We were very impressed with Ron and his team. Ron was very responsive starting with our initial contact and estimate. He provided several different estimates so we could decide the work we wanted to perform at this time. The new walkway and lawn look great! His team was very professional, courteous and diligent. We will definitely recommend Ron and his team to others!

I had a mixed experience with Narrow Lane. In August of 2012, we signed a contract with them for various services on our yard (spring and fall clean up, mulching, lawn maintenance, pruning etc). I was quite impressed with their responsiveness in responding to a request for a quote and working with our budget to win the deal. We were happy with the work they did for us last year which included fall cleanup, pruning and lawn maintenance. We saw a marked difference in their quality of work and responsiveness this year; A few examples: 1. The mulch they put down was low quality. In fact, we only realized that we had fresh mulch when we got the invoice. When I brought it up with the owner he said he looked at it and thoght it “looked great”. Another contractor we engaged when we moved on from Narrow Lane gave us a quote for mulching because "it didn't look like you did it this year". 2. They removed a firebush for us but didn’t grind down the stumps. We now we have the firebush coming back again. Oops. We are now spending more to finish the job. 3. We asked for a quote to plant a perennial garden in the back where the firebush was. The owner came by to take a look and we never heard back from him. 4. When we signed the original contract, I set the expectation with the owner that I would likely mow my own lawn and use them only for lawn maintenance. He was fine with it at the time and even this year. But somehow, in April, the rules changed and you had to sign up for their mowing services for them to do lawn maintenance. I switched. I’ve found other companies I’m much happier with (they’re on Angie’s list) and wish I had moved earlier.

It went fantastic! Ron, the owner, is a complete professional. He and his workers did a fantastic job, high quality work. All my neighbors complemented the work done and how the company completed the work! The work was in Somerville on a busy narrow street but they pulled it off beautifully. I would hire the company again and suggest others give Ron a call if they have complex landscaping needs.

The service has been excellent. They were very creative. They did an excellent job at planning and cleaning up. I would highly recommend them.

We soon found out that Narrow Lane was way beyond our budget. But instead of leaving, Ron graciously offered to walk around the yard and give us pointers on what we could do within our budget. He did offer to come back and redo our front wall (it NEEDS it!). He was great! We would love to work with narrow lane in the future.

We wanted to upgrade our backyard (landscaping project). We invited 3 contractors to give us an estimate and a plan of work. Ron, the owner of Narrow Lane, was one of them. He told us that he charges 300$ for providing a plan. The fee is refundable only if hired. We asked all contractors for a plan/estimate including Ron because we thought that he was knowledgeable and professional. Even though there was some delay and a few misunderstandings on the details of the plan that my wife wanted we liked the final plan and the cost estimate that Ron gave us and ended up hiring Narrow Lane. The work started one day later than scheduled because the week before the weather was rainy and Ron's prior commitments were delayed. This was understandable. The work finished within a week (on schedule) and the quality was great. His crew showed up on time every time and cleaned up everything after the project was done. Ron stopped by every day to check the progress and address our concerns, completed some additional work on the downspouts we asked him to do (with very reasonable additional cost) and at the end provided with plenty of information on how to maintain our newly installed lawn and patio. He also provided suggestions for planting flowers/trees/bushes. I would definitely recommend Narrow Lane for any landscaping type of work.

Ron was immediately responsive to our inquiry and we set up a time for him to come by and look at the yard. The yard was in pretty bad shape (weds and bare spots) and had not been mowed in a couple of weeks. Accordingly, we were interested in both a long term plan and weekly mowing and trimming just to keep it under control. With minimal follow up, we got a quote quickly, and Ron explained the various services he was quoting, why they were necessary, and when we would want them done. Ron was very honest with us that there wasn't much he could do for our longer term lawn goals in the near term given the season/time of year, and gave us some options for the fall that we'll explore further with him later this year. We ended up having to do the first major trim ourselves since the company was backed up due to rain and we'd reached the point where it was just too out of control. However, as soon as we got the contract in place, the team was over on the first promised date, did a nice job, and was in and out quickly. They've been back reliably ever since and the price seems very competitive and well worth it to not have to worry about the lawn at all.

They were very good, responsive and professional. The quality of the work was good. The owner is very nice, the value provided and also let you choose what you want.

Ron's team did a terrific job! The design was beautiful. The price was competitive. The work exceeded our expectation in spite of the high expectations we already had.

Ron at The Narrow Lane is fabulous! He responded almost immediately to my email and came out to provide a quote at a time that fit my schedule. He then provided the quickest and least expensive quote. Once we signed the quote he moved forward with the work within 2 weeks, as soon as he felt the weather was right for a spring re-seeding. His crew came one morning and did a great job! The crew dug up all the old grass/weeds/etc and then reseeded, graded and added fertilizer. They set up the yard with sprinklers and a timer and 8 weeks later we have the most beautiful back yard full of lush, thick grass. We were a little nervous after ~3 weeks because the new grass seemed thin and spotty, but we were patient and gave it another 3-4 weeks and it is now thick and lush. We have lots of ideas about doing work on our front yard and when our budget is ready, Ron and The Narrow Lane will be doing it for us! Thanks for giving my kids a beautiful lawn to play on!

Ron was very helpful brainstorming what we could do and still keep within our budget. We went with asphalt for the flexibility it gave us and he never tried to push the more expensive alternatives (pavers, brick or cobblestones). His estimate came in only days after our meeting, and he was very patient with questions I had trying to make the most of a tight parking situation. The workmen who came on day one started on a Friday afternoon while we were at work, and they kept working late until their part of the job was done. The asphalt came right on time the second day, in the early morning, and they were fast and efficient doing their part. All of the crew handled the equipment and materials with precision and care, and we would definitely use this company again!

We've had our fair share of unresponsive landscape companies and I came across Ron/Narrow Lane on Angie's List. I decided to give it a try. Ron was very polite and friendly and I was up front about the past challenges I had and was looking for someone reliable and responsive. He was true to his word when we determined a meeting time and he showed up and was on time. We discussed the project, three weeks later he provided a plan. He was great about the revisions we wanted to make and came back quickly with an updated plan and new estimates. We added to the project and he was great about that. Two weeks later Narrow Lane showed up to start the project. Once again, on time and very hard workers. Ron came by frequently to check on progress and ensure that we were happy with it. He easily made revisions along the way with where wanted certain things or didn't. The project was complete in two weeks. Ron was very responsive with emails and calls. Very service oriented and we appreciated that because we are all busy and it just helps so much when folks just do what they say they are going to do. We highly recommend Narrow Lane and would definitely use them again for a project. Well done!

We are very pleased in dealing with Ron on both projects. As far as the lighting project was concerned, he contacted us right away. We met shortly thereafter and discussed options for the lighting. I loved that he wasn't trying to "upsell", but was being straight ahead with what was reasonable. He managed to find a window in January where the weather was appropriate to install the lights. They looked just great. There was only one little snag. He had installed Halogen MR16's and not the LED's that were advertised. I brought this to his attention, and without any hesitation, he installed several different LED lights for us to chose from. We picked the ones we liked, he ordered them, and then installed them. As far as the landscape design went, we met several times, exchanged ideas, and he came up with a wonderful plan. It is too pricey for us to do all at once, but we feel that, over time, as we can afford it, his concepts will really create a wonderful landscape plan for our home. A very professional, and personable individual. We hope to work with him in the future.

Our backyard was a disaster! Weeds and crabgrass had won the battle. Ron and the Narrow Lane crew worked so hard to transform an ugly embarrassing mess into a lawn worthy of games, recreation and just summer enjoyment. Ron is conscientious and attentive. He gave us a fair price and his crew worked so hard. We have asked Ron to continue servicing our property and we look forward to seeing him again this year.

The owner,Ron and his crew exceeded our expectations from the first time we spoke about the project. Our yard had seen years of neglect by the previous owners. While efficient and diligent, Ron's crew was very responsive and pleasant to work with. The whole yard only took a half of a day. Ron returned several times within the month to make sure it was being properly watered and taking root. My neighbor made a point of telling me that she was impressed with how hardworking and efficient the crew was. The final product was exactly as we had envisioned, and our inspection of the work confirmed that it was professionally done. I would highly recommend The Narrow Lane.

My two properties h different snow removal requirements. The company I had been using was very unreliable.I found Ron Goode of Narrow Lane Landscaping Co. on Angie's list and called him. He was unbelievably responsive. He checked out the properties almost immediately, reviewed the work to be done with me and I gave him the job. The work he did was immediate and excellent. I will certainly contiinue to use him in the future. I would recommend him to anyone. Also, I will discuss my landscape needs with him when this winter ends.

The Owner said he would be by later during the week to look at the tree. I did not hear back from him. I called him a week or two later. He apologized and said he would be by. He came by a day or two later & told me the Juniper should come out. I asked for a quote for the removal and to replace it with either another Juniper or another type bush/shrub. He asked me to send him some photos of the other bush/shrub that already was there.. I was going to send them right away but I was interrupted and didn't get to it until a week later. After I texted all the photos along with a message reminding him who I was and what I was looking to have done, I never heard back from him. Narrow Lane scored very well in reviews from previous customers, so I'm not sure what happened. I'm hoping it was just a fluke. As long as the other reviews were good, I probably would try calling them again the next time I needed landscaping done.

From the onset, Ron was responsive. Each time we spoke, he thanked me for taking advantage of Angie's Deal. We made an initial appointment and met at the site. Additional lighting to accomdate a sitting area and patio area was added. Very thorough in explanation; polite; and follow through is terrific. The original offer stated that the lighting installation would take place in Spring. With the extended warm weather, the lighting, including additional request, was installed in less than a week. Coming home that evening, I was thrilled to see the lighting in the yard. Ron followed up with a phone call to ask how I liked the lighting and thanked me again I plan on checking back in the Spring for more lighting.

Ron and his team at the Narrow Lane came into a very difficult situation due to the failures of a previous contractor who left the job incomplete. Suffice it to say that we had an incomplete yard project that we had been left without resolution from the previous contractor since January of 2012. We were very familiar with Ron due to his work on clean-up projects (Spring and Fall) at our home and he was one of the 7 companies that bid for the original work that we awarded to another contractor. That original award included the creation of 100' retaining wall made from pre-cast concrete that in most places was over 6' high. Ron's team took about 5 weeks to complete the project. There were a number of changes that we asked Ron to make to the contract based on how the plans took shape vs our original vision. In every change request, Ron was patient and understanding and his team executed on these quite well. For my wife and I, Ron really gave us peace of mind after dealing with a contractor who was unscrupulous and left our property looking like a moonscape. He understood why we wanted a fenced in area for our toddler soon and offered some suggestions that gave the yard a better feel and look. For example, while they preparing the ground for the patio, Ron suggested putting down piping for lighting that could be installed at a later date. In the end we decided to add a number of lights that gave us better use of the space in the evenings. One of the key items that I continued to notice with Ron was that he would be on the site at least every other day and his staff was punctual each morning. They worked some days in the rain as well when they were finalizing some of the stone work on the wall along the street. At the conclusion of each day they swept both the work area and the area on the street in order to leave the space clean. I would recommend Ron's team to any of my neighbors. He gets "it." The "it" I am referring to is customer service, customer value, and delivering a product that a person can be proud of. My only regret is the money, time, and stress wasted by me not picking the correct contractor at the beginning of the project. Fortunately, Ron and his team at the Narrow Lane provided our family with a yard and landscape that we can enjoy for years down the line.

We were only in our new home a few short weeks and knew we needed to get some basic sprucing up done, as well as having someone create a sort of "blank slate" for us to be able to start gardening ourselves in our small front yard. The Narrow Lane was the first company of several to reply promptly and come out for an estimate. The written estimate itself was clear and fair, and they've been a pleasure to work with. The biweekly maintenance is insanely efficient. Even though one transplanted hydrangea didn't make it, and the fern they removed is back with a vengeance, they did a great job of pruning, thatch removal and a thorough clean-up. When we're ready to give the backyard a more serious facelift, we'll definitely be calling up these guys to helm the project!
