The timing was not perfect but other than that they did an efficient job. The one thing that I did not like is that the one guy that grounded the stump, did not clean up the stump. Everything else was great with this company.

It was very professional, just what we wanted. They were easy to reach by phone, punctual on both visits (the estimate and the work itself) did the work well, and cleaned well after. The price seemed reasonable to us. We will sure use them for the next time we need tree services.

It had been quite a few years since our trees were pruned and we had a lot of dead wood that was threatening to come down. John came promptly to give us a quote. He spent a lot of time explaining what needed to be done. I found him to be very professional, yet personable at the same time. We were having a family medical crisis at the time and he was very willing to work with us to accommodate our schedule. The work was done in a timely matter and there were no surprises. The clean up was perfect. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and use him again.

Marquis Tree came on time with an enormous crane, a log truck, a chip truck and a large crew. They said they brought one million dollars worth of equipment. They set the crane up in my front yard and reached over the house and took the tree down in 3 sections. They tied the crane to a section of the tree, cut it off and then lifted it over the house to the street where they chipped up the branches and loaded the large logs on the log truck. I had told some neighbors what was up, so they could move their cars off the street. They came out of their houses to see the spectacle. Everyone was very impressed. Marquis was done in one hour. I have delayed having this tree cut down because it is in a narrow space and surrounded by hazards. If I had known how well it would go I would have called them sooner. The tree was sick and beginning to rot on the inside. We are glad to have it gone.

I believe the price was comparable to others. The responsiveness was excellent. They got to the job within about a week. We did have to change the date once, but it was because it was raining. They arrived on time. The quality of the service was extraordinary. They came with a big crane and about 8 people. The operation was run very professionally. They came early in the morning and were done by 4pm. They cleaned up so well that you wouldn't even know they were there.

John's work was exceptional, after receiving four different quotes, he was by far the most profession and least expensive. Further, he was quite flexible with a couple personal requests. I would not think twice about hiring his group again and can highly recommend him to others.

Initially, the experience was good. The estimate was reasonable and the company was responsive to our request. The work was planned for a Friday afternoon. The crew that came to the house was visibly upset about the scheduling and complained about the size of the job being planned for so late in the day. It was someone at their own company who scheduled it for that time. The work we requested was done well and came to the exact price estimated. The overall experience was not great.

A little tough at first to get in touch and get a callback. Came to appointments as promised. Cleaned up all debris.

When Mr. Marquis realized my concern about tree branches hanging over service wires he immediately scheduled the work for that same afternoon. The men were courteous and pleasant. It was amazing to watch the man in the cherry picker cut each log size piece of the tree trunk and drop it in a neat pile. I was most pleased with the work.

Excellent. Work was done as described in proposal and did a bit of extra trimming at my request (for a nominal extra charge that I insisted on paying them). I had to reschedule a day before they were scheduled to come due to a personal issue and they gave me no problem. Came back the following week. They were efficient and courteous. I had several estimates and theirs was among the lower ones.

John Marquis was prompt and professional about returning calls, but they were a little too busy during the weeks I was getting estimates and weren't able to get over to provide an estimate before I selected another tree service company.

I contacted the company in the morning and the owner came in the early afternoon. We agreed on the work and the priced. I was told that this was a very busy time but that the work would be done within two weeks unless he added another crew. This was okay. I received a call the same afternoon saying that if it was okay with me he would do the work the next day. The crew arrived at the stated time and performed the work in a very professional manner, even cleaning off the roof and remove shrubs that had started to grow there. I had been concerned about clean up but that proved to be of no concern. The work was done quickly and efficiently and the cleanup was 100%. The yard looked better when they finished than it did when they started. The crew also used great care not to damage an area of flowers that were right in the path of the limbs they would drop. I would definitely use this company again.

Large oak in front yard was mainly dead and rotted in the inside completely. It was very close to street and wires. Required police detail (additional $160 cost) for 4 hours. They did an excellent job removing tree and causing no damage. Also removed 4 oak trees that were overhanging our pool fence but on the neighbors' side of fence. Were very cooperative with neighbors and did a nice job of cleaning up and keeping the area from any damage. Other overhanging limbs were also removed -again a great job. They also had to coordinate their work with landscapers doing lawn work that unfortunately had to happen at the same time due to scheduling the various work crews. Very communicative and helpful. They had to return the following day to remove the very large tree trunks and again for the stump grinding. Both times we were informed of this and they returned promptly each time as they had stated. They even came back a couple of weeks later to check in. Highly recommend this company.

I called three times to get a quote on some work on a tree in our backyard that had fungus on it. I got one call back and when I called that person (twice) I never heard back. I also called the office twice. One I spoke to an answering service and once I left a message. Every time I called, I told them I was an Angie's List customer and I was still ignored.

I would rate them average to poor. After I accepted the bid, I did not hear from them. After about three or four weeks, I called them and was informed they would come in a few days. They came and took down the trees and left them on my front lawn for almost two weeks. The weight of the trees tore up my lawn. I called them to asked when they would remove them. They said they were coming in a few days. They finally came but did not grind the stumps. I had to call again before they came back and did that. Lastly, they refused to honor the Angie's List discount. I had mentioned it to the person who gave me the estimate, who said they would, but it was not documented on my estimate. Because it was not documented, they refused to honor it.

Excellent. From getting the estimate to having the stumps ground, everyone was very professional and courteous. They brought in a Crane, a chipper, and a truck, worked very efficiently, and completed the cutting part of the job in half a day. Within a week, someone came back to grind the stumps.

Showed up when he said he would to give me information and an estimate. Performed the work as he said he would in a clean and timely manner.

Overall things went great. I called for an estimate and they arrived next day. Arrived when they said they would. Listened to my questions. Gave me great detail on the work they could do. When I agreed to the work, they scheduled a good time for me, arrived when they said they would, did the work they said they would and cleaned up afterwards. Could not have asked for anything more. Great experience and would use again.

We worked with 3 different crews over the course of the project. Zach's crew was incredibly polite, knowledgeable and professional. Marquis did an excellent job with our tree removal. They even returned to grind remnants of a stump that was interfering with our driveway. One crew even went above and beyond when they diffused a difficult situation with a neighbor angry about the tree removal.

Crew arrived on time, and finished within three hours. Not a single branch was broken on any of the shrubbery. The crews removed all of the debris from the trees, and cleaned up sawdust on our property as well as our neighbor's (the tree was overhanging the neighbor's yard). Excellent and thorough job. We would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others. The B grade for price is simply because we didn't have anything to compare it to. We were impressed with their response, and opted to use them rather than getting other estimates.

Very good: these are professionals. When I called to get a quote, Peter came out the same day. After I accepted the quote, he said it would be done within the next 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I called and we fixed a day and time. They were very careful to place the equipment so that none of the surrounding trees would be damaged (for example by the crane swinging round). The pine's trunk was a foot from the house, so we were concerned about debris or trunk falling onto the roof, but they are very professional and friendly. They did the lot in an hour. Two days later they ground the stump. We had originally asked Peter to quote also for the removal of a huge Chinese elm that was too close to the house and disrupting the foundations. It is a beautiful old tree, and he came up with a solution that would save the tree and the house but which involved no work for Marquis. Impressive, given that it would have garnered Marquis several thousand $. They know and clearly love trees.

My phone call was returned immediately, and we set an appointment for a few days later for an estimate. He showed up exactly on time and immediately gave me an estimate as well as a window in which he could complete the work. I found his estimate to be very competitive. I received a phone call a day before the work was performed and confirmed that that day would work for me. When they showed up to do the work they were all extremely professional and well mannered. The work was done very quickly and all yard waste was removed. My wife and I were both very impressed with the work and would definitely use them again as well as recommend them to others.

Marquis Tree Service was: Professional, prompt, polite & thorough!

They recommended fewer "treatments" to our trees than another tree service. We're new homeowners, so we don't know a lot about tree care. I'm hoping that Marquis was knowledgeable & told us not to do the additional treatments because they were actually not important & would've been a waste of our money. Three estimates we got for removal of the tree alone were quite comparable.

I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE REQUESTING AN ESTIMATE, AND MY CALL WAS RETURNED WITHIN 48 HOURS. JOHN, WHO I BELIEVE IS THE OWNER, TOLD ME THAT HE COULD SEND SOMEONE OUT, BUT IT MIGHT TAKE A WHILE TO DO THE WORK. WITH HURRICANE KATRINA CAUSING SO MUCH DAMAGE, HE AND MANY OF HIS WORKERS WERE HEADED TO LOUISIANA TO HELP OUT. IF I COULD WAIT A MONTH OR SO, HE'D GIVE ME A GOOD DISCOUNT. OTHERWISE, HE RECOMMENDED FINDING ANOTHER TREE COMPANY (WITH HIS APOLOGIES).
