They came in and the guy who did the bidding was fantastic. He walked me through what was to be expected and their time line. I think they were booking a month out at that time. When the time came, they called and the guys came a little early. The guys were young and I thought that they were a little unprofessional. They weren't rude, they were just immature about the work and I thought they could have been a little more adult in the way they handled things. I have no doubt that if the older guys were around things would have been a little different but it was just the two kids. They came, did the work; it was a really hot day so I had the windows open and they were cussing at each other and being really obnoxious. I thought it was ridiculous because I have young kids and they were dropping f-bombs and I could hear it through the open windows. It was a bit ridiculous. They were immature and they were unaware. I did ask them to stop but I thought they should have been more aware of their environment. Here is the part I am struggling with: the person who came to bid the work was very clear. The only negative thing I have to say is with the people who came to do the actual work. The one tree was cut back much more aggressively than I thought it should have been. I wasn't sure whether that was something I failed to ask or if that was something that was failed to be pointed out. I felt that there was a miscommunication, I just can't tell where the blame goes. I think you should always walk through the job at the end so I know what is going on. They were clean and they didn't damage anything. There were plants under the tree that were not damaged at all. I would use them again and I think that I have more skill in what questions to ask.

Overall an excellent job and I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I was very impressed that the owner came and did the estimate. He provided answers to all questions and gave us information that allowed us to make cost benefit decisions on the spot. He told us that they would be able to do the work in 10-14 days. They called us in about 5 days and said that they could start work the following day if that was acceptable and we agreed. The 3 man crew arrived around 8:30 and worked hard until almost 5:30. At about 11:00it started to rain very hard. I think that ended up being their lunch break. After the worst of the storm passed they went right back to work. I noticed the the guy in the bucket truck did not use the chain saw if there was someone below him. He would use the timeto move the bucket. All three men were always watching each other for possible safetyproblems. All limbs were tied with a rope and lowered to the ground after being cut. I expected some damage to the yard but they kept it to a minimum. They used a leaf blower to clean up after finishing each tree, The two limbs that were promised to be removed in the initial quote turned out to be moredifficult than expected. The power line wires were in the way so the bucket truck could not get close enough. They ended up using a ladder. I give them a lot a credit for the extra effort.

Their price was very reasonable. They are very capable. They have trucks and kinds larger than others. Basically they have better equipments and good price which was good. They were prompt and they did what they said they were going to do. I have large trees like Oak trees which are very large. The only one negative thing was that they did give estimate and came when they said but when they came here the truck didn’t reach up to the mark and so there was an issue whether they could do the whole tree. There was no complaint about the people who worked but they should have brought the bigger truck which I knew that they have as they had worked for my neighbors. But they did a very good job.

I met with Peter Collins of Marquis Tree Service on November 14th, 2011 at my house. He gave me a quote on the work listed above, and then noted the Angie's List discount at the bottom of the quote. I could tell that the Marquis organization was still feeling the impact of the October snow storm. It was that same storm that finally convinced my wife and I that this maple tree had to go. It has consistently lost large branches over the past 3 years, and since our driveway and car is right below the tree, we just couldn't ignore the significant chance that the next 'tree' incident would involve the car as well. On December 5th, the crane truck arrived just before 8:00 AM. The chipper truck / trailer followed about 20 minutes or so later. At that point, equipment and people were put in place and soon the tree was being trimmed down. The trimmed of branches were all stacked rather neatly, being carefully dropped from the person cutting from the crane bucket. Once the bulk of the small branches were down, the chipper truck (a regretfully noisy machine) went to work. The crew seemed aware of the noise the chipper makes and only brought it up to speed when there was a lot of branches to work on. Otherwise, it was idled and not too bad to tolerate in the morning hours of a Monday. All of the previously fallen branches and my brush pile was chipped along with the rest of the branches, no problem. The 3 main trunks were then cut an left for Marquis pickup over the next week. Since I knew that the company was still under the burden of the October storm, I expected the logs to be there for a week, but they were done in a couple of days, and then a few days after that, the stump was chipped / ground down as promised. Everything has gone as promised and my wife and I are happy with the experience. We would use them again. One thing to consider though, that has nothing to do with Marquis itself, is that the trucks and equipment do take up a lot of space. If there is not enough room for them on your own property, then they may take up more of the public road than your local police may be willing to temporarily suffer. You may wish to consider speaking with your town police department to see if a 'detail' would be needed or if anything special is necessary from the town, especially if you don't think there's enough space for the crane, chipper trailer and truck.

I really would use them again, despite the grades. The work was terrific, in the end. Cleaned up everything. The issue seemed like time management and organization. Good people, starting with the office...easy to communicate with, friendly, etc. However, getting back to me was inconsistent. They seemed overwhelmed, despite their best intentions. The timing of the work was challenging. The October hurricane and the the nor'easter and lots of rain...delayed things, I'm sure...I just felt out of the loop. Clean up was great, but it took almost another two weeks to remove the giant logs in our front yard, remaining from the work. Again, I was told it would get picked right up the next day (but only after I came home to find them there) and it was another week. As an aside, I saw they recently did some work across the street from me...also looks great.

They came and gave us estimate. They then came on time as promised and got right to work. They even came a few days earlier to remove a potentially dangerous tree limb hanging on an electrical wire. They were terrific and they got everything plus more that we didn't even see. We were very happy with the results and the timely fashion that all the work got done. We had a lot of damage done by the October storm and they made sure that we don't have anything more trees to worry about coming down on our house.

They provided such an excellent service since I called them to get a quote. They came on time, and gave us the estimate withint 2 days as they promised. (a lot of companies don't give estimates so quickly) On the day they schduled to work on cutting the big tree (separated in to three big limbs), they arrived on time and worked very professionally. At the end of their work, they cleaned up the wood chips and our yard very clean. We were very happy with their professionality and reliability. We will definitely use them again if we need to cut more trees. The whole work was done in about 3-4 weeks, since I first called them. After 1 week or so, the bit Hurricane Irine came, so we were very happy we did it before the storm came.

A neighbor's tree branch fell into our yard causing damage and the fallen branch took up most of our backyard. I sent an email to Marquis shortly after it occurred (around 10pm that night) because Memorial Day wknd was only a few days away. They were very responsive and showed up first thing in the am the next day. The large branch was cut into smaller pieces, put in the wood chipper, and all debris was picked up. Marquis was awesome and I would definitely recommend!

I got an email saying someone would be in touch with me shortly. However, no one ever contacted me. In the original email to them I had to detail the work to be done and it's a smallish job. Guess they don't want small jobs or my money!I contacted another company, Greenleafs, and they came out right away, took 30 minutes to walk around my property and gave me a reasonable estimate. The owner, Rich, is a real scientists/arborist...knows his stuff! UPDATE: John, the owner, contacted me personally to apologize with a heartfelt and honest email. I'm sure they're a great company and I may have just encountered them at a rough time. I'll follow up with them if I want to use them in the future.

I made a appointment for an estimate and they came on time a day or so after the appointment was scheduled. I okayed the work later that day (I had another company's estimate for about $600 more than Marquis was going to charge me). Due to the extensive rainy weather we had they were delayed until May 27 to do the work. They came on time there were four men they were all professional and friendly. They went over the job with me before they started cutting the trees and if they had any other questions they asked me. I found their work to be excellent. The property was cleaned after they finished and after they were done you hardly knew you had some major tree cutting done.

Overall, it went very well. I had them come and remove 2 trees, 1 was very large, the other about 4 inch diameter, behind a garage and next to a fence that were very hard to access and that required a crane. They also removed a large tree at another location. I was pleased with the results. They cut me a deal for doing multiple projects the same day close by, so the price was very reasonable. I would use them again. I have no complaints.

A neighbor and I decided to work together to get a number of trees removed from our 2 properties. Even though we thought we had a lot of work to do, they were confident that between us all the trees could be removed in one day and were able to give us both a discount as we scheduled everything for the same day. Marquis were very prompt in supplying the original quote and gave a realistic time frame of when they'd be available. They were actually able to complete the job before they originally said they would. It was all done in a day, very quickly, efficiently and the team were really flexible, leaving us with just a few dents in the grass and some stumps. The grinder came a couple of weeks later and finished the job off. I would highly recommend this firm and would work with them again.

Very responsive, professional and reasonable. We needed to have them come out a number of times to re-estimate the job as the landscape plan itself evolved. They patiently put up with us through this process. As things dragged into autumn we all of sudden found ourselves in a panic to get everything done in time for the new plantings. Marquis responded wonderfully and had a full team out within a matter of days. The team was not only professional, with all the right equipment (including a crane that could reach about 100 feet into my backyard) but they were courteous and incredibly neat and respectful of our property. Initially we planned on removing only 13 trees but realized, after they had left from the planned job, that there was another tree that needed to be removed. I called them and they told us they'd have a crew out the following day. The quoted price was, at first, a bit of a shock but then I realized that they had to bring everyone out here and set up again as they had for the initial job. I agreed and they showed up as planned and everything went perfectly, including their grinding crew who came out a few days later. When they were finished, except for the small piles of sawdust from the stump grinding and the missing trees, there was no evidence that they had even been here! The real suprise was when I got the bill: They didn't charge me what the quote was for the additional tree but, instead, only about 1/2 the amount. That kind of responsiveness, high quality servce and caring certainly engenders praise and loyalty. I couldn't recommend Marquis more highly.

Marquis did an exceptional job removing four trees from a difficult area in our yard (very tight space between our yard and our neighbor's yard). They called me back right away when I called for an estimate. John arrived a few days later to look at the job, answer questions and provide an estimate. They responded very quickly, provided amazing customer service and had an exceptionally skilled and very professional crew who did the work in a short amount of time, safely, efficiently and were a pleasure to work with. We will use them again for any future work and will recommend them to all of our friends. Thank you Marquis!

Ended up going with another company to have the work done.

John (the owner) came to my house, took my input, and gave me a quote on the spot. That was followed by documents via email. My email address was collected upon my initial call and he already had it in his smart phone. The workers were clearly interested in making sure I was pleased with how they did the job and got my input whenever it was needed. They did nice work pruning the trees on my property despite the difficult topology of my yard. They also cleaned up very nicely after they were done. These were some of the most conscientious workers that have ever done work on my house. My neighbor will likely have some tree work done soon and I will be sure to recommend Marquis Tree Service for the job.

I contacted Marquis Tree Service because of their location and good reviews. It took about several days to get a response, and the call was from another tree Service (Mayer Tree Service) who Marquis had contacted. We never heard directly from Marquis. We did end up going with Mayer Tree Service, but in both cases I would not go with a large company again.

The woman that I originally spoke to was very pleasant and she indicated that someone would need to call me back to set up a date for them to come to my home. I did not hear from anyone for several days. I finally received a call from a different company saying that they had been referred to me by Marquis. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with the "arborist" and, even though the appointment was scheduled almost a month in advance, the new tree called me only 1 day in advance of my appointment to cancel. I am disappointed that Marquis did not call me directly to explain that they could not provide the service I was requesting and that they company that they referred to me could not be relied upon either. I don't have a lot of free time to search for service providers and this experience was frustrating to say the least.
