They were completely professional. It took a while because we had a lot of damage in the area. They provided us with the best price and they did a great job.

We wanted 5 trees removed from our recently purchased property. Marquis was relatively responsive and came in much lower for cost estimate than other tree services we contacted. They arrived on the scheduled work day and removed all 5 trees in < 2 hours. They brought a chipper with them and chipped up the trees as they took them down. They cleaned up the stray branches from the tree cutting as well. They said they would be back in 3-5 days to grind down the stumps and they did return to complete the work in ~3 days. We were satisfied with the work, very fast and efficient and very reasonably priced.

Went very well. John Marquis was responsive and easy to work with; make helpful suggestions but didn't seem to be trying to do more than what I asked. We also were able to work out an arrangement such that he removed my trees as well as some for the neighbors at a discounted price, which was terrific. The work was delayed a couple of times due to weather but still was completed in a timely manner. Marquis was able to remove 3 incredibly large pine trees in the back yard without any damage; they were required to go over a 6-foot fence and did so without any problems. They also removed another smaller tree in the front yard (which was scheduled), and then at the last minute, removed 2 additional trees in the back yard that I decided needed to come down. They did not grind the stumps immediately but came back a couple of weeks later; this might have bothered some but wasn't an issue for me. Also, they do not remove the wood chips, as an FYI. The workers arrived very early and finished by mid-afternoon. They cleaned up the street area where they were grinding the logs incredibly well, you never would have known they were there. There was no visible damage to the yard from the crane; the only issue was that they knocked over the mailbox of my neighbor. Although they put it back up, it wasn't stable, so the neighbor had to fix it himself. Everyone was pleasant and the overall experience was terrific.

There were a few hick-ups during the removal (nobody's fault but they just happen sometimes), but John had been a great professional as well as a caring individual. He is responsive and willing to listen to the customer's concerns and resoning, which is absolutely the golden merit of a service professional. I have no reservations of using John's crew again or recommend to any other people who had similar service request.

Excellent experience. They were very responsive in returning call and providing estimate. They even went to my yard and called me at work when I wanted updated estimate to include additional trees over original estimate. Workers were prompt, friendly and did great job of cleaning up.

Marquis provided an excellent quote and followed up with excellent work. They are the most professional service company we've ever dealt with. We had originally arranged to have six trees removed from the front and side yard. After removal of the first couple, Marquis recommended some addtional trees to be removed. They removed the trees at a great price, I couldn't say no. They placed crane and equipment in driveway in areas where the lawn would not be damaged. Marquis tarted a winter special, free tree grinding soon after the work was completed. They came out and ground the trees with no extra cost.

Marquis was very professional. There was a misunderstanding early in the job, which caused both sides to be somewhat upset. John Marquis came to our home and resolved the issue promptly, ensuring that we were satisfied at every step. A true 100% class act.

The experience, quite honestly, was unbelieveably professional - start to finish. Kristy (office administrator) was extremely friendly and helpful. She kept me informed of all scheduling and sent out all important paperwork in a very timely fashion. John Marquis met with me right before the crews came to the property. He was a gentleman and explained the whole process to me (he was also thankful that I had cleared the entire area of cars and trailers for their complete access). The crane, chipper and hauler trucks then arrived with a 4 man crew. This 4 man crew comprised of a fearless 6'-6" climber/sawman (Justin), an extremely talented crane operator (Dave Happ), and two tireless hard-working chippers/sawmen (Dave and Marlon). This crew quite honestly may have been the hardest working, most talented bunch of guys that I have ever witnessed working together. They all had their jobs and communicated with each other almost effortlessly. The work was extremely precise and not a bit of damage to our home was incurred. Even our tiny Japanese maple survived without a scratch (even with enormous oak trees being maneuvered around it only inches away). All equipment (crane, chipper, trucks, saws were in grade A condition and there were no breakdowns of any equipment. It was amazing to see Justin with 30" chainsaw hauled away overhead by crane operator Dave Happ and then lowered into the center of a huge tree. Justin would strap the tree, lower himself from the crane ball, cut the huge trees from 20' up, then fly to the ground by rope while Dave hoisted a 10,000 lb tree 100' in the air and lowered it to Dave and Marlon who sawed and chipped the tree in not time. What a crew!!!!...These were true professionals who were also a bunch of good guys and I truly enjoyed watching them work. Thanks for a great job! If you want a great job done by a great company that hires hard-working and extremely talented workers using the best equipment ... then by all means check these guys out!... You won't go wrong!

On time, professional. The crew did the work without us being present and the work was performed as stated. Part of the stump was left over but they came and promptly removed it

Everything went very smoothly, The crew arrived on time and set up all their equipment. This was quite an operation since I live on a main street and the amount of equipment needed for the removal of these extremely large trees was extensive. The crew was very professional and safety conscious and cleaned up all stray branches that fell. They left my property as it was before they came (not even a tire mark on my lawn, they put down plywood under their equipment). I was very pleased and have since had people ring my doorbell to ask about the service. I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. Their price was very competitive also.

They came with all their equipment.They took it all down. They cleaned up all the brush. It took all day.A good bunch of guys came to do the job. The price was good. Excellent job. Great email communication from start to finish and very flexible with a couple of requests. A couple of neighbors wanted some of the larger limbs left for firewood. This slows the team down, but they were not upset. No one I talked to could believe they did all of that for $3k.

The experience with them has been top-notch. The communication was really good. He offered a lot of information. He listened well to what we were saying. If we decide to do it, we will definitely go with them.

Started this project last Fall (2008.) I sent them a sketch and job description. They came out about a week later and did an estimate. Stuff happens & I put the job on the back burner till Spring. Then I added a little more to it, they came by the house again, I signed the papers and said "OK, let's do it." Job was done about 2-3 weeks after the OK. Marquis was easy to work with and schedule the actual day, I needed a week's notice to schedule a vacation day from work. All the guys on the crew were very professional and courteous. The tree work took 1/2 a day. They arrived at 8 and were gone by 12:30. Cleaned up nicely. They protected the lawn from damage from the Great Big Crane. The stumps were ground a few weeks after the trees were cut. One stump was in a tight location and the stump grinder couldn't get to it. They came back one more time to chain saw it closer to the ground; they get a gold star for the special effort on this. Big stuff - about 20 inches or more diameter that won't go in the chipper - they cut into logs about 10 - 12 feet long and put near the street to be picked up later in the day by a logging truck. The logging truck (a subcontractor) left a big divot in the lawn, about 15" x 15" by 3" deep - the only lawn damage. Not bad for a job this size. Note that the stump grinder leaves behind a LOT of wood chips & Marquis clearly tells you that. Cleaning up the wood chips is extra $$. I cleaned them up myself.

The estimate went extremely well, the guy was punctual and knowledgeable. We agreed on a price and that he would contact me as soon as we had a couple of days without rain (to avoid damaging the lawn). I didn't hear from them for 3 months! Fortunately, I wasn't in a rush - but I was surprised when they called and asked if they could come later that week. I agreed, and the team showed up promptly and got down to business. I didn't quite like their massive truck in my backyard, but they were careful not to come into contact with the house. The next day, the stump grinder showed up (I wasn't home) and took care of 2 of the stumps, but left one behind. I think it may have been becuase it was too close to another tree for him to completely grind, but it would have been nice if the company contacted me with a reason. Overall, I was satisfied with the work, a little pricey for 6 hours of work, but I would recomend them to others.

They never started the work. They couldn't even be bothered to call back when they said they would. Terrible work ethic.

Peter was very professional and gave good advice (as well as he was the only person who came out who actually knew what some of the trees were). Although their price was not the lowest (it was certainly not the highest either), we decided to go with them. They performed all the tree felling on one day and came back after about a week to grind the stumps. They warned us when we might lose plants, and advised us to move other plants that were close to trees to be felled. Some of the logs we wanted for fire wood were not fully cut through, but after a call to Peter, they came the next day to finish them off. Great job.

Peter came out and gave me an estimate. Due to weather (January) the work was delayed for a few weeks which was not a problem. The crew arrived with a crane and large chipper. They completed the work in less than a day and cleaned up when finished.

Two big trees were removed in my front and back yards. Diameter of them was about 20 inches. One tree removed is small and dead. Remove some bush in front of patio free of charge. Stump grinding for all tree removal. Overall, great job as scheduled. He left without cleaning up after all stump grinding. Just did clean-up with a blower for only one stump grinding area. They made a chunk of Maple tree for wood fire place but did not split it.

John came to give an estimate and I was not here. He called to very politely chide me for missing the appointment and just the fact that he followed up made me promise him that I would call him before we proceeded with the job. I did call and he came over and matched the best price we had got. As we had a lot of work to be done John came with the crew in the morning and explained the job. The crew worked diligently and were extremely accommodating and even cleared up some additional brush that we had lying on the yard which saved is in disposal. One small issue occurred when at the end of the day a tree we wanted cut had not been done. John had been clear that all the work we needed done could not be finished in a day so choices would need to be made but we just did not understand the extent of what this meant. The result was that the crew stayed overtime to complete the job and got it done. I then emailed John to say that we felt that the crew could have told us before the end of the day what they could do and what would be left so we could make a decision. I was stunned and impressed when less than an hour later John was in our yard checking why we were not satisfied. I have not had such a degree of professionalism from any service we have worked with. He was great and though we paid for the overtime he returned the check and only charged the originally agreed to amount

The crew had to come on two different occasions due to the weather, but they did finish the job and were very friendly. They cleaned up after themselves and I am very happy w/ the work done. The guy who ground the stumps blew off the deck and drive after he was done, cleaning not just the wood shavings, but other debris. Peter also honored the Angie's list discount AFTER giving the initial estimate, which in my opinion proves the honesty of the company. Communications were very good given that work had to be halted due to thunder storms and we had to arrange for them to come back. The guys helped put the section of fence back in place temporarily until we were able to repair it permanently. I was also very happy that Peter was able to keep the trucks off the front lawn to avoid damaging the front grass/landscaping. This meant they had to climb to take the trees down out front, but they did it relatively quickly (and were entertainment for the neighborhood to boot!). I highly recommend Marquis Tree service for their quality, pricing, friendliness, and communications.

Marquis was amazing. The sugar maple was huge and damaging our deck and roof. We live on a small street of closely spaced homes. They brought a crew with a crane and took the tree in pieces up and over my house. It was incredible to watch. They were fast, efficient and cleaned up very nicely after the work was completed. I couldn't be happier.

The entire experience was wonderful. A four man crew arrived early in the morning with a 150 foot crane, a 75 foot boom truck and a monster truck-pulled chipper. All of the trees were removed with the aid of the crane. One went over the house about 100 feet in the air. The cutting and carting away process took only four hours. One man returned the following week and ground down the stumps in the rain, without a complaint. The crew was friendly and efficient and cleaned up the work site when done.
