Interacting with Tess was a pleasure! She was prompt in replying to all my queries. On the day of our consultation, she was punctual and very pleasant to talk to. We already had some colors in mind when I spoke to her and she was very open to our likes and dislikes. She gently nudged me away from some of our "heavier" color choices but helped us find the right hues of the colors that we liked. We hope to have the painting completed in a few weeks and will have a better idea then of how the color scheme works in our house. Nevertheless, I feel confident that it is going to look great and I would readily hire Tess again for my design needs!

I felt like Tess quickly picked up on my design tastes. She was very detailed. She left everything in writing for me which was wonderful. I liked that she brought paint samples and fabric swatches. As for the furniture/rugs/lighting, we searched online together, and she gave me several options that would work in different price ranges. I like that she does not work for a furniture store, and yet knows the ins and outs of all the furniture stores around the Boston area and online. I painted the room the color she suggested, as well as bought the couch and rug she suggested. I couldn't be more pleased. There is no way I could have pulled this off by myself. I have referred her to friends and am definitely going to use her on an upcoming house project.

It was great! She was really prompt and friendly. I didn’t know anything about what I wanted and she made it easy. I get compliments on the colors she picked all the time.

Tess is amazing. She has great taste and listens to what the client wants. She is patient, thorough, and talented. I plan on using her for our whole house. I would give her an enthusiastic thumbs up and I would recommend her to anyone!!

Tess was fantastic! I had a hard time knowing where to start to choose paint colors for my new home and she guided me with assuredness and expertise. She has a gentle, fun way of reading her clients and wanting to understand the effect they are aiming for and put her phenomenal color sense to work for them. My home now looks unbelievable: bright, clean, and sophisticated, largely due to the paint colors Tess helped me choose. I have actually received many compliments specifically about the flow of color and light in my home and I credit Tess. I found her so helpful I asked her to come back once the painting was finished in order to give me some guidance about furnishings and lighting. Agin, her help was invaluable. I have a specific sense of style but not the experience or knowledge to execute it well. Tess narrowed a dizzying array of choices to a few that reflected my sense of style and thatI could consider easily. I find her understanding of color and design both sophisticated and accessible, and I give her my most enthusiastic recommendation.

Tess was, in a word, amazing. I am a diehard cheapskate by nature and already have some amateur decorating skills (or so I'd like to believe), so I'd never have expected to pay someone to do something I figured I could do reasonably well myself. But given that we moved into a space we plan to occupy for a very long time, and given how much I agonize over decorating decisions on my own (and end up making mistakes), I really did see how maybe having Tess's expertise could save me time and money. She came on time of course, and we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. She was extremely patient when my husband needed terms like "valence" and "microfiber" defined for him. She struck such a perfect balance between eliciting our opinions and sharing her own expertise. My husband and I kept disagreeing with each other and changing our minds, but the indecision somehow never seemed to bother her. It was such a gift to be able to pick her brain about little details--exact dimensions for drapes, exact art placement and frame style, different upholstery fabric options--and to get all my decorating questions answered in one day. And she pointed me in all sorts of helpful directions for resources for furniture, lighting, drapes, etc. that were consistent with our budget. So all in all, I'm totally sold. I can't wait to implement the plan. I feel like I've just saved myself tons of time and money over the long run. I hope I didn't drive Tess too insane because I can't wait to hire her for my next room redesign!

Tess has a wonderful manner -- respectful, open, not too pushy but great advice. Even though we didn't end up using all of her exact choices, it really helped get us motivated and excited to do our project. The only thing I wish is that we had known beforehand that we should have chosen one piece in the room that was the basis of the vision. Since we didn't really have that we had to make a quick decision about a rug online that was the foundation of all of our decisions. After Tess left, we decided on another rug so we were back at square one. I'm not sure if we misunderstood how it worked or the communication wasn't clear, but that's the only warning I'd have for others. In all other ways the experience was perfect and exactly what we were looking for!

Working with Tess was fabulous from start to finish. She understood my style, and she made the experience fun in addition to doing a TON of work. She was an inspiration, and she helped turn our house into a home. I can't recommend her enough!

I always thought an interior designer was just for those with large piles of money, but now I understand how hiring Tess actually saved us money AND made our bedroom look better than we ever could have after years of trial and error on our own. Before she came we had already picked out a bedroom set that we really liked but was a financial stretch for us. Tess immediately came to the conclusion that although the set was nice, the things we liked about it wouldn't have been appreciated in our space. We never would have realized that until we got it delivered and it didn't feel quite right. Instead of the $2400 bed that wouldn't have worked in the space, Tess recommended a $250 headboard that did a better job of working towards the feeling we were describing to her but not able to pick out ourselves. We liked how Tess used a mix of established design principles while still making appropriate decisions for our space just because it felt right. Tess specializes in redesign, but we replaced everything in the room except for our mattress and bed frame. So, when Tess left we only had a plan. But even after the consultation Tess would send us things she thought would work well in the space. I had a number of questions as we narrowed in on purchases and she was always prompt in either confirming a purchase or gently guiding us in a more appropriate direction. In addition to being very good at what she does, she's also just a great person to be around. Working with Tess was a joy and there's no doubt we'll be working with her again as we tackle the other rooms in our house. We'd end up paying more for an inferior outcome if we didn't.

It was superb. We spent a long time about 3 hours. Tess has a wonderful sense of style. The colors are perfect and worth every penny. She is very talented and I feel she immediately gets a sense of people and can gunge what was work. Very impressive.

Working with Tess was a great experience.I hired her to help my Mother choose new colors for her home that had not been painted in quite a while.My Mother is one that does not like change but Tess put her at ease and they worked well together!(A two hour consultation.)She brought with her an extensive array of large color samples(much bigger than the small chips that you get in the stores) and she knew exactly what worked well in each room.She also left my Mother with smaller paint samples so we could bring them with us when we went shopping for accessories.My Mother and I had tried figuring out what colors to use but could not make a decision.Using Tess was took the STRESS out of the task!We have done the painting and the change is amazing.A fresh new look is exactly what was needed!Thank you Ruby Shoes Redesign!!!!

Tess was fantastic and fun to work with. She explained everything in detail and created a written plan for our living room and room -sized foyer. The plan included recommendations around furniture (size, type, and color), paint color, lighting, floor coverings--everything you need to redecorate. She also suggested an order in which each thing could be done since it was not possible to make all the changes at once (since we didn't want to spend a huge amount of money at once). Just as important as the plan, she rearranged and edited all the contents of each room--this is the redecoration part of her services. Using what we already had she made significant changes so that the rooms showed huge improvement and really reflected what I wanted. Tess is an excellent listener and was really able to pull out of me what I wanted since I didn't know. In addition to being extremely fun and easy to work with she is a consummate professional--keeping us on task so we could accomplish everything that needed doing.

Tess was easy to work with. It felt like working with a very talented friend. We went shopping and worked together in the home. She was prompt, reliable, creative and cost conscious.

I'd been quite unhappy with the design and layout of our bedroom-- awkward walls, dormers, and eaves made pulling it together difficult. I'd heard about the redesign concept, and found Ruby Shoes through some online research. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. Tess Jenkins, the principal of the company, worked her magic and transformed our formerly cluttered, unsettled master bedroom into a clean, sleek space that we can relax in. From start to finish, Tess was thoughtful, thorough, and friendly. Very pleased with her design sensibility-- and we were able to use many items that we already had in our home to keep costs reasonable. For me, redesign is recycling at its best!
