Description of Work: It took a while waiting for my turn, as they have full summer lined up with Driverway paving. The owner responds quickly with email or phone. The team did the job professionally and the questions were answered properly. The Driverway looks so beautiful, 20'*50',and the kids love to play on it. For the price and quality, I would like to recommend them to anyone.

Description of Work: First of all, it should be pointed out that they were very responsive to any questions -- either by phone or by e-mail -- we had before the job started. They repaved our parking lot and driveway. The job also involved removing a cement slab, removing old tree roots that had caused buckling in part of the lot, installing a 4'x4'x'4 drain in a corner of the lot that would flood every time it rained, and painting white parking-space lines on the finished lot. All of this work was done perfectly -- and it was all done in one day.

Description of Work: I AM TAKING PAVE TECH TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT. I have a written contract which they completely ignored after wanting all the money up front. I am if fact taking them to court because the 3 1/2 inches of Asphalt called for in the contract is only 1/ 2 to two inches deep on the edges. When I pointed this out owner Henriquez stated "too bad job is done". The contract calls for using a "state of the art 2010 LeeBoy roadway paving machine" which is why they were awarded the job. I wanted a company that had a machine which could make it down the driveway and lay the Asphalt evenly and at a thickness which would be strong enough to hold the future traffic. They layed the Asphalt down by hand. Plus they did not use nearly enough materail. Their salesman ADAM came out and agreed to the issues plus I have photos. After being assured that I had "a six year guarentee"" if driveway failed they have disappeared. All I want is what I paid for was stated within original contract. CON ARTISTS.

Response from Pave Tech LLC
This guy is the con artist. He contracted us to pave a drive and do some walkways as we did. We could not fit the paver machine down the drive because the stairs were in the way. I know he new this all along . So we paved it by hand. The job was completed and he said we did not use the paver machine so he is taking us to court. He is a contractor that is trying to make any excuse to take sub contractors to court to re coop funds that he lost from bad investment on his project . He spent to much $ on a project and did not get what he wanted because of a falling market. The next door neighbor warned me about this guy and I should of listened

Description of Work: The driveway sealing job was poorly done - lots of bare spots not sealed. We were not present when the work was done. After a few attempts to contact the contractor we were told that they would rectify the situation next spring when the weather was more cooperative. So we'll wait and see if they keep their word. I would like to rate them again after they reseal the driveway. We'll give them the benefit of the doubt right now.

At the end of the day, Pave Tech did an above average job at a competitive price. However, there were some serious professional issues we contended with throughout the process. First, they took forever to get back to us (calls, e-mails, etc..). Second, when things were set, Adam gave an artificial start time that kept getting pushed back over and over again. He always had the typical contractor excuses. We almost pulled out of the job several times before he finally came through. Finally, we never went through the details of the contract prior starting. They simply showed up and began working. As a result, they installed the wrong pavers in our patio because they never updated the statement of work per our e-mails. This was partially our fault since we could have just told them to hold off until we got full alignment (though, keep in mind we had waited and gt; 6 weeks for them to start the work in the first place).

Adam was very prompt and professional. His turnaround giving me the estimate was excellent, and he even had it dropped off at my house. Everything was laid out clearly. He showed great knowledge of his field. I would have gone with him, except that I actually needed extensive masonry and another contractor offered a complete package which made my life simpler.
Description of Work: Gave me a bid on doing a 2000 SF Asphalt Driveway. The first estimate was subsequently increased because of a misunderstanding about whether there was an existing driveway. The price before was incredibly aggressive, and it was still very competitive even after the increase.

Pave Tech returned my phone call four business days after I initially made my call to them. They made an appointment to estimate our job for first thing in the morning (two days later). Fifteen minutes after the appointment time, I received a call to say that the person who was to give the estimate had to cover for someone who had just had a baby. But the project manager would come at a specific time that afternoon. NO ONE SHOWED UP. I got a call the next day, with a lame apology, suggesting that they could come later that day. In spite of myself, I let them come over. They then gave me a quote that was the highest of the five quotes I got. So, between the poor customer treatment and the high cost, I chose not to use this company.
Description of Work: Pave Tech provided a quote for replacing our 100 foot long cement driveway with asphalt.

The month of June 2009 in MA had a lot of rain. The contractor was, understandably, running behind his schedule because of this. He had commercial driveways to finish before he got to mine. He was extremely late in notifying about all this. I would have appreciated a phone call and explanation. His main business in the Newton area. Sort of made us feel not as important, living in Arlington. When he did perform the job, his crew was effecient and the work was done quickly. I was told that granite cobblestones would be laid at a 45 degree angle to the periphery of the driveway. The crew put them in vertical to the driveway. No problem, but it did show a communication gap. I just retired 33 1/2 years in the military. Communication problems can lead to severe problems! An extra $200 was put on the bill because the crew did a "bit more cutting of the curbstone on the street". No problem. Then, the owner asked for the remainder of his bill within 2 days of finishing the job. I had to wait over a month for the work. Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality of the work and think I would have him back if I need more asphalt laid.

My experience with Pave Tech was a huge disappointment. They gave me a quote in June and made a couple of good observations so I thought they were the ones for the job. We agreed to proceed and they said the job would be done in mid July. It's now late October -- I ve probably called 10 times to follow up to see when this project would get going and each time I get excuses. These guys don't seem to respect their customers. I canceled the job and am going with another contractor.

The company was quite responsive to our initial call. They also (unlike the other two companies we consulted) sent someone out to look at the site when there was actually one of us available to look at the site with them. Adam looked at the site in detail, clarified a number of details (should the paving stop in front of plants that had grown beyond a stone garden edging, or actually go up to the edging?), and made a couple of very creative suggestions regarding the edges of the asphalt (including bordering one edge with cobblestone). They also dropped the price because we were geographically close to another customer, and were willing to wait until Pave Tech could do both jobs simultaneously. We had a written quote by mail promptly. When the team came out they worked quickly and efficiently, and were as unobtrusive as they could have been given the heavy equipment they used. They cleaned up thoroughly. Our only problem with the company was that they told us that they were coming on a Thursday, and never showed or called. It rained Friday, and we were told that they would come on Saturday to get started - they didn't show or call then either. We got a call late Sunday letting us know that they would start the next day (Monday), which they did and then completed the job quite efficiently. It was important to us to know when they were coming, as we needed to coordinate not only our own activities but the schedule of the painters who would be painting the garage. It wouldn't have bothered us if they'd called and said they couldn't come on any of those days - we understand that there are delays, especially given the rain that we've had during this period.
Description of Work: Pave Tech tore up existing asphalt drive, regraded the site to match the pad for a new garage (this included adding fill), laid new asphalt, put cobblestone border along one edge.

I did not hire this company.
Description of Work: I called and requested an estimate to remove an existing concrete driveway and install a new asphalt driveway. Adam returned my call quickly and schedule an appointment to walk the job. He canceled the first appointment one half hour before the scheduled time. We rescheduled for the same time two days later and he was a no show. I thought it was odd that he called to cancel the first appointment, but not the second. I called and left a message and he never returned my call.

From the moment we met Adam Hatfield, who did our estimate, we had a good feeling about how it would go. He anticipated most of our questions, and added important information that positively influenced our planning and decision making. The work was done superbly, and lots of extra labor was provided to make the landscaping around the driveway look better than we expected - and without any additional charge. I have recommended Pave Tech to neighbors and friends, and will continue to do so. They were first rate. They kept their word on every detail, and were impeccably reliable and friendly.
Description of Work: They regraded our driveway, thoroughly prepared a highly imperfect surface for a new asphalt driveway, put in a new larger drywall to replace the old one, rebuilt a charming low fieldstone wall along one side of the driveway, redid our front bluestone walk, and repaved the sidewalk in front of our house. Their estimate was half the price of one of the other estimates we received, and the quality of the work was superb.

Pave Tech gave us an estimate in early June and told us they would mail the estimate within the next couple of days. We received it over two weeks later. Their bid was very reasonable, however, so we decided to hire them. In the first phone message they left us, they said they could do the work in the next week. When I called back the next day (still mid-June), they said it would be mid-late August before they could come. Come mid-August, I hadn't heard from them so I called them. They now said the first week of September. I hired someone else who came that week to do the job. They cost a little bit more but at least they got the job done. Pave Tech finally called me back in Mid-September to schedule a date. Too late, too bad.

We set a time for an appraisal, I stayed home from work to meet the guy, and he never showed up. I called when he was 15 minutes late and left a message. I called when I was about to leave for work (45 minutes late) and he answered. I asked him where he was. He told me he had lost my name, number and address. He did not explain why he hadn't checked or returned messages since he knew I was waiting, nor even made a hint of an apology. He asked if I wanted to reschedule and I guess I hesitated too long because he became rude: "Look. Do you want me to come look at the job or not!!" I said not. If you can't get a contractor to show up on time for an appraisal, imagine the problems you could have getting him to show up each day until the job's done.
Description of Work: Eddy set up an appointment to do an estimate to repave a front walk. Never showed up. I called 45 minutes later and he said the dog ate his homework or something ("couldn't find his bag.") I had also left a message 30 minutes earlier on his machine. He also became rude immediately. Never again.

This was a great experience. I called 3 companies from Angie's list and 2 returned calls right away and came out to give me an estimate. The first company came out, eye-balled the driveway and promised to fax a quote within a couple of days. The second was Pave Tech. Adam came to our house and spent the time to know what we wanted. So, for example, when I talked about a frequent basement flooding problem he recommended running the gutter drains under the driveway for a nominal cost. After we had everything down Adam then went back to his truck and printed an estimate right there. Talk about convenient! Even better, their quote with only slightly higher then the other company's quote was for just paving. No cobblestones, no drains and no garage. The final result looks phenomenal! As I watch the rain fall today I smile as the water easily pools away from the house. I whole heartedly recommend Pave Tech! Great company to work with.
Description of Work: We were originally looking just to regrade and pave our driveway. However, Pave Tech made several recommendations that we found very appealing. These included running drain pipes for our gutters under the driveway, paving the inside of our severely frost-heaved outside garage, adding a cobblestone strip to the front of the driveway and along the planting beds and creating a cobblestone landing in front of the rear deck of the house.

After a successful installation of an asphalt driveway, Pave Tech replaced my front concrete walkway with a brick walk in a herringbone pattern. They completed the job from excavation of the old concrete walk to final clean-up in three days. Not only was it beautifully crafted but the crew worked tirelessly during 100 degree heat. For quality, price, professionalism in all aspects of the job, I give them my highest recommendation.
