Appointment was made but roofer never showed up and didn't return my phone call after that.

I responded to an $89 offer to clean my gutters a few months ago. I then received numerous requests to come and clean the gutters before the leaves had fallen. After the leaves fell and clogged my gutters, I sent numerous messages without response over a period of ~6 weeks. A couple weeks ago I finally spoke to the owner who apologized for the poor correspondence and guaranteed that he would come and clean the gutters last week. I guess I'm a fool to believe him, and he did not show up nor respond to many additional calls. His answering machine said he was out until after the holidays! Thankfully, Angie's list is providing a full refund and I encourage all the other members who have had this experience to get a refund.

The roofer had a bit of trouble getting to the appointment on time. He was friendly, courteous and professional. He explained the problems he determined to exist with the roof and flashing well. He fixed (sealed) the flashing, but had to go off-site to get materials to do so. The sealing appears to have worked, but will need more time to see if it "holds." He then diagnosed the overall problems with the roof and performed some maintenance. Because of the type of problems identified, it did not seem like other work could be performed. It may help in the future to define better what "maintenance services" the roofer is actually going to or can perform beforehand.

It was ok, the guy doing the work was friendly and patient. But I never got a report despite asking 2 times by email and getting a response saying it's on the way... On the exceed expectations side, he patched up a few nail holes around the flashing for my skylights -- they weren't leaking but I didn't like how they looked like they would leak. A quick job, but he didn't charge me. And actual work is better than documentation, I suppose, so... 'B'. (Would've easily been an A if I had gotten the report.)

Bought Big Deal in July with plan to have service performed in mid-Sept. Sent initial email stating such plan and providing contact info to company at end of July, which got almost immediate reply back from owner. But then remaining communications all over the map, sometimes with immediate call-back, other times 2-3 emails and/or calls before heard back. Finally got scheduled for Oct 3, but on day of, forecast was rain, so on morning of, appt was cancelled. Was told would get call back later that evening. Never heard back so called them 3 weeks later, and again Nov 1, which owner finally responded to. Appt scheduled for Nov 5. Received call 5 min after scheduled time saying almost there -- just 20 min late, no biggie. Almost right away, before climbing on roof, was told looks like need a new roof. Shocked, told him roof was just installed Oct 2001, and had bought Big Deal mainly as preventative measure and to make sure no issues around pipes on "addition" side of house (was wondering if tiny bit of bubbling on ceiling due to aging/cracking caulking around pipes). He climbed up on roof, taking caulking with him. When he came back down, he showed me a digital picture showing a crack on a pipe collar, which he said he fixed (so hopefully no further bubbling on ceiling), as well as re-caulking other areas. He re-stated that I needed a new roof and even the corners of the shingles were all curling, or something to that affect. I told him I still had unused extra bundles of the shingles (company who had done roof had ordered too much) in the garage. He noted the name and manufacturer of the shingles, and said he would contact them and that typically after all said and done, the homeowner would get a new roof. It was left that he would follow up with me. Later I researched online, found out my original installer was no longer in business, and there was a class-action lawsuit currently against the shingle manufacturer, which won't be heard in the courts til Jan 2013. I called to update Certified Roofing, and he told me the manufacturer had informed him that he could not follow up on the issue. I told him I needed to file a claim with detailed info on roof situation and pictures. He just gave me an estimate of approx square footage (though I didn't notice if he took measurements). I assumed that I would get a written report (plan of action?) but didn't receive anything. Later during the weekend after the service call, my husband was on the roof, clearing leaves. He noticed the caulking around the biggest pipe was all cracked, so he had to go to the hardware store, research, and repair. This begs the question what maintenance/caulking was done by Certified Roofing? Bottom line, sometimes get quick follow-up on calls, sometimes not; appears to be professional and helpful when finally arrives to complete work, but now very skeptical and question if any work was done and the quality.

Initial work was carried out very expeditiously and professionally. Subsequent to completion I had a query about a missing roof vent. I made an appointment to meet with someone from Certified Roofing to look at the situation but the person missed the appointment. I contacted the company twice more, once by phone, once by email. Each time I was assured that they would be in touch. It is now December and the initial meeting was set for August. I can only assume that having paid their bill they have no intention of getting back to me

He came out, did the inspection and made some recommendations. I made an appointment for the follow-up work. I signed a contract for the repairs. He never showed up for that appointment, and never called or emailed. He never responded to my calls, either.

I bought the service through a discount coupons at Angie'sList website. Initially contact was very quick. However the provider couldn't come out for 3 weeks because they got such a great response from the coupon. Also, Damian said he was going away and couldn't get out till later. However, he was kind enough to visit and look at our gutters which he did before he left for a trip. I called about 3 weeks after our contact since the leaves all dropped. I would have preferred him to call me. Ultimately, they did a great job . The challenge was getting them out to our condo in the time we wanted.

I had first scheduled the roof inspection for 10/5 but nobody showed up. So I rescheduled for 10/17. Again, no one came. The same happened on 10/30. Finally Don came for the inspection on 11/1 but was two hours late. I was not even home when he finally arrived, although my wife was. I assume he did a good job with the inspection but I don't know because I did not receive any written report or assessment as promised. I am still waiting for the report.

Miguel Gaines (brother of the owner, I believe) was very personable and willing to clean selected gutters on both structures on my property, though the coupon that I bought was for a single home. He was quick and thorough. It was a pleasure to have him do the job.

He called me in September & wanted to do it then. I told him I wanted it done closer to Thanksgiving after the leaves fell. I started calling right after Thanksgiving & it took about 3 weeks to get a hold of him. He said he was going to come out Monday last Monday, didn't show up or return my calls. He says he showed up on Wednesday & told me he couldn’t get to a certain part of the gutter & had barely started before he just left. It took leaving a message saying I was contacting Angie's List before he called me back after this incident. He called me back saying he was on vacation & couldn't come out until end of December or January & that it would cost an extra $200 to finish the work. I'd prefer to not to work with him now & am requesting a refund from Angie's List.

I bought the deal and within probably a few days there was a business card on my door from the company. I called them within a week to schedule the work and he said that the gutter cleaning was actually done. My intention was that it could be done at the end of November once all the leaves had fallen. I don't know if he actually performed the work because the gutters were clean at the beginning of the month. He said he could come back out at that time to do the work. Emails and phone calls since, no return. I have visited his profile and there have been a lot of bad grades from other people who purchased the Deal. The fact that he is not returning the phone calls does not make him seem very professional. I decided to a get a refund on the Deal.

Paid for super saver general roof estimate, company never contacted me, never performed services.

I spoke to the person responsible, arranged a date for inspection and never got a report.

After making multiple attempts by both phone and e-mail to schedule something, I finally gave up. One time I did manage to get Dion on the phone, but we had a bad connection, so he asked me to email him my availability. I let him know that I had emailed him once before, but did not get a response, so I verified the email address I had with him (which is the hotmail address that Angie's List listed on the Big Deal), and he said that was the correct address. However, once again my email went unanswered. This was my first Angie's List Big Deal purchase, and I will admit that while I love my Angie's List subscription, I have been deleting the Big Deal offers without even looking at them, because the amount of hassle that was involved in my first Big Deal purchase didn't make it a deal at all, just a waste of time.

We bought the "big deal" purchase for gutter cleaning. After repeated promises through email, the company repeatedly did not come out in the time frame they said they would. It has been three months, they never showed up and I am requesting a refundSu

The owner took pictures and did an extensive evaluation of the two roofs. He then emailed me the pictures and estimates to both repair and replace roofs and facia boards. I was pleased with his evaluation and his estimates.

Called Multiple times, tried to schedule an appointment, I was never able to talk to somebody over the phone, every time I got is the voice mail. Due to the unresponsiveness, I cancelled the big deal and Angie's list refunded me the money.

This is an example of a company that got too ambitious. As long as Dion (the owner) was involved, the work went well, but when he turned things over to hired crews, the professionalism was not very good. Initially the company repaired chimney grouting and repaired a rubber roof over a sun porch. I was not around for either work, but when I returned home the chimney seemed to be completed well, but all the debris for the rubber roof work was laying in my back yard and the gutter downspouts were not re-assembled. I called Dion, but no one returned to complete the work for two weeks, so I had to clear the back yard myself. After two weeks, Dion came. It was the first I'd met him (preliminary assessment was done by Dave, who I understand is no longer with the company) and Dion worked for several hours by himself to fix leaking around flashing and assess the work that had been done by his crew. He sent another crew the next day (two people) to finish painting and cleaning up, but Dion was not with them and they required much supervision. Finally, all work was completed and quality was good. Dion was very anxious to make me a happy cutomer and promised to return and correct anything. Dion is a very hard working and sincere person, but he tried to do too much and had untrained crews working for him. I discussed this with him and he realizes that this was a problem, so he has resolved to cut back to a more managable work load, where he can supervise. Dion also negotiated the price of the job down to compensate for my inconvenience.

The company is completely unreliable. They kept telling me that they would come and do the work. They never showed up and today they called me and told me that the would not be able to do the work. I am very dissatisfied with this company.

I called in the beginning of November to set up an appointment and was told that Certified Roofing would be contacting Angies List members before Thanksgiving to schedule appointments for early December. Thanksgiving came and went with no call, so I called again in the beginning of December and left a message. No one returned my call, so I called again on December 11th. Dion, the owner, answered and apologized for the poor communication. He came and cleaned the gutters that very day. Once the scheduling difficulties were resolved, I was pleased with the company's professionalism.

I sat at home and waited and waited. I called four times. Then the next day the guy calls me and says he will definietly be over tomorrow. So I fall for it again! and stay home and sit around and wait.

He said that my roof was in such bad condition there was nothing he could do. While that may have been the case, I had no way to know and felt scammed. Since then I have found out that there were things he could have done. In other words, I spent $99 to get an appraisal, which would have been free from another company. I contacted him a few days later asking for some compensation - even $50 - and he became unprofessional. I got no satisfaction from the company. Angie's List was supportive did compensate me for the experience. I have used several other services from Angie's and been totally satisfied.
