Baker Elman Plumbing

As WELL (they did a great job on my toilet) as it went the first time I used Baker Elman, this time--the day after Thanksgiving-the job went very poorly. Susan, the office manager, had asked me for photos from underneath the sink--should have asked why. The plumber showed up on time and as I had the gasket and the cartridge for the kitchen sink, he showed the vanity trap, he brought and was replacing -- an item about 6" x 1". Anyway, after he fixed the kitchen sink (or so I thought), he went in the bathroom to install what I assumed was the new trap--6''x1". About 15 minutes later he came out and said he needed to go get a part which I assumed was a little different from the trap he brought in. He had taken so long to come back, upon his return, I said, "I was just going to send the cavalry out for you." Without my knowledge or consent, he went back to the bathroom and removed the pipe underneath the sink. And when he was leaving, he told me he wasnt allowed to give any prices to me. Bottom line, I told them I wasn't paying the $360 bill and requested that they come back and give me the same pipe I had before and take their trap. Also, the kitchen sink started leaking withing two weeks of the plumber fixing it. I had a real nasty conversation with Susan and have finally giving up resolving this issue with them as it is now February. They took $80 off they bill and thought I'd be happy.

They cleaned and performed maintenance on our water boiler, changing the Extrol tank and relief valve.

Baker Elman was fantastic. They came out the day we called to fix a clogged disposal. They took the time to see what the issue was, even though we were prepared to get a new one. They were clear in communicating pricing and options for replacement if needed. We ended up saving hundreds of dollars since we didn't need a replacement. We really appreciated the honest work, and how nice everyone was that we talked to.

Beautifully!!!!They found the appropriate replacement for a thirteen years old faucet, they responded promptly to my calls, emails, questions etc. Service was excellent. Now we have a reliable plumbing service that we know will solve our problems without delay. PRICELESS!!!!

Great customer service, responsive by email or phone (Thank you Susan Calcagni - you were the best and trying to get it done for us). Unfortunately needed to postpone project to install new water heater to Spring (was not an emergency or issue with current WH) just picked the wrong time of year to install (peak demand time) - appreciated the calls and emails with service team to make it happen. Prior to seeking out this company on Angies List - many companies were not responsive, did not return calls and one company associated with Home Depot (where I bought the WH) called and left a number that when dialed hung up or did not respond. If you want a responsive and reputable company - Baker Elman Plumbing is it.

I can't speak highly enough about my experience with Baker Elman Plumbing. Everyone from their office administrators to the plumbers were responsive, professional, helpful, and patient. I began a small update of my bathroom. At first, I worked with Bathfitter to install a new shower. This was not an enjoyable experience with one problem after another happening. One of those being that when Bathfitter installed in the new shower, they hit the vanity so hard that they broke the plumbing underneath. So, I then needed to find a plumber to replace the plumbing and vanity. I found Baker Elman and they were fantastic to work with, particularly after Bathfitter. For example, when they removed the vanity, they saw that Bathfitter didn't properly seal the tub to the floor (no seal at all) so they solved that problem for me. They also were extremely helpful and patient with me as I dealt with the challenges of Home Depot (from damaged product to wrong products altogether). The initial work was just to install a new vanity and plumbing but they were so fantastic that I ended up getting a toilet through them to install as well as the faucet fixture for the vanity. I wish I found them in the beginning because I would have done everything through them!

The installation went very well. Two tech's were on site for the installation, gave thorough explanation of the system, answered my questions and left the place clean. The quote process wasn't as seamless (typos in the quotes and lack of details), all of which were addressed, and corrected. I was pleased with the competitive bid and the service. I would use Baker Elman's team again without hesitation

Office staff was very helpful in terms of scheduling appointment and letting me know the approximate arrival time. Plumber arrived on time and did a great job. Price was very reasonable. Would definitely hire again!

I called and the dispatcher (Susan) was friendly and informed, she had me send pictures so that they knew which parts to order. The plumber (Frank) they sent was experienced and extremely confident. It needed further work and they followed up in a timely manner, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, they are 1st rate and very well organized.

There used to be an old saying, “Behind every great man, there is a great woman.” Now, I have to say, “Behind Baker-Elman Plumbing Co. , there are great women.” Yes, their plumbers did a great job. But what impressed me the most were the women working behind the scene. Our water heater broke down on a hot summer day. It had a lifetime warranty, but there was a little hiccup when we tried to get the replacement water heater for free. Sheryl went out of her way to negotiate with the supplier on our behalf, did the paper work, and got the free water heater for us. Then, she quickly scheduled two plumbers coming in to do the job within 36 hours. She really saved us from the agony. Before we found Baker-Elman on Angies’ list, we called two other companies for estimates. In addition to the labor charge, they asked us to pay for a new water heater upfront, and expected us to apply for the refund from the supplier ourselves. Sheryl did all the heavy–lifting for us. Susan was also very helpful. Not only so, their labor cost was way below the other two estimates. Baker-Elman is a plumbing service that you can count on. Highly recommend!

Everything went incredibly smoothly. It was a job in 2 parts, so 2 trips were required. The company was punctual both times, responsive and accurate in their work. I couldn't have expected better.

The company answered my phone call on a Friday, no need to leave a message. The work was scheduled for the following Tuesday (this was not an emergency). Plumber arrived on time as scheduled. Installation went very well. Faucet and several feet of pipe were replaced in a tight corner. I'm very happy with the work and payment done by credit card. I have a bit bigger project planned and will be calling Baker Elman again soon.

They answered their phone (which some plumbers do not, even if you are a returning customer), scheduled the appointment as soon as they could and confirmed it, arrived on time, answered my questions (which some contractors don't like to do), and installed a high quality hot water tank in place of the old one, plus took the old one away. They also tested my sump pump to be sure it was working properly. I got a small Angie's List discount on the cost. I will definitely hire them again.

Great. Fast, courteous service. Volunteered to answer questions on other issues and even do one or two very small "fixes" while in the house. I am changing to them as my regular plumbers. Excellent phone service, prompt, everyone was very nice. I've had five plumbers/helpers so far, all excellent. They are great.

Technician arrived on time and was able to fix the issue. However, the job should’ve only taken a half hour and he was there for over an hour and they also charged me for his half hour travel time which was never disclosed prior to booking.

The technicians arrived on time and were done with all three faucets in 2.5 hours. The faucets to be rebuit were high end ones and would have cost a lot to replace. Another plumber had actively discouraged me from rebuilding them though I had already procured the parts. They did a good job of fixing the problem. They also gave a 10% discount for using Angie's list

Very well ... the tech (Paul) was friendly, polite, and professional, and offered honest assessments and advice. The office staff was also courteous and thorough. Billing was easy and timely, too.

Arrived on time and finished planned task efficiently and with little disruption. But upon connecting the new line to the pipe leading to an upstairs bathroom, they noticed slow drip from vertical pipe. They did not know if the work they had done caused a problem higher up, but reported it to me right away and set about fixing it. Fortunately they were able to get access through a hatch in the ceiling of a closet, and with a quick run for supplies had it fixed without needing to break into a finished wall. It was not easy access! This added 50% to the quoted job cost, but a two hour job became three, so it made sense. And once they removed the old pipe, it was obvious from the amount of corrosion that they had not caused the problem, they had fixed one in the nick of time.
