They showed up on time, and were very professional. They moved quickly for the first 3-4 hours and then naturally slowed down a bit, since there was a lot of work, but they were never slow. They always checked with me first before doing anything unusual. They do tend to over tape every box that they seal but the extra tape doesn't amount to a big expense when their hourly fee is compared to some of the other companies. Overall did a great job.

My son called for a quote explaining what was to be loaded and moved, and he received a quote via email the same day. A date was secured for the move, and the three movers arrived on time and went straight to work. The whole job took only a couple of hours and everything was moved without any unforeseen incidents. The price was good and the use of the Angie's List coupon was a bonus.

I?m the guy who painstakingly scrutinizes all of the reviews (I drive my wife crazy) before I make my choice. But I never take the time to review the service or purchase. I?m breaking pattern, here is my first review: I purchased a fairly large table saw from a person on Cape Cod and quickly figured out that moving a saw weighing in at over 500pounds out of a basement was going to be a bit too much for my son and I to handle. I contacted several local movers in the greater Boston area and contracted with Oscar?s moving Company in Cambridge. I left a phone message after hours and was contacted the next morning with an estimate that beat out the competition hands-down. As luck would have it, Mother Nature decided that one blizzard in February wasn?t enough, with a second storm due to hit the Cape on Sunday morning, the day of the planned move. Mid-morning Saturday I called and left a message to see if the move could be rescheduled to Saturday or Monday to avoid the snowstorm. Within an hour I received a call back with a very positive, ?Let?s get it done today.? The crew arrived a bit later than originally thought, as they were completing a prior move on the South Shore before heading to the Cape. However, I received several phone calls to keep me updated on their projected arrival time. Within the hour, they were back on the road. Getting the saw into my basement was a bit trickier and took sheer muscle as the saw could not be brought in using a dolly because of the configuration of the bulkhead steps. From the initial phone call to delivery of the service, everyone was both courteous and professional. The moving crew even spent a few extra minutes to make sure an extension table that was detached before they arrived was properly aligned before they left. Oscar?s Moving Company gets a hearty thumbs-up from me. I would not hesitate to use them again for a future move of large equipment or a household move.

Overall, they did a good job at an extremely fair price, adding my load onto an already-scheduled truck that was going my way. Their crews were courteous, efficient and well-organized in packing, loading and unloading, and took good care of my stuff. The only issue was timeliness: a four-hour wait on the pickup side, 2 1/2 hours late on delivery, with zero notice on either end -- it was only after I started making calls that I was informed of the delays, which kept getting extended. Disappointed in their lack of professionalism in that regard.

The price was what they quoted and them movers were very kind, attentive, and fast. They got the job done in one day. Great job and I would use them again!

The movers were punctual, polite and very efficient. They arrived right on time and were ready to start immediately. They performed their duties with the upmost professionalism and went above and beyond to be helpful to me. They did the move in record time and made it extremely affordable. I would not hesitate to use Oscar's again in the future and would highly recommend them to others. It is, by far, the best move I have made.

Things are vague, due to length of time elapsed. But the men who moved me were prompt, polite and helpful. I would use them again if I ever needed this service in the future in the Boston area. It has been so long, I can't swear that they're still as good.

The pre-move process was very smooth. Alan, the move coordinator, was very responsive in returning my initial call, providing a quote in a timely manner, sending on information to help us get ready for the move, and answering any questions that came up during our initial conversations, and up until the move day. On our move-out day, the movers arrived promptly, at the beginning of the window I had been given. In a mere hour and a half, they had taken all of our boxes (all 180 of them!) out of the condo (2nd/3rd floors) and into the truck. The rest of the move felt like it went much slower as they carefully wrapped up our furniture and boxed up some bulky/unpacked items which would be easier to transport and store in a box. While this part of the move generally went smoothly as well, it felt like the pace slowed down quite a bit as it took another 5+ hours to finish that part of the move. The only real problem came at the end....the last item out was our boxspring and it got stuck in the entryway just shy of the front door. After trying different options for 30+ minutes (and punching a hole in the ceiling), they finally got it out. (Note: they came to fix the hole that evening, since we were selling the place the next day. They had originally offered to come one week later to fix it). The other disappointment was that our original quote for Day 1 ended up being far exceeded. The movers told us the second part of that day, which involved moving our items into their storage facility, would take about twice as long as the Coordinator had quoted, which along with the time overruns on the move of our stuff out of the house, made for an appreciably more expensive move out than planned. 10 days later a different crew show up with the loaded truck to move into our new place. I felt the Day 1 crew was fine (responsive, hardworking (other than previously mentioned slowness), but this crew was even better. Very quick, very careful, and a pleasure to work with. Everything went very smoothly and was completely 'on quote'. The only other note is that we've noticed a couple of scratches and dents in furniture. One piece (a small desk), is somewhat our fault - we told them to just drape it in a moving blanket, instead of doing the extensive/lengthy wrap that our more expensive furniture got. It came out of the process looking like a beaver took a good bite out of it -- a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch gouge in an edge. My son's crib as well, which was wrapped in their usual way, also sustained some scratches/dents, but it is made out of the softest wood I've ever seen, so some of that isn't all that surprising. I haven't unpacked the big pictures yet, but all china and other fragile items unpacked to date made it through the process with flying colors. Overall, Oscar's was still probably way cheaper than some other options (Gentle Giant), and things went pretty smoothly overall.

They are reasonably priced and very professional.

They arrived on time, did the packing, and came back the following day to do the moving. Everything basically went well, except there were several things which revealed sloppiness and/or a lack of professionalism. A couple of items were slightly damaged/scratched in the move; they re-assembled the bedframe wrong, which I only discovered later after sleeping on it; they forgot an office chair on the truck and had to come back to unload it after they had already left the upstate NY location on their way back to MA.

Their quality was very good but they were not that responsive and it was hard to catch them sometimes.

I bought a Groupon for Oscar's Moving Company but they were already booked for the date I needed. However, they provided me with the name of another mover, who was fabulous, and Groupon gave me a refun

Although the movers arrived later than scheduled and apologized they were terrific. The move went very smoothly thanks to the (2) men who serviced us for this move. I would highly recommend Oscar's Moving Co. Their price was the best too!

Jose and his team were very good to work with. They arrived on time and worked hard. First lots of boxes and then furniture. It was an impressive packing job. In the end only one object had minor damage, not bad with the quantity of material they moved. The team was very friendly and responsive. Now I just have to finish unpacking.

It went very smoothly. Arrived on time. They work fast. Did not take a break when loading or unloading. Friendly, professional, and careful with belongings. Plus Oscars was very patient when waiting to find out our closing time, and was accommodating when we needed to change the move in time by a few hours.

Other movers came to my house to give me an estimate. Oscar's instead took detailed information over the phone and came up with a very similar estimate as to the time involved; this was a simpler process, since it didn't require me to make an appointment and be at home during a work day, and it worked well. They also charged a flat rate for travel time, which helped make the final cost more predictable. On the day of the move, the movers showed up on time, and the move itself went as smoothly as I could have hoped. Nothing was broken or damaged, and everything that they took apart they put back together efficiently. The movers also discovered things in a basement room that I'd neglected to tell them about and checked with me about them, making sure everything that was supposed to be moved was indeed moved. It would have been bad to have left those things behind, so that was great. I had two small concerns (hence the B on Quality): First is that the movers seemed to use an awful lot of tape (at close to $3/roll, this added up). I don't actually know whether this was excessive or just good practice, but it's something to be aware of. Second is that the English skills of the movers, particularly of the foreman, were quite limited. This was something of an issue right off the bat, when the foreman wanted me to sign a form releasing them from liability, but he couldn't explain the form to me or answer my questions about it. I ended up calling the main office and speaking with my contact there, who was able to explain it, but this took some extra time and was not a great way to start the day. Fortunately there were no other issues that required a substantive conversation; this could have been more of an issue than it was.

Great! Oscar's moving company moved me from a 3rd floor walk-up to a 2nd floor walk up - all within the South End, which is notoriously difficult for moving. The quote they gave me was 3 x cheaper than Gentle Giant, so I was a little concerned they may be low quality - but not at all! For most of the day, it was just a regular move, nothing remarkable, good or bad. However, when we got to my new house, we discovered there was no way the sofas would go up the stairs. We also didn't have a crane to hoist the sofas through the second floor windows. However, the Oscar's guys took this on as a challenge (which I was amazed by - they would have been entirely within their rights to say "sorry we can't do it today"). They managed to "throw" (!) my huge leather sofas onto the roof of their truck (carefully... nothing was damaged), back the truck up against the house, and then use pulley ropes to pull my sofas through the window! It was ingenious and required A LOT of heavy lifting on their part. I was so pleased that it was big tips all around.... I would definitely recommend them to anyone - I was very grateful for their help on a very hot late July day.

We have seen them through Angie's List. I liked everything about them, they were great, they were very helpful, and very friendly. I will give A's across the board for them.

It was a short trip, but the movers tightly and carefully bundled everything nonetheless. There was some minor damage on two dressers, but fixable. Generally met my expectations when it comes to moving. Booking it was easy enough, mostly over email with Alan. The quoted estimated hours was pretty close to actual, with the guys only taking a short break for lunch (which we voluntarily provided). They showed up on time and went right to work.

They are excellent. And honest - how about this, they found a 20 dollar bill on the floor and brought it right over to me. I would have never known if they weren't so honest. They were all very professional, extremely careful, and they worked very efficiently. I was very impressed with the level of effort, and how they seemed to work as a team. This was also with a four year old, and 2 year old running around during the move, and they were so polite to the kids. I wish I could remember more of their names, David is who I remember most and he was oustanding. They actually came in under estimate, too. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

We were nervous about going with Oscar's as this was a big move and many of the reports on Angie's list seemed to be for smaller jobs. We were also nervous because they were the only quote we received where they didn't actually come out to the house to estimate the time; however, the estimate provided did have the same ~ cubic foot measurement as some of the other movers and Oscar's quote and rate were less. Moving out day: The team of 4 showed up on time. I actually passed them on the road while dropping off my daughter 5 minutes away and by the time I got back to the house, they had already cleared one room of boxes - they are fast! Once all of the boxes were loaded, they moved to the furniture which was slower as they carefully wrapped each piece. Everything went well though we did end up moving slightly more pieces than we thought we would so the move took longer than expected. The only gotcha was that they were so thorough, they ended up packing my husband's duffle bag of clothes that he needed for the next two days which I found pretty funny and added some much-needed comic release to a stressful closing process. The men who completed the move were great! Friendly, courteous and patient with our dog who kept running in front of them. We had some very heavy items which they moved easily. Move in day: Three men showed up this time, again on time, took a brief tour of the house and got right to work putting things where they needed to be, asking questions and allowing me to change my mind. All of the items were delivered with care. The men thanked us for not sending the huge black computer cabinet to the 2nd floor :). Even the marble topped antique chest (which the other movers said they wouldn't take) was delivered without incident. The move in was quicker and the time allotted was only slightly over what was estimated. We are very happy that we went with Oscar's - not just for the great price but the quality of the move and the enjoyment of working with friendly, professional folks. I would definitely use them again.
