We didn't end up going with them. I Thought they were very formulaic, they stuck to a script, they were fairly negative about other options. I thought they were arrogant and somewhat impersonal. They're probably capable and they were more expensive than the alternative that we eventually found. But they have a good reputation.

These guys were great. Quote was clear. Time was accurate. The team was on time, organized and neat. Cleaned up after themselves. This is a messy job for anyone - jack hammering out the basement floor, removing dirt/clay, installing PVC piping and crushed stone and topping off with fresh concrete. They did a good job keeping everything as neat as possible including tarping off items that were stored. They also did a few things not even on the the list. Completed the project on schedule (3 days).
Description of Work: Installed interior french drain, dug sump hole, installed 2 Bosch pumps and connected to exterior drain system.

Ok, i waited a full year to write this review, because you never really know if your basement is waterproofed unless you see what happens (hope I do not jinx it now). But this was a great experience. Like others, I had the painful problem of constant basement leakages and flooding. Whenever it rained, I never knew if I was going to go down to my basement, and spend my morning cleaning up the mess. It was a real nightmare. We (finally) waterproofed. we had 3 quotes. My only problem was that B-Dry was a lot higher than the 2 other quotes I got, and I seriously considered going with the other guys -- they seemed to be describing the same thing. But B-Dry has a better reputation, reviews, and seemed strong about standing by their guarantee. They came out and did the work over about 2 days. It was a big project -- imagine someone with a jackhammer digging up the perimiter of your basement. But it was over fast, and they left a clean result. I had the basement painted, and its back to normal. lMy only recommendation is to ask where they are going to put the valves for cleaning. They put one right at the bottom of my stairs in a highly visible spot, so not I have to cover it with a rug. They seemed a bit less concerned overall with the "look" of their work (like the impact on how it will look in the room, not the quality), but they took my direction. Overall great, works, so glad I did it, would highly recommend to anyone who is going through the same nightmare scenario of cleaning water up after it rains. In this regard, probably the best money I have spent on my house so far.

I've had everything from my basement upstairs waiting to see if it didn't work and I'm pleased to tel you my basement is totally dry. We bought this house when it was brand new and have had water problems all along. I'm happy to say they solved the problem. I'm so grateful. They cleaned up and swept the sidewalk in front of my house. They did an amazing job. Years ago when I first moved in they put B-Dry segments in the back because we thought that's where the problem was coming from, it took care of the issues for a while. I developed cracks in the side of the all in the basement. Water came in from everywhere. It wasn't catastrophic. I finally called them back and they did an amazing job. I couldn't be more happy with the results. They were here for 2 days. They jack hammered the perimeter of my basement. They out in the crushed rock, perforated pipe and more crushed rock then sealed it. They tried to keep as much of the cement out as they could, you can't keep it all out but they did the best they could. It's all their own employees, they were very professional and I was impressed. I was pleased years ago and they were just as good this time. I have the complete B-Dry system in and it's guaranteed for the life of the house. When I sell my house the guarantee goes with it. I've recommended them to many people with water problems.

The experience that I had with this company was great. When the gentleman came out to give me the estimate he was a little on the gruff side but he was good at what he does. He took a hard look around and told me what I would need right up front. We talked about the best place to release the water from the sump pump. Where I thought it could go, he immediately recognized that it was not a good idea. He explained that if it emptied into the driveway, it could freeze and become a hazard. The company came out on the day and time they said they would. It took them only two days to do the work. The guys were punctual, courteous, and professional. The work looks great. The true water proofing test will come next fall and spring during the rainy and melting seasons.
Description of Work: The company put in a french drain around the interior perimeter of the basement. The water collects into a sump pump and empties through the wall to the outside.

They came on schedule and did a good job. It is now a year later and we have had no flooding despite heavy rains. We had gotten estimates from three A rated companies. The first company was so busy they sent an inexperienced estimator that gave us a real high estimate for the drains. He said handling the door would be an additional project at additional cost. Another company gave us an estimate but said they would not take care of the door issue. They suggested I connect the door to their drain system myself, but they would not do it. They also wanted me to remove all of the paneling in the basement room myself before they could work. B-Dry took care of everything (without removing the paneling) and at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: They installed a drain system and a sump pump with battery backup system. They also took care of a flooding problem at a ground floor door by connecting an outdoor drain to the internal drain system.

I called these people 3 times to get an estimate for a basement problem. the first two calls got no call back response. The third call someone named Ralph called me back to make an appointment I found out he had a golf game to make and then he said we had a bad phone connection and he would call me back. That was a mounth ago and I'm still waiting. Even if they did call back there is no way I would ever use them.

BDry reps were responsive from the first phone call. The appointment was set up and they kept to that schedule arriving promptly on the day of installation. They answered all my questions and continued to communicate throughout the entire process. They were very organized and neat. Surprising given the kind of work involved (drilling, removing, concrete). I would do business with the company again and will continue to contract with them around servicing my new system.

OMG where to start with B-Dry. Basically, their system worked GREAT. 100% satisfied on that front. We had water in our old house in a big way - where we couldn't even keep up with the shop vac. We were filling the shop vac 15-20 times a day. Anyway, they came in spring of 1999 and did their thing, then tried to charge us twice for a piece of the work (a long story of confusion between what the office said and what the installers said). We went to the BBB. The result of arbitration was that we would split the difference, essentially. So I waited for a bill from B-Dry, never got one, never heard from them again, until 10 years later when we went to sell the house, tried to transfer the warranty and they told us there was no warranty because there was a balance due. They wound up giving out our personal information and TELLING OUR BUYERS the whole situation, including that there was a balance due. So we grudgingly paid the remainder so that we could get the warranty to transfer to the buyers (this was in November 2009). During the selling process, we VERY reluctantly had B-Dry come back because the buyers wanted to understand the system better, and had requested that a second crack be repaired. While the technician was there, he indicated to us that B-Dry "could also take care of radon", implying they could mitigate the radon (our buyers had requested radon mitigation after a radon test came back positive). After the radon lid was installed, we discovered in the fine print (that they gave us AFTER installation and payment) that what they had done was not a true radon mitigation system. The sale of our house almost didn't go through because of this, and we wound up not only paying $200 to B-Dry for an unneccessary radon cover, but had to give back $1000 at closing to our buyers so they could have a true mitigation system installed. So.....I'd say that B-Dry was great in that they solved our water issues, but if you decide to go with them, watch them like a HAWK and get not just the details on their little quote thing, but get a breakdown of every piece of every bit of work they do. I wouldn't trust them one bit as far as billing. One of the office people actually said to me "well, a lot of our guys don't really speak English that well" as an excuse for the initial problem we had! I didn't find their employees to be incompetent in English, just math! ;)
Description of Work: First, B-Dry did their basement waterproofing system for us. Installed a drain pump underneath our basement floor, a sump pump, a drainage pipe outside, and repaired two foundation cracks. Second, B-Dry installed a radon lid when we discovered we had radon as we were selling the house. The technician indicated to us that they "could take care of radon", implying they could mitigate the radon. After the lid was installed, we discovered in the fine print (that they gave us AFTER installation and payment) that what they had done was not a true radon mitigation system. We almost lost our buyers because of this.

Response from B-Dry System M/E Inc
On 2/15/01 B-Dry System installed a partial system (36'). The contract amount was $3,150, but we did not bury the discharge line credited $540 and did not do feeder line as it was not needed credited $300. Job total was $2,292 done and paid. June 22, 2001 You had us return to bury the discharge line at cost of $540 and to do 4' of additional system at cost of $300.00 totaling $840. You still owed $292 from original job therefore your balance die was $1,132. We did not charge twice for anything. You requested we remove some rigid sealer so the buyer could inspect the crack which we did on 11/10/09 at no charge. On 12/10/09 at your request, we returned to repair a crack with rigid sealer and install a radon lid which we did for a total of $500. No one at the office discussed your radon issue, as we do not do radon. We just sell radon lids to cover our sumps when requested. Our installers' English is not perfect, but they would not suggest our doing radon mitigation as they have never done this while in our employ. We had no contact with your buyers until after they took possession of the house when they called around February 18, 2010 and asked us questions about the system and the pumps at which time he was told that he has a partial system and that the pump is 9 years old and should be checked periodically.

All I have to say is that they did an excellent job from the initial visit as well as when the actual work was done. Bill and Jackie answered all my questions and concerns between the inspection visit and the day the process began. Luis and his team were here on time and worked all day and kept me up to date on the progress of the job the entire time. They took care not to disturb any of my belongings either in my cellar or around my house. They did the job in the time that they said and made sure that they left the house super clean. They even went as far as sweeping up my sidewalk and driveway on the cold February day that they were here. All I have to say is that my cellar is dry and the pump is working. I can now look forward to a dry cellar in the spring.

When things go wrong, you want to be working with folks like Bill Clayton! This was supposed to be a simple job. Someone made a mistake, but B-Dry did the right thing right away and turned a disaster into just an inconvenience. We found them through Angies List. Bill Clayton met me to inspect our basement - was super informative and knowledgeable, and gave me a written proposal on the spot. We had a short window when we would have the basement mostly empty of stuff and he was confident he could get the work done in that window. His proposal was not the cheapest, but it was the most comprehensive and meeting him and reading about B-Dry I was most comfortable working with someone who could fix the problem properly and would stand behind their work. He pointed out that they've been in business for some sixty years under the same name, which was very persuasive to me and meant to me that I could rely on their warranty and their work. These were important selling points in convincing our co-owners to proceed with this expensive project. We were pretty nervous about jack-hammering in our basement - nervous about our foundation walls which were over 100 years old, and nervous about a very expensive and finniky boiler of our condo co-owners. All vendors we interviewed assured us the foundation would be safe despite its age, and B-Dry was confident they could tunnel under the boiler safely. When we were still nervous about the boiler they worked with us to find a way to avoid jack-hammering too close to it. Boy am I glad we chose B-Dry instead of some of the other options!!! During the first morning of work they accidentally broke our sewer pipe (which was probably also 100+ years old) while digging their trench. I believe it was the mistakes of a single employee that caused the problem, but I was grateful we had chosen B-Dry because Bill immediately stepped up and handled it professionally and completely! He immediately got a plumber in to look at the damage and find a solution and took care of everything. What was turning into a complete nightmare was significantly eased by B-Dry's immediate response of bringing in exactly the right highly competent people who solved the problem on an emergency basis. They made temporary arrangements so that we could keep using water for all but limited downtime. And while they had to dig up our front yard and replace the sewer out into our yard, they made sure it was done quickly and with as little impact on us as possible. I was very impressed and relieved by the response. As for the basement work, it was done beautifully. When they were finished the crew tested and fixed until it was perfect. They left the space clean and neat. Other than one stray worker who I blame for this disaster, this company completely earned my highest endorsement.
Description of Work: Installed perimeter drain around basement interior and dual sump pumps to stop water coming up through the floor. They dug up a trench around the perimeter, working with us to address our nervousness about digging next to a 100+ year old foundation and fancy/finniky/expensive new boiler. When things went wrong, which they really did, they immediately brought in an emergency crew to completely fix the problem - which included some pretty serious emergency plumbing work to our sewer pipe out to the front yard. B-Dry completely handled the situation in the most professional and responsible manner and made what would have been a complete nightmare just an inconvenience. When things went wrong I was VERY relieved we had chosen B-Dry for this work! And they finished the original work beautifully and would not leave until it was perfect.

The estimator rearranged his schedule to come earlier than we'd originally scheduled due to the fact that we were getting more and more water in the basement. Though the original proposal was to do the entire basement, he was willing to spend several phone calls with me to discuss various options that would allow us to do part of the basement and then wait to see if the other part of the basement needed it. I also asked for a good deal of detail about the technicalities of the system versus a leading competitor. The service was scheduled several weeks out but B Dry called to see if we were interested in taking an early appointment when something opened up. The crew was prompt and professional. They worked until about 6:30pm to done in one day and they even extended the drain just a bit past where it was supposed to end to give more coverage and allow us to have a clean-out in the unfinished part rather than the finished part of the basement. It's been one wet month and so far so good. My only complaint is that it took B Dry a while to realize that the french drain we already had in part of the basement was originally a B Dry system. We are new to the house and did not know the history. Once we discovered that, we were told that work on that portion would indeed be under warranty.
Description of Work: B Dry came to repair and extend our current french drain system in the basement.

I called him up and he came right away. He drew a diagram of the basement and measured everything. The diagram was amazing. After he was done he sat down with me and went through exactly what they would do and how it was all done and where they would drill. They told me that it would take several months. Then he put me on the list. They called me three days before their date and told me that they were coming. They showed up when they said they would. They completely wrapped my basement so that nothing would leak upstairs. They worked like fiends. It took two days because they have to drill through concrete. They were really nice. It was beautiful when they were done. They did everything they said they would do.

The rep came out right away & gave me an estimate for the job the day he came out. After I hired the company & gave my deposit I set up time for the job to be done. The workmen came out the day & time promised & even though there was a big snowstorm during that day (Dec. 31) they were there from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. when the job was finished. They cleaned up very nicely & did the job as promised. My only complaint was the head guy on the job (who was extremely nice) had limited English so it was difficult to ask questions & get answers - I could call the company to ask the questions but obviously it would be preferable to ask the person doing the job about certain specifics. Overall, I highly recommend B-Dry Systems. Within 2 weeks from when I 1st called the company for an estimate, I had the rep come out, got an estimate, hired the company, & had the job completed.

Over the phone the company indicated that they do not work in crawl spaces for safety reasons. They arranged for someone to come and do an estimate in a timely manner. The gentleman who came to do the estimate indicated that they could install a sump pump in the utility area but that there was no legal way to discharge the water. He overall projected an attitude of not being very interested in the job. Since another contractor actively worked to propose a solution for both the utility area and the crawl space I did not follow up with this vendor (I will submit a report for the other vendor once the work is done).
Description of Work: Requested an estimate for installing a sump pump in a lowered area in a utility closet and a drain in a crawl space (not quite tall enough for the average person to stand in).

Overall, the job went very well; I believe it could not have gone better. B-Dry had a tough job to do and the crew were very professional and knowledgeable. I liked the crew members and we got along well. They were willing to explain to me what they were doing, and to show me the progress in each step of their process. We have not had a drop of water leakage into the basement since they installed their excellent system. It was a difficult job because our house sits on a lot of ledge, and they had to keep drilling until they could go deep enough to install the drainpipes.
Description of Work: B-Dry came to our house to waterproof our basement. We had been having water leak into our basement, and B-Dry came and installed a drain system underneath the basement floor, relocated the sump hole, installed 2 sump pumps (1 regular and 1 backup pump), and installed a hose to direct the sump water out of the basement.

My initial call was immediately returned the same day. An appointment was set up. Bill Clayton showed up 15 minutes early, took only 15 minutes to make a recommendation and detailed estimate of the work with cost. When I called to schedule the work I found that it was possible to get installation two days later (I think I was lucky here). They took a $500 deposit, $400 before starting work, and $500 upon completion. The crew (Pasqual and two helpers) arrived on time, started work immediately, and finished in two hours. They consulted with me as they worked (where do you want the pump located?, where do you want the water drained to?, what do you want to do with your old pump?). The place was neat and clean after the job. This was two days before hurricane/storm Hanna came roaring through, giving the pump a fine test. It was so nice to find the basement totally dry, after my previous misadventures with big rainstorms.
Description of Work: Installed a sump pump after removing an old sump pump that was inadequate to keep the basement dry. The new pump was installed after digging a deeper hole in the basement for the pump. A hole was drilled in the basement wall for the water pipe outlet. Previously the water had been pumped into the drain to the sewer, which was a violation of town code.

Crew arrived on schedule and finished work in two days. No interaction with crew after arrival, but foreman spoke good English and answered my questions. Covered items in basement to protect from dust, and cleaned up after work done. Haven't had a chance to test effectiveness of system yet - flooding usually occurs in Spring.
Description of Work: Installed French drain around perimeter of basement and sump pumps.
