Description of Work: Because of Angie's List and their reviews, I used Ground Care Landscaping to do a big job I had in the back yard. The team of 4 that came the first day, for approx. 1 hour was fine. Then it rained. On Friday, came a team of 3, with the same lead foreman - he is excellent. What I have for my gripe is with their price quotes and lack of protocol in giving me the breakdown of what I was charged for. Every person who worked on the lawn, is a $55/hr employee. Plus there is a $50 dump fee(that's fair) Then there is a charge of them coming from North Andover to my house, how much, I don't know. For the 2nd day, did I get charged another dump fee and another getting from here to there charge? Don't know. Plus I gave them price of $1,000. Because I had mentioned a possibility of $1,500, I had to give them upfront 60% of $1,500. Because of these issues, I stopped them at $1,000 and will use another landscaper instead to finish. The work was OK, there was a lot to do, but it wasn't overly spectacular. Probably won't use them again. Sorry, I believed the reviews and Angie's List, won't do that again either.

+ -1 moreI called and they called me back right away and scheduled an appointment for the estimate. Aaron came on time and was kind and professional. I scheduled the work. I have 1 11/2 acres and have a lot of trees. Two men came on time and blew the leaves to the side and back yard as I wanted. There were a lot of brush piles from the spring to clear my back yard. They filled their big truck and took it all away. It took them 5 hours and my yard looks great. I plan to have them back in the spring to clean up again and do some landscaping.

+ 0 moreOur first time with GC Landscaping. Gregory was great to work with, immediately responding to our request for a quote and specific project date. We made some changes to the scope of work before the project began, and Gregory returned revised quotes in a flash. Also, he made absolutely sure we were on the same page about outcome expectations. The GC crew was able to start work a day early and completed the project smoothly and exactly to our specifications, and the new expanse of lawn looks great ! The only negative: GC had offered a $100 discount on Angie's List for first time landscape/hard scape clients, and GC refused to give us the discount. We appreciate that their prices are reasonable, but it would have been smarter customer relations to offer the discount.
Description of Work: Removed plant material, small tree, masonry, and soil from raised garden bed approx 300 Sq.ft., leveled the ground, moved irrigation heads, added loam and grass seed.

We agreed on a flat rate for mowing the lawn on a regular basis and also discussed general yard cleanup. Greg was willing to work with our condo association budget and his team showed up the following Friday and did an excellent job, actually slightly exceeding our budgeted hours at no charge. We are happy to have engaged this company's services.

+ -1 moreGreg responded within hours of my email. He provided his cell phone number and was willing to meet me after work (I commute to Boston). Greg walked with me and was very attentive to what I wanted. Work commenced the following week and took 22.5 hours over two days. The price was below the estimated cost ;-)
Description of Work: Between the freak October storm of 2011 and the early spring of 2012, my shrubs were a mess. The early spring promoted much growth to the point it was taking over the yard and the public sidewalk. I had GC Landscaping trim and shape my shrubs, trim and clean out broken limbs and remove plants that decided to root - where they weren't welcomed. In addition, I had two pine trees that had barren limbs going 9 feet high. These were trimmed back providing move yard. Of course all the debris was taken away and the yard cleaned.

+ 2 moreMy wife and I could not be happier that we chose to work with GC Landscaping. Greg and Jason, and the rest of the crew, were just great to work with, always pleasant and professional during every phase of the job. We did make some alterations to the plans as we went along and Greg accommodated all of our requests, at very fair price modifications. The meticulous quality of their work resulted in a beautiful new poolside backyard for us.
Description of Work: We had a landscape design plan drawn up by the designer at Landscaper's Depot in Kingston, NH. We asked them for referrals of qualified contractors. We received estimates from 3 contractors and chose to do business with GC Landscaping. His price was the best, but more importantly, was the sense of character I felt with Greg. I could tell that he was a man of his words, with good integrity. The majority of the work consisted of: a 55' by 18" high blue/grey colonial retaining wall, 72' of similar planting bed walls, 500 sq ft of travertine stone patio, 2240 sq ft of sod lawn and 100+ ft of cobble stone borders. Greg put his best mason, named Jason, on the job and Jason turned out to be fantastic. The walls he and Greg built look better than any similar style walls that I have ever seen. Jason laid out several pallets of stones and hand picked each and every stone for it's best fit in the wall. His effort resulted in a gorgeous wall. He also took great precaution to avoid damaging our new exposed aggregate patio that the retaining wall was built around and he thoroughly cleaned up the work area at the end of each day. The travertine stone patio is another work of their art. It was a difficult stone to work with, but it came out beautiful with a long sweeping curve cut into it. The sod lawn came out perfect and Greg instructed me on the maintenance required to make sure it rooted itself properly, which it did.

+ -1 moreWe began working with a landscape architect on a large project for our backyard. The yard is small and in very tight quarters and we had two very large silver maples, one diseased and one healthy. We had considered removing both trees and our landscape contracter recommend Greg. Greg came over in the evening (in order to accomodate my work schedule) and looked at the trees. He gave me an estimate but recommended that if I took the trees out, he would recommend pulling out the stumps in order to preserve the long term level of my small backyard. He advised that he wouldn't be the best to do this work but put me in touch with a few other names who might be able to do the work. A month later I hadn't had any luck in finding someone to do this, so I called Greg again. We decided that only the diseased tree would need to go and that I could live with maintaining any sink hole that might develop in 10-15 years. My entire project was on hold awaiting the removal of the trees, so I needed Greg to be able to come in take away the tree and stump as soon as possible. Greg came through, big time, and the tree and stump were gone within the week and, were it not for a huge missing tree, I would have never even noticed that his crew had been there.
Description of Work: GC Tree Service removed a large silver maple from my backyard. He also sub-contracted a stump grinder to come a grin down the stump.
