steps going down to the driveway. The curve is very graceful...exactly what my wife and I wanted. Mike and David, the two guys working on the project, were friendly and professional. Jim, who oversaw the project, responded quickly to our request for a quote and followed up to see if we had received the quote and if we had any questions. He gave us a time frame for beginning the work. They were delayed by a day beginning the work due to heavy rain but they kept us informed of the delay. When they began the work, they stayed at it until it was complete. In all, very pleased with the result and the way the project was handled.

Excellent work. Within a week of calling them they started the work and came every day. Finished the work on schedule. Work was excellent. Would use again.

Working with J&R Landscaping was a very frustrating experience. I asked to be hands on in the design and planting process. Every morning I would step outside and something else had been done, dug up, planted without me knowing - and it was not done where we had previously discussed. As far as the design element, I trusted Jim to create a landscaping plan, but I should have really done it myself because he ended up picking out horrible plants that are twigs all winter long with no evergreens anywhere along the foundation. We ended up re-doing all the front landscaping on our own this Spring because our landscaping looked pathetic. Six of his "guaranteed" shrubs died and he won't replace them. He owes us a magnolia tree which was paid for last fall and now he is refusing to accept our phone calls or return them. Very costly and frustrating experience. Would never recommend this company.

James gave us free quote for the jobs and answered all our questions and concerns. His team workers are very effective and professional. They removed all the rocks and tree stumps, grade the existing dirt and put extra top soil. They seeded entire area. Two people worked very hard for whole day. Our new lawn is pretty. We will hire them for all the yard works in the future. Thank you very much!
