+ -1 moreLast spring, while the guy was turning on the system (chatting on his cell phone at same time) he didn't notice that something was wrong...one of the zones was pouring water into our basement! The previous fall they had not fully blown out the water, so the pipe froze, water expanded, and pipe burst a hole over the winter. Called McGrath who apologized and assured me not to worry, that he "has insurance to cover these kind of situations". We had the repairs done (open wall, find pipe breakage, replace pipe, close wall, fix and paint wall etc etc) and sent him the $1800 invoice. No reply. Called him after two months and he apologized and promised he would submit the claim (some excuse about being sick and forgetting about it...). Long story short, his insurance company, "Selective Insurance" of Kentucky is appropriately named! I sent many emails with photos, explanations, documentation etc etc and after two months they sent me an email saying it wasn't covered. Meantime I had called and emailed Jack McGrath four or five times and HE NEVER RESPONDED! So, yes his service is less expensive, but beware, he is dishonest and his workers are lazy! I'm out $1800 plus huge waste of my time trying to get reimbursement!
Description of Work: McGrath's employees turned on the sprinkler system in the spring and blowout the system in the fall, so no water is in the pipes over the winter. We have used them for several years.

+ -1 moreWe've used them in the past with a positive outcome for the annual turn on. The scheduling was not convenient and the service man's attitude was unprofessional. I would use them again but if I run into a similar situation, that would be the last time I use them.
Description of Work: They did annual turn on and maintenance with our sprinkler system.

+ -1 moreTHEY ARE NOT RESPONSIVE AS THEY NEVER RETURN PHONE CALLS. THEY DO NOT FIX PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAUSE. YOU NEED AN INTERMEDIARY SUCH AS A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT JUST TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEM AND EVEN THEN THEY MIGHT NOT RESPOND.
Description of Work: MY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT HELPED US HIRE RJ MCGRATH TO REDO THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN OUR BACK AND FRONT YARDS AFTER WE REDID THE BACK YARD. ONE ZONE THAT USED TO WORK WAS DISCONNECTED SUCH THAT ONLY HALF THE ZONE TURNED ON. WE CALLED RJ MCGRATH REPEATEDLY TO HAVE THEM FIX THE ZONE (WE THINK THE ZONE WAS JUST ACCIDENTALLY DISCONNECTED IN THE BOX) BUT NO ONE EVER RETURNED OUR CALLS. WHEN THEY CAME OUT TO TURN ON THE SYSTEM IN THE SPRING, THE GUY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT AND TOLD US THE COMPANY WOULD HAVE TO SEND OUT SOMEONE TO DIG UP THE LINES TO FIND THE BREAK IN THE LINE. NO ONE CAME OUT. NO ONE CALLED. WE ASKED OUR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT COMPANY TO CALL THEM. THEY DID. NO ONE CAME. NO ONE CALLED. THE ZONE STILL DOESN'T WORK AND WE HAVE TO WATER THAT AREA BY HAND EVERY DAY.

Description of Work: I HAVE A SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSTALLED BY A COMPANY THAT IS APPARENTLY NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. MCGRATH REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE WAS VERY HELPFUL. THEY CAME WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, EXAMINED THE SYSTEM, AND WINTERIZED IT.
