I was referred to this company @tscapeinc through the @Belgard company for a paver patio project I was interested in completing. After a few phone calls and meetings with Tom (owner/CEO of T-Scape) I received a quote from him and thought it was high. I tried to negotiate a price and understand exactly what he would be charging me for as his estimate was very vague (so were his answers). After some back and forth he said his work made it into a catalog, his price is his price and he usually does work in nicer towns/cities than mine. He then got up and left without even asking me if I would accept his price. He didn’t even say goodbye, thank me for the opportunity or anything. He just stormed out of my house got in his truck and sped down the street. He was completely rude and unprofessional. Quite frankly I was appalled by his behavior. If he is going to be in the customer service business, he should work on controlling his emotions and understand that negotiations are part of business. Sometimes you may not agree with a customer, but ultimately your actions are a reflection of your business and there is always a professional way to handle adversity. In my opinion it is obvious to me that Tom and his company is not a good advocate or representative of the Belgard, Anchor – Oldcastle brand and should not be listed as a preferred vendor on their site. These are reputable companies that I have personally worked with in the past and I can tell you that he does not share their same values and culture when it comes to business practices and customer service. Bottom line is if you are looking to work with someone who shows up late for appointments on multiple occasions or does not call you back when he says he would; or if you are looking for a company that provides you with a high estimate and when asked to explain what they are charging for and can’t and even asks “do you really need to know that?”; or if you are looking for someone who ridicules and discriminates against the town and neighborhood you live in because he has done work in ritzier towns/cities then T-scape is the company you have been looking for! If not, I highly do not recommend working with them.

Response from T-SCAPE INC
Thank you [Member Name Removed] for your review, as you can clearly see this is my first negative review, here on FB or any other SM platforms, but we know it takes all types to make the world go round...right?!?! It's really no surprise though, as I could tell exactly what type of person I was dealing with while sitting at the table during your perceived "negotiations". Which actually felt more like an interrogation, and to be quite honest your questions were actually quite insulting....questions like: "Really you charge $65, per man hour?! Can I come work for you?" Well actually yes I do charge that because I pay my guys well, that's why I have and can keep great employees, but not all of that goes to their salary, that also covers a host of other things like the truck payments and insurance for the vehicles that get them to the jobs, the fuel, the insurance the company has that covers against liability, and workers comp....I could go on and on, but I actually don't need to, it's really not your business to know all of the minute details of how I structure my pricing, what is clear in black and white was the $65/man hour charge, you have the ability to take it or leave it. You also most certainly have the ability to negotiate if you feel it necessary to do so, but please learn to do so respectfully! Insulting, berating and demanding to pick apart details of an estimate is not the way, contractors are also human beings, who deserve as much respect as anyone else. I got a sense by the way you spoke to me that you've been burned by contractors in the past, which may have led to your very condescending attitude during our last meeting. Although I felt some level of empathy for you (because no one would act in such a way, if they hadn't been mistreated in the past) I have enough pride in my company and in my self to know I do not have to endure such treatment (a pride which you so eloquently twisted in your review-attempting to paint a picture of me boasting and bragging about my work...however truth be told most people like knowing the company they are choosing to go with does work good enough to make it into a catalog, there is a certain safety in that as you know what you are getting so to speak). I must say I endured an entire meeting with you maintaining a calm and collected composure as you attempted to "flex your negotiating muscles"...however there came a point in the meeting that was very telling, I began to feel very uncomfortable by the numerous insulting questions and comments and in that moment your wife excused herself and walked out of the meeting, which tells me she was clearly embarrassed by your behavior. I understand that you may have written this post because after listening and answering as many questions as I could during our over one hour meeting, I did very politely collect my materials and folders and tell you "we're all done here". I know that may have caught you off guard, I could sense that in your face (and you were a little wrapped up in trying to get what you wanted to notice how negatively you were behaving trying to get it). That being said I'm sure my refusing your project probably hurt, as I know your wife was upset with you (I could hear her yelling at you as I quietly left the house). So I can only guess that this review may be attempt to save face in your relationship, but be aware my perception is that it will certainly be perceived by the social media audience as a literary "stamping of the feet." I apologize that it was only during our last meeting that I fully discovered your true character, and I determined through the course of that last meeting that this was not a business relationship I felt comfortable with entering into contract. I understand that you needed to go with a Belgard Authorized Contractor (of which I am) because of the financing you needed to get this work done, and I also understand that you were approved for a set amount and it seems you weren't able to stretch that amount to get everything you wanted to get done, hence why you felt the need to "play hard ball" in negotiations, to try to get the entire scope of work done for what you were approved for. But it's not my business practice to lose my shirt on a job, especially during a season when work is plentiful. It's actually part of the reason I have stayed in business as long as I have, with the extremely positive ratings and reviews here and on other marketing platforms. I was very honest with you when I told you this is my busy season, I told you I do work in all sorts of areas -cities and towns, and yes I travel to places like Abington, and Marshfield and a host of other locations I mentioned...I never once expressed a judgement over where you live or stated that your place of residence was not "ritzy" enough to do business in. In fact your town isn't much different demographically than the town in which I am proud to both reside and to run my business out of (this was clearly either an attempt to twist words again or you might just be self-conscious about the town you live in? or maybe both). I actually told you of the distances I travel to do jobs because I wanted you to know that I do not NEED to solicit jobs, I'm getting calls from all over, I do not need to sell my soul to obtain work and gamble losing my shirt in an attempt to make a buck, and although I love the outdoors and working in the dirt, I absolutely do not need to work for someone who would treat me like dirt. I will continue to choose to work for people who value and respect the quality of work we do and I will continue to express that same respect and go above and beyond for those new and longtime customers. I very much value my customer base and they value my company. Thank you for the review in which no work was performed, to be clear a review of a free estimate and the subsequent meetings between two/three individuals about to sign a work contract, two individuals who were not on the same page and did not see eye to eye. I'm sorry that the events of the meeting led me to choose not to enter into contract with you. But based on this review and your call into the Better Business Bureau I absolutely know I made the right choice. I hope you too can see how this wouldn't have worked, and can come to terms with this yourself, in the very near future! Thank you again for the initial consideration and I hope you found value in the free estimate and the time that I spent free of charge planning your project and consulting with you and your wife. I hope this interaction helps shape your future interactions, in a positive way, with any contractors who come in hopes of doing 'respectful' business with you! Best of Luck!
