Oscar's Moving Co

This was not an easy job, a full 16 foot moving POD needed to be unloaded and carried up 3.5 flights (50 stairs) on a hot humid day. The two workers that came were extremely nice and worked insanely hard. They took almost no breaks and got a tricky couch and dresser in a tight stairwell/doorway. When setting up and verifying the appointment the office workers were very good. Great experience, would use again. Quoted 3 guys for a total of 270, 2 guys came and total was 340. It took 3 hours.

Fabulous! From working with William who was extremely helpful about my storage needs even though I did not end up using their storage (nothing to do with them), to working with the moving crew who showed up in the allotted time frame and were amazing and efficient, this first time and somewhat nervous user of a moving crew thought they were incredible. I thought the cost was excellent for the value AND everyone I worked with treated us wonderfully. The movers were super careful with things that required it and asked for my help to determine what went where without ever losing patience. This is the standard for customer service every company should strive for in New England. Thanks guys!

They showed up on time, packed everything I hadn't packed, loaded it and moved it all. They were very professional and nothing was broken or damaged. It took a little longer than estimated (1.5 hours), but the movers were working very hard & I think there was just more stuff there than I had originally thought (I think everyone says that). I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and would recommend them to others.

William at the office was exceptionally responsive - getting back to us (mostly via email) about questions, requests and instructions in a timely and informative way. They were flexible and accommodating when we needed to shift the move date one day later (with a week's notice) - and were totally upfront about all charges, especially important for a long-distance move (from Boston to mid-Atlantic area). The crew (Walter and Julio) came when promised, were friendly and efficient, and did a great job of packing everything well. They arrived at the destination when promised (and called ahead to make sure the elevator was ready). Nothing was damaged upon unpacking and they moved everything to its place. In every respect they earned a good tip . We'd use them again for sure.

The General Manager William was an excellent start - thoughtful in taking information, and gave a bid right there over the phone. Movers came on time, and were powerful moving forces. Loading and unloading were right on estimate. If there was one thing to change it would be to have them taken an extra 30-60 minutes to make sure items were not dinged. It happens, it's all part of a move. Overall very happy and will use again.

The 3 men and the truck arrived at 8:30am on Saturday, in the time window they promised (8-9). They started immediately and moved the boxes to the truck first. Two of them were slim guys and I thought to myself: "are they able to lift my heavy sofa? should I ask my husband to help them?" To my surprise, the two slim guys had plenty of strength and they lifted my sofa like a piece of feather. I hired moving companies a few times in the past, this is the only time my sofa got moved without trouble. The other guy disassembled the king-size bed and offered to use a protective cover (only $10) on the mattress. Upon arriving at the new address, they moved everything to the spot I asked them. They also moved some heavy items to the storage room in the attic. All of them worked hard and efficiently. They completed the job in exactly 3 hours, faster than the quoted 4-5 hours. They forgot to include the angie's list discount $30 when they computed the bill. But I called the next Monday and they promised to refund. One week later I called again to confirm. William quickly refunded the money to my credit card. I am happy about it. Overall, my experience with Oscar moving company is pleasant. I would use them again.

When I saw the other recommendations on Angie's List I decided to call Oscar's. The GM Will was very professional and courteous on the phone. He 'walked' me through the whole house over the phone so I could remember all items that needed to be moved. He provided an all inclusive estimate and told me exactly how the move would go. The movers showed up at my house at the time they were scheduled. Worked hard the entire time and got everything loaded. They were courteous and professional. We met the next morning at the delivery location and they unloaded quickly, we settled payment and they were on their way. About as painfless a moving experience as I can remember having. The following Monday William called to let me know that when he gave the estimate he neglected to take out the Angie's List discount, so he was crediting some extra money back to me. Great experience all around, can't recomment highly enough.

William in the office was great to work with, both to get a quote and to schedule the move. The movers showed up on time, and were very courteous. They quickly loaded up the truck, drove to the new location, and quickly unpacked. They took great care, and nothing was damaged. A wonderful experience.

I needed to have several pieces of furniture moved between floors and to set up an appointment relatively quickly (within a week). The person who received my call was courteous and knowledgeable. The cost involved a minimum price, and the person who made the appointment provided a range of time betcause it was a job following an earlier one. The movers were a little late but did contact me to let me know. They were also courteous, as well as rapid and efficient. No damage was done to the furniture or the house.

They were ok. They were available and cheap and it wasn't a big move. I would use them again for a short, local move - I'm not sure I would use them for a long distance move. I would rate the price highly for what we used them for.

Great. they wrapped everything really well, there was no damage to anything. worked really hard. I think they must have underestimated the job, since it took 5 guys 12 hours! to save money they made 2 trips in one truck. guys were all pleasant. We bought lunch and dinner for everyone, which they appreciated. they reassembled and disassembled some complicated furniture. Their estimate was thousands less than other companies. When they came to give the estimate they were an hour late and therefore took off an additional $100.

They were prompt, polite, and very careful to avoid causing any damage. I would definitely call them again for a moving job.

I contacted Oscar's via email with an estimate request, including a detailed list of furniture pieces to be moved. I received an email reply with pricing and after a telephone call - -was able to schedule the move within a couple of days. As it was a small job - it was subject to their minimum fee -- but it was worth it. I didn't realize how affordable it was to hire a company for an inside move. The two movers were very careful with my furniture and very respectful.

It went ok- took longer than anticipated. When they arrived at the new house, we found a broken lamp that had spilled sand/gravel from the base of it into our new leather couch and all over the living room floor, found out today that a bookcase had a huge scratch in the top of it, and our new air conditioner slipped off of a dolly because it wasn't strapped down when it was removed from the truck and really should have been. Have also been finding broken glasses today in boxes that were well-bubble wrapped and marked fragile. Overall, just an OK experience.

We were driving a truck of furniture from out of state and had originally planned on having friends help us unload everything. We realized that it might be better to have a couple of professionals there as well and called Oscar's Moving Company. They were very good on the phone about giving us a quote, even though the move date was just a few days. As it turned out, on the day of the scheduled move, the movers assigned to us ended up finishing an earlier job quicker than expected and called me to ask if they could start our move earlier. Since we were not in town yet with the truck, I said that we couldn't start earlier and that we need to stick with the late evening start time we had originally booked. They said OK. When we arrived at the scheduled time, the movers weren't there yet so we started to unload the truck ourselves. When they still hadn't shown up 45 minutes later, I called the main office to ask what had happened. Someone immediately picked up the phone and said he would look into it. He called me after 5 or 10 minutes to say that the movers assigned to us had finished their last job and now he couldn't get in touch with them. We had more friends showing up to help us, so I just confirmed with him that we could have our deposit refunded to us. He said of course. I followed up on the next workday about the deposit and it was credited back to us that week. In the future, I would not book a move so late in the day. I think that's the main reason we ran into the trouble we did. Fortunately, we had other people scheduled to help us move, so we were not completely stuck. I was pleased with how quickly our deposit was refunded.

They were prompt and very responsible. They packed my belongings that I had not got around to and moved my plants excellently. I have a large plant and they did an excellent job with no damage to anything. They also did the work within the time-frame and in less than the time expected.

A great experience from start to finish! This was our first time hiring a moving company, and we carefully researched several companies before deciding on Oscar's - their good reputation plus the very reasonable estimate were the biggest factors. They were friendly and responsive and despite a very short notice, were able to squeeze us in on the needed date, giving us a two-hour arrival window. The two movers, Dave and JJ, arrived right at the beginning of that window, and got straight to work, quickly and efficiently loading our boxes and furniture into the truck. We had intended to stop to pick up our stored possessions on the way to our new location, but the truck was too small, so we first unloaded at the new place, then took another trip to the storage location. This did not cost us extra, and even though the stored items were numerous and heavy, the movers again quickly and efficiently got everything into the truck and to our new location. Dave and JJ were pleasant, competent, and worked hard. At the new location, they stayed to help us put our entertainment center back together, even though we didn't request it. They were great to work with, and handled our items carefully and professionally. Twice filling a 15' truck, loading and unloading, lunch, and about 30 miles' worth of travel time, took six hours, which was right on estimate. (They offer a $60.00 Angie's List discount.) We'd been worried that the move itself would be horrible and stressful, but the guys from Oscar's made it the easiest part of our overall move. The cost was right in line with the estimate, and was worth every penny! We would use them again, and recommend them to others.

I was very impressed with their skill and professionalism. It took 3 movers 5 hours to accomplish task. They wasted no time. Time on the road was longer than expected due to rush hour traffic.

From start to finish, our experience with Oscar's Moving Company was fantastic. We were able to receive a "will not exceed" quote in our estimate, which gave us some peace of mind, and everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly. The movers showed up within their estimated time frame, and got to work right away. We had some items that weren't worth wrapping in blankets, and they listened to us and only wrapped the items we wanted wrapped. We did sign a waiver stating that anything unwrapped was at risk for damage, but they loaded the truck so carefully, I wasn't concerned. They even took a couple extra things we didn't list, since there was more room on the truck. They were able to move everything within 2 hours!!! I never believed that their estimate could be possible (they estimated 1-2 hours), and they kept true to their word. They couldn't fit the queen boxspring up the stairs, and they warned me that by trying, there was a chance they'd scrape the walls, so they had me sign another waiver acknowledging that I was agreeing to risk the damage. They were very professional, worked incredibly hard, and were all-around fantastic.

It went really smoothly. This took 2 days. The guys came at the time they were expected and worked steadily and quickly. Also, they were very nice, friendly guys, too. They disassembled and assembled beds, furniture, excercise equipment efficiently and accurately.

Having been burned by moving companies before, I was extremely leery about hiring another to help us move to another state. I was completely bowled over by Oscar's Moving Company's service. Friendly, fast, courteous, careful, professional, thorough. Not words one usually sees associated with a moving company but earned wholeheartedly by Oscar's. Oscar and his crew showed up on time on Thursday morning and promptly went to work. They worked non-stop all day and stopped to ask me questions about particular items instead of just mindlessly wrapping everything. They finished the next morning and Oscar and Eric hopped in the truck and started driving and were at our house in Grand Rapids, MI 30 hours later ready to work. Even after that drive, they unpacked for 6 more hours (until midnight!) before returning the next day at 10 AM to finish the job. They not only unloaded the truck, they also moved the heavy furniture and boxes into the appropriate rooms and reassembled the things that had to be taken apart to fit. They made sure to be as neat and clean as possible and were even very good-natured about our 2 year old son following them all over the house peppering them with questions. In a move that has been very stressful, their piece went flawlessly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will be referring them to all of my friends in the Boston area that need a moving company.

Excellent, there were a number of very difficult and fragile items to move, all of which ended up safely in our new home. The movers were courteous and professional and certainly understood the best techniques for moving certain items.

We were moved promptly and then moved in again in good time. Nothing was damaged. I would hire them again.

This move was a NIGHTMARE! I called 2 companies to compare services (one company I used before) but decided to go with Oscar because he was going to give me 3 guys for a "few" dollars less than DN Van Lines who offered 2 people. I thought 3 people would get the job done faster but the price was only a few dollars different. First of all...the truck they brought was WAY TOO SMALL. They brought a RENTED 15' truck to move an entire house of funrinture and furnishings. They rented it from Budget and said it was budget's fault the truck was small. They reserved a 24' truck but it wasn't in when they went to get it. They don't own their own trucks! When they got there I said there is NO WAY my things are all going to fit. The driver responded "yeah, we were wondering that too". They said if it didn't fit they would take a 2nd trip. So much for saving time! I specifically asked for a morning appointment beacuse I had some place I needed to be at 5:00 (a business meeting). The move started at 8:45 and it was anticipated it would take 4 hours for the move. They did not finish until after 4:30. Needless to say, I missed my business appointment. After the movers left, I started moving things around and setting up and found many of my things damaged. I never had nice furniture before and just recently invested in some beautiful pieces which are now damaged. I'm so disappointed and upset. They did not wrap a hand crafted solid cherry desk top and it now has a deep scratch across the top. They broke the bracket that holds my dining room table leg in place (now it is very wobbly). They didn't wrap the wall pictures but stacked them on top of each other and some very expensive (and one antique) frames are now damaged. They broke a leg off another side table. My brand new cherry bedroom set (purchased at Ethan Allen - which was expensive) now has a gouge in one of the bed rails. They did not put the sectional couch back together. They left the gas grill in the yard and did not bring it up the 5 steps to the deck (which I cannot do myself). They left a Thule storgae box against the side of the house instead of putting it in the garage. Althought I did not see anyone smoking in my house, I did smell cigarette smoke in the finished lower level of the house in Hopkinton. The last time I moved I used DN Van Lines and they were SO good. They were professional. Nothing was damaged. They were polite, on time and did their work efficiently. I am SO sorry I did not use them for this move. If you are thinking of using movers I would highly recommend you ask if the company has their own trucks, are they insured, is their help sub-contracted or are they W2 employees (who care about their job and making sure things are done right), what are they going to do for you if there is damage? I thought I was saving money but in the end I lost money, time, a business meeting and now have damage to some very expensive furniture.

William was extremely quick to respond to my initial call and gave an initial estimate over the phone. Before deciding we had 3 companies come over to walk through and actually see what needed to be moved. The other 2 companies quoted more hours for the job and therefore were more expensive. Anyway we went with Oscars. It had snowed heavily the day before the move but the movers came on time. However it took them a while to get the truck backed in to the drive. Then there was some issues regarding a couple of pieces of furniture that the movers wanted to do special wrapping and we did not want to pay the extra money. We called William and he came promptly and resolved the issue and gave a half hour credit of the start time. About half way in to the move the movers said the truck was getting full and they did not think they could complete with one truck. So we told them to take the large, heavy and difficult to carry stuff which the did. They also spent time re-arranging the truck to maximise space. At this point William came over again and offered that they could come back for a second trip after unloading. This would have cost us a lot extra which we had clearly not planned for so we said we'd decide after they unloaded. The 4 loaders did a great job and it took exactly the 6 hours that had been qouted except that at the end of it we were all exhausted and we still had a third of a move left. We made other arrangements to do the rest of the move the next day. Whilst we were very happy with the experience we did feel that it was their job to give a somewhat accurate estimate. Also when it turned out that the stuff did not fit then they should have offered to waive the additional trip charges and just charged for labor. As it happened we had a very traumatic move that took 2 days instead of one and we paid almost double in the end. This was unfortunate as they all did a great job but the end experience was not great.
