Description of Work: I called Barrett to have the annual service done on my gas furnace. The company that installed the furnace, Hall Oil, did not come when my furnace did not start on the coldest day of winter. The men from Barrett were on time, pleasant and professional. They went above and beyond.

Description of Work: We needed a plumber urgently in a Saturday to fix heating for our tenants. They were responsive (after hours answering service) and came at short notice. Very grateful and will use them for all out plumbing needs doing forward.

Tested freezing point of that system and implied corrosivity. |Used compressed air to blow out water from potable piping system. Added propylene glycol antifreeze to drains and sumps. |Shut off natural gas. |James, the Tech on our project did a fine job.

 + 1 moreBarrett was straightforward and professional. They recommended a boiler that would provide relatively high efficiency but also reliability and easy maintenance for my elderly mother. The price was good. They did a good job with a minor plumbing repair as well. I recommend them and would use them again myself.
Description of Work: Conversion to gas heat, including installation of new boiler and indirect hot water heater. Barrett also did a minor plumbing repair.

 + -1 moreWhen my water heater started leaking, one of my friends, who is a custom builder recommended I contact Barrett Plumbing and Heating. The owner came by to look at the situation shortly after I called the office and I had a written estimate that afternoon. Once I decided to accept the estimate, they had a plumber at my house the next day. He spent a day removing the old system and installing the new one. Their sub-contracted electrician handled installing a new outlet and a hard-wired carbon monoxide detector to bring the installation up to code. Everything was neatly installed and the area was cleaned up afterward and the new water heater worked like a charm. A few weeks later, I noticed a small leak at one of the fittings. After a quick call to the office, they had someone at my house in 15 minutes to fix the problem! I would highly recommend Barrett Plumbing and Heating. They are thorough and professional.
Description of Work: Replaced a leaking hot water tank with a high-efficiency, condensing tankless on-demand water heater. Removed the old water heater and moved the gas and water lines to the new location for the new water heater.

 + -1 moreArrived early. Listened carefully, and then we walked around basement, oriented ourselves to bathrooms and kitchen, and figured out each run of pipe. Crossed off possibilities one at a time. We didn't in the end, figure it out, and the leak has miraculously stopped, but I learned more about that house than I thought possible. Our new, best plumber ever, also commented on some fixture issues, and our boiler maintenance plan. He reminded us that if the leak begins again, to call and get immediate attention, that intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose. I felt well-served, unrushed, treated like an intelligent human, and I also thought that this job was important and the only thing on the mind of the plumber.
Description of Work: In a 1970's era house, a an unidentified ceiling leak has begun. The plumber, sent by Barrett, spent a couple of hours tracing down, and identifying each water supply, and heating run to help me figure out the trouble. (It had not even occurred to me that it could be a heating system problem, but once he spied the boiler...)
